from what i understand WSFC keeps stabs on the health of the sql server. You need to set up automatic failover in the AVG settings. WSFC can be used in two ways for SQL, you use a cluster shared volume and the nodes negotiate who controls the service at that time or you duplicate the data on each node and have write/read nodes for load balancing. There are obviously other ways but those will be your two primary picks for basic failover setups.
