The M26 Pershings out-classed the T-34/85s that the DPRK used in their initial invasion. In theory, the M4A3E8 "Easy Eight" Shermans were on a par with the Soviet-supplied T-34s, but in reality WAXED them, due to factors such as logistics, leadership, doctrine, training, and that the UN forces had air superiority, especially in the August and September 1950 battles along the Naktong river near Pusan.

on the whole spall issue, most modern tanks have Kevlar or other similar fabric. spall liners designed to catch spall before it confuckels the crew
First, Abrams have spall netting to protect from fractured armor. Second, they have taken out one of our Abrams M1A2 with an RPG shot into the rear vents, and we had to use the thermite charges to scuttle the thing FAST, and keep moving! So yes, we have lost Abrams to enemy fire.

World war 1 tanks: let's introduce ourself
Yeah, toxic fumes, heat, noise and not that well protected against heavy weaponry, wwI tanks as crucial they were, they were a pain for the crew.
It depends on the tank. For example the Panzer IV was compared to others very comfortable, the desert version had it‘s own cooling system.

You’d literally be caught with your pants down

I know what you're talking about. I was a 4 man tank crew member in the Army. Only I didn't have to spend hours inside as I was never in battle. We had the old M-48 A-1's and even then they were badass.
A tank isn't that cramped up. Imagine moving around inside your car but can stand up. It's not what this video makes of it.
Yeah, my father was a E-9 in the 84th armor division US Army.
Edit...you can throw your Garbage out from the bottom of the tank through the escape latch so why is this commentator not mentioning that?
Also in most if not all Modern MBT's the fumes from the gun is extracted out of the end of the barrel by the bore evacuator. And I've been on the inside of an Abrams it's not that cramped at all esept the gunner seat but I'm 6'1 with long legs so it wouldn't be to much of a problem overall

I was a crewman for an M1A1 for 7 years, roughly 2 and a half years over in the middle east, no less then 3+ times my own tank was fired on or attempted to be fired on by friendlies who for some odd reason could not properly identify what an M1A1 looks like, friendly fire is the #1 tank killer.....
Was that fire from helicopters or men on the ground? Also how do you mix up an M1 and a T-55?
Buttoned up, not down!! I am a 19 Kilo myself with 12 years of service and experience with multiple variations of the M1e1, M1a1D, M1a2, and M1a2SEP....... And come on now, it’s not that bad to roll out the 4 crewmen’s sleeping bags on the back deck of the jet-turbine engine that has been running for about an hour, and with a tarp covering the gun-tube it will stay warm and dry all night long; and on those rainy monsoon days in the ROK, it is a true blessing to us “Kilo’s” Furthermore my crew and I hit 3 IED’s in Samarra City, Iraq that did a lot more than scratch the paint!! More like destroyed the track, roadwheels, shock arms, hubs, support rollers, torsion bars, sprockets........... and the last big blast put our old horse out to pasture for good........But we did get the brand new M1a2 SEP when we returned home from Iraq!!

This is right out of history. Yes, service in a tank in general has always been tough, especially when the opposition controls the air. But, as an historian, I'm thinking back to that giant 'tank' we built, during our Civil War. The sailors noted in letters appearing in the newspapers or later published that life aboard the advanced tech (for the times) Monitor was incredibly harsh, with inadequate heating, cooling, drying, air circulation, and ocean stability...

“No Abrams tanks were destroyed to enemy fire” we don’t talk about Afghanistan.
This was true before the US entered Afghanistan. During Desert Storm, Saddam's forces only managed to disable M1 Abrams and didn't destroy any. Then things changed.

