Well I was about to state the obvious but everyone here already beat me to it.
I was self-employed for 30 years working 6 - 7 days a week. Now retired, I'm seeing my retirement being whistled away by taxes and inflation caused by the Liberal government. They'll NEVER get my vote.
No one told you to work so hard and make investments or savings. That's your fault!!

Some individuals or families were able to scrimp and set aside savings for their retirement years. They paid tax on those savings at the time they earned. Why should they be taxed again?

@@jenkins5265The plumber incorporates and invests the money. The capital gains does not get the $250K exemption. This is a problem when the plumber sells the business at retirement. There will be a one time hit of 66% on ALL the capital gains

If Capital Gain tax increases tax changes are triggering Canadian doctors, engineers, professionals, investors and retired citizens move away from Canada, then history will describe this as : SHORT-TERM GAINS but LONG-TERM PAINS
Youths are the only generations to be hurt in this long-term pain result, employees today are worried of job losing when their small to medium employers may need to reduce work forced expenses.
Brian Mulroney, a Conservative, made the exact same Capital Gains tax changes when he was Prime Minister. Worked out well back then!

If you are talking fairness, why is the child care costs so much lower in Quebec than the rest of the country. Also the Carbon tax is lower for Quebecois than the rest of the country.
Fairness should start at home and have Quebec an equal partner.
Quebec receives approximately $14 billion in equalization year from the federal government that' s why they can the cheap child care costs
Quebec has the lowest COe2 emissions in the country.
Generate less pollution, pay less tax. It’s not complicated.

Quebec has it's own provincial child care program that has lowered costs for Quebec residents, the federal government just gave them the money they would have used in Quebec for a child care program to help keep costs low. Also Quebec doesn't pay the Federal Carbon Tax because they employ a carbon tax AND a cap and trade system, carbon tax is cheaper in Quebec because the cap and trade system Quebec has does the bulk of the heavy lifting.

Quit including CPP in your debt to GDP ratio. CPP does not belong to the government and should never be including in these kinds of ratios, but, it certainly puts a different spin on the real picture.

Do you think 20% percent of poor individual income is equivalent to a wealthy individual, because a flat tax would punish the poor while benefiting the wealthy. Tax should be proportional to a individual income.
@thecanadianempire8767 a guy making 200 thousand will pay 40Kin taxes and a guy making 50k will pay 10 K in taxes. How are they not paying more. Canada gives all the same opportunities . We have a decent public education system, free libraries , tax payer funded healthcare if someone doesn't use these resources properly, doesn't want to study hard in school or pick a vocation then why is it the guy making 200K problem. Remove all other tax loop holes but keep a flat tax that is the most fair tax system. I am ok if you start the flat tax at incomes above 30K anyone making less than 30K is exempt.

they should include inflation rates historically in their calculation for capital gain. Then it might be closer to “fair”. Drop the tax for the businesses. Solves a lot of the issues here.

What tax fairness? Those making over 80k, already have to pay for their own dental, for their own medicines, for their own child care, they get no perks from gov at all.
