    IMHO you should always swab the boot first if using the same swab for both pieces. You don't want a wet or damp swab going through the unprotected side of the boot.

      On the same point, I've read it's a good idea to drain the condensation out the lined, smaller bore of the boot.

    my bassoon's notes above about G or A are bad and below B and A squeaky... have any advice?

      Change the pads.

      Practice! ...yes, and check the pads. Maybe time for a tune-up.

    Good advice. But when you’re making a video, NEVER use the camera mic unless it’s a shotgun.
