  • Grip Strength is strongly correlated with longevity. It is important for two main reasons:
    1) It is a proxy for upper body strength, and to some extent, overall strength, which is important for overall health.
    2) A strong grip is important for specific functional ability (holding objects, opening jars, pulling, etc.), and importantly, it is often essential for preventing dangerous and even life-threatening falls.
