Thank you for these beautiful 'photos and footage of Helen and her companion Polly Thomson's visit to the Middle East. What a remarkable woman and ambassador for the blind and deaf. A really extensive tour ..... totally fascinating, riveting stuff!! She experienced a lot during this tour always using her hands and sense of smell in the garden and with the flowers the little girl was holding.
Very lovely music too.

That's true. I feel like a regular " Stay-at-Home" , compared to Helen Keller.
The only time I ever left the U.S. was when I crossed the border from NY state to Kingston, Ontario. But, to tell you the truth, It didn't really seem any different from the U.S. 😮 Anyway...Have a great day! 🌿🐸🐸🌿

Hi Jeff. Thanks for the warm comment.
So glad you enjoyed the little video. 🌿🐼🐼🌿
These scenes from Helen Keller's travels are spectacular! Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, Israel were, I imagine, visits desired and dreamed of by her.
I imagine her emotion in touching the statues of the Cairo museum. I like the photo with the Dromedaries and the visit to the Garden of Gethsemane. Were the color images restored like this or are they original color images?
Have a good day dear friend. 31 Like
Hi Marco. Thanks for the thoughtful comment. I'm glad you enjoyed the old pictures. I think the photos were originally photographed with color film. They come from the archive of the Perkins School for the Blind. In Boston, U.S.A.

Such beautiful images. We're so fortunate to be able to see them. Nothing would make me happier today, than if folks could take a cue from Hellen Keller and be blinded from their hate. In the Middle East and everywhere. Lovely trip and beautiful music. Thanks for sharing her love!
Thanks for stopping by. It's nice to hear from you. Yes...Helen Keller was an ambassador for peace. I suspect the modern-day middle east looks a bit different than when Helen visited in 1952.
Wow! We are so used to seeing her in black and white, that the sudden color makes her more real to us, as if she were back among us, as if she too had acquired sight. Thank you
Yes. We don't see many color photographs of Helen Keller.
I'm so glad you enjoyed the little video. It's always nice to see you, my friend.

Thank you, this beautiful. The more time passes the more I am amazed by her and Ms Sullivan. Tragically, tomorrow marks the 22 anniversary of when her archives were burned up in Manhattan. The towers fire destroyed her building, too.
Yes. It's strange, but I was thinking about that today. It was a big loss for the world. Thanks for your visit, my friend. 🌿🌷🥀🌿

It's truly fascinating to see historical footage of Helen Keller's visit to the Middle East in 1952. Helen Keller was an extraordinary person who overcame her disabilities to become a renowned writer and social activist. Her journey to Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, and Israel is an important part of her legacy, and this video provides valuable insights into her life and experiences during that time. The choice of music, "Adagio" by J.S. Bach, adds a contemplative and reflective tone to the video. Thank you for sharing this historical footage on the Helen Keller Channel. It's a remarkable glimpse into the past.

Thank you for the wonderful description under the video 'Helen Speaks Out' posted 12 years ago, where comments are disabled, hence my comment here. What an amazing woman Polly Thomson is, staying by Helen Keller's side for decades and helping her navigate day to day living ! Thanks again for all the lovely videos you share. Warm wishes !....Jagdish
Hi Jagdish. Thanks for the kind comment. At one point youtube began promoting that video, for some reason. And it got millions of views and thousands of comments. I got tired of screening and deleting the inappropriate comments and unsuitable language so I just disabled the comments. Yes, I've always admired Polly Thomson. She seems likable and competent. She was originally hired by Anne Sullivan and Helen as a secretary and assistant, in 1914. I re-call a quote from Anne --... -"Then later, Polly came....I loved Polly and we were always so happy together. ... my Polly, my Helen..." - -Anne Sullivan, from her death bed. At any rate, thanks for stopping by, my friend. It's always a pleasure to see you here. 🌿🥀🥀🌿
Helen has lead a charmed life, no one would dedicate their time now to help a blind person like this anymore