A total of 23 M1A1s were damaged or destroyed during the war. Of the nine Abrams tanks destroyed, seven were destroyed by friendly fire, and two were purposely destroyed to prevent capture after being damaged. Some others took minor combat damage, with little effect on their operational readiness.
my grandpa told me a story of when he was a tank operator and his friend during a stormy night in the 1950s he slept under the tank

My older bro was a loader for the M1A2, he said that yea it’s bad in there but it’s not as bad as y’all say it is, but he is used to the heat and tight spaces working as a handy man and farmer before the army
An old boss of mine was a tank driver in WW2 during the desert campaign, due to the fumes and dust his sense of smell was completely destroyed .He could only taste smells on his tongue.
Tbh, I never though life inside a tank would be that great.
Well I've never lived in a Abrams tank but I have lived in a M109 A6 Paladin it has a little bit more room than a Abrams but not really in the Drivers seat and unlike a Abrams the engine is front mounted and that thing loves to leak alot it's not fun to sleep in the drivers seat with half of the drivers hatch is flooded with oil. Your literally in knee deep in oil.
Some corrections:
1: The Abrams is actually quite spacious and comfortable. The crew are dispersed so they rarely get in each other’s way.
2: While I cannot speak for all tankers, US Army Major Nicholas “The Chieftain” Moran (who has a channel on UA-cam, btw) said that unless he was under intense enemy fire, he almost never closed the hatch completely
3: The animation is nothing like what being in a tank is like. The driver is in a separate compartment by himself, and the gunner and commander are seated
4: Due to the fact that a nuclear bomb hasn’t been used in war for 75 years, tanks rarely if ever use their NBC capabilities.
5: If you don’t think gunpowder is a pleasant smell, then I’m sorry but you’re not an American, no matter what your birth certificate says.
6: RPGs and IEDs are still a threat to modern tanks. I take extra offense to the fact that the narrator scoffs at the idea of an IED doing any damage to a tank. At the American Heritage Museum just outside of Boston is a USMC Abrams that, before it became a museum piece, was hit by an IED, tragically killing the Commander.
7: Tankers can bail out. It happens. Getting hit IS survivable.
8: it’s pronounced “Say-bow”, not “Sa-bot”. Not a big nitpick, but it shows how little the production team actually knows about the subject.

I was a gunner for the Leopard 2. It's quite cosy actually, i wouldn't say it's extremely cramped? But it does get uncomfortable after hours-long missions. If we're just moving in a convoy, i used to lower my seat and open the turret cage so i can stretch my legs into the driver's compartment. Loved my time in the army
While none have ever been completely destroyed by enemy fire, there have been a few cases where units were damaged in the field and destroyed by their crews to prevent capture.

Sheridans were very light, at 18 tons. They coulden't take the stuff an Abrams would laugh off.
Anyway, taking a leak in a tank only requires an empty ammo box (usually plenty around). Has a nice rubber gasket, and locks shut. For #2, try the .50 cal. box.

Wasn't all that bad even when it was over 110 F outside. Believe me we never relieved ourselves inside. We also fired many main gun rounds and the tank has an over pressure system to evacuate any bad air inside. Compared to the infantry tankers have little to worry about from fragmentary artillery rounds. One important thing was we carried a 5 gallon jerry can full of water for each crewman and made sure they drank it everyday while in the desert.

Interesting wording. 'None have been destroyed by enemy fire'. Technically true but this tank has been knocked out by enemy fire on numerous occasions.
Unable to continue the fight and had to be withdrawn from the front line. In 2 instances scuttled by its own crew to prevent it falling into enemy hands.

I'm an American, but my grandfather is a Chinese man, and back in the 60s, he served in the People's Liberation Army (Chinese Army)'s 38th Group Army (which has been renamed the 82nd Group Army)'s 6th Armored Division (which was disbanded after their 38th Group Army was renamed the 82nd) as a tank commander, and of course he described his experience of being in a tank as austere; he detailed it as being cooked, and burnt alive since heat got trapped inside the tank. Keep in mind that his unit was operating old 20th century dated hand me down Soviet tanks that were exported to China before the Sino-Soviet split, so there wasn't any air conditioning in there at all, and as said before; the armor of the tank made it a heat conducting tin can that trapped heat inside of it, seriously cooking it's occupants alive.
And if it was cold instead of hot, he and his crew were frozen to their seats (and unable to get up).
Tanks look cool but, they're not fun to operate that's for sure. And to those of you Slavaboos who admire Soviet tanks; be advised those are even worse to drive around than American tanks.
Don't forget to say goodbye eardrums. Just because the armor took the hit it doesn't magically deal with 100% of it.
