I remember begging my parents to let me play this game after school. I thought it was such a good game and it was all I'd talk about at school for like a week. I remember they'd hype the shit out of it on cartoon network and had a contest where the top player would get some prize or something. Good times man.
I'm so glad someone in the world was willing to try and preserve this game! I remember playing it as a kid, but because my PC was God awful, none of the character models would load and everybody would be represented only by their drop shadow.
I remember the game not running very well on our older computer but eventually i did get to play it probably around the time episode 3 or 4 was released and i think your total score carried over until the end of this game's run so unless you were playing this game day and night since the first day it was released you didn't have any chance of getting your 5 seconds of fame on tv. Didn't stop me from lying to my friends and acting like my character was featured on tv once, lol.
I remember playing this game as Agent no. 1782 but lost my password so I made a new one and got Agent no. 2417. I guess I demoted huh? Then again I got decommisioned when I grew up but still, I wish it's sequel was Greenlit. At least the game is back! Thanks for sharing, I can't wait to relive it again!
I remember this 3D Codename: Kids Next Door website back in 2003 when I was in middle school with new episodes on the cartoon show I got my parents to sign me up on the website but it was still cool
Woooow, I was surprised to hear that Operation B.E.S.T. existed (even if the MMO part is just leaderboard stuff) and it's cool that you gave the game a deep dive! I like that the levels went along with some episodes from the show! :D
I literally cannot believe the game is back up again. I was one of the few people outside of the US that wanted to download this game in his mother's computer, and i could only manage to get through the tutorial level with the hamsters that later became a full flash game for some reason. The main game never loaded and i was stuck in the tutorial so i gave up on it. And after the final episode of the event came out and it was announced the game would shut down, i began looking on KND related forums until i lost all hope, with the game's website (available through the Wayback Machine) as the only evidence of its existance. So imagine my surprise when i see it resurface, and from the looks of your detailed and well-thought out review, it seems to be satisfactory enough. Can't wait to try it out. P.S.: Numbuh 13 can take a dive in a bottomless pit
I don’t think the show is only for kids even though it’s intended audience is children. I think anyone just looking for some good plain old childish cartoon fun can enjoy this show. I look back on it all the time to enjoy the show. Not to mention I think it has a very well written story personally.
i was one of the few kids that wasted the 1st day of his weekend just to download this game on Dial-up, all night long-awaited and waited playing the build-in mini-game they have fore the downloader and instiller mix call Flight of the Hamsters, i played it all nioght long until the sun come up, and once it was done i just gone to bed at that point after watching a few cartoons with there new eps and gone srt8 after that. played it for hours on end when my mom was not on the phone with people so i can be linked to the dial-up network and it run great on the network becasue they have this in mind at the time that most kids would have a dial-up network before dsl become way cheaper and faster
I know the news, and have yet to play the archived game… but I know/remember things that others have missed like an expert!!! I know stealth is not worthless because I balanced all my skills & you had to wait for the next missions to be unlocked!!!…(It will be worth it fast, making later hard things easier &rewarding!!!) So the idea is you Grounded points/skills the first week(or much less, you just need the required minimum 😉) while waiting, but you won’t regret it!!! How is stealth not worthless? Because I found the secret areas, like one you had no choice but to use it in the first mission with an hidden area with near invulnerable zombies! But once you have the balanced skills you can get a temporary or permanent item… again & again!… try finding the other secret areas, it’s worth it or fun! Also balancing your skills and including stealth makes you able to use it for more than just reveling enemies, but get a edge on them. They can get hit easier, stricken first, and lose site of you, more easily… and combined with your other balanced skills make a lethal combination!!! Stealth does get turned into a hidden item detector after one of the missions, for items that only are visible & accessible only by stealth mode. This becomes a huge reason to use it once permanently rewarded the item, I think it doesn’t even need to be equipped, just be in the inventory!!!😊 and don’t forget you eventually get the fork strapped to a rocket reward to grab unreachable items after one mission is completed, it good for stocking up on power-up’s & what was once unreachable!!! (Some candy spots 🍭 gave huge points!!!) Remember, new missions used to take a week, so grinding won’t hurt, and don’t underestimate the stealth skill😤 (the few points for stealths first levels are cheap anyways 😤, more items will eventually help soon too!) P. S. I think skill points come from defeated enemies?… I’m trying to remember, because I think I got some outside of missions, visiting areas… I think?
