I have always run 87 octane unleaded gasoline with 10% ethanol in my two-stroke Rotax engines as it is nearly impossible to find fuel here in this country without it. Having 920 hours on a 447 engine and 1489 hours on my 582 engine, I have never had any problems that I could relate to the fuel I use. If I could get fuel without ethanol, I would use it. When traveling, I will use 100LL AV gas if I cannot find auto fuel, but I try not to use it as it makes a lot of carbon. I have sold the Chinook with 1489 hours, but I feel it would go another 20 years as far as I could tell. The only changes I made were the install of the piston rings manufactured in Taiwan, and the main bearings using the metal ball separators the last time I had the engine apart as per the video. This is experimental, and with only 25 hours on these parts, only time will tell. I also did not use the oil injection, as I found I could not pour in a pint of oil after burning 6 gallons of fuel. I replaced the entire oil injection system, and got the same results, so the system was removed. By blocking the oil control lever full on, I could only get 70:1
@@shawnwright5332 I never said it did. Only that I put no parts in it other than gaskets. I tore the top end down every 400 hours to remove carbon and be sure rings are free. You could never go 1400 hours without any maintainance.
@@Adventurepilot70 sorry I don't understand your saying you put Taiwanese rings and bearings so that's more then just gaskets I have a blue head 582 and I'm just purchasing and I'm trying to learn how to keep it running without buying new cranks every 300 hours like rotax tells you so any tricks you've learned Iam all ears
Why are you running 10% ethanol when rotax states not to run ethanol gasoline?

@@Adventurepilot70 WOW 1489 hours that's pretty incredible 👍
@@Adventurepilot70 well if your doing rings and bearings then the 582 didn't run 1489 hours straight no tear down
