Always a good idea to check that the machine is disconnected from the power source (unplugged or remove battery) before installing or removing blades. And use the safety guard!!

Although it is a good practice to keep the disc face with the printed label downward and tighten the nut on the plain side, but it is not advisable to tighten by gripping the disc. Reason for keeping the label side down is to avoid the emery surface damaging the bottom plate. Always use the supplied wrench and by holding down the lock on the back side. Similarly always use the wrench to unscrew and always remember to remove the cutting disc after use. Otherwise there is every possibility of the disc getting damaged.
As mentioned by some others never use the machine without the guard and safety goggles.

I throw away the wrench tool and just hand tighten the disc, never had a problem, it is obvious you don't use a angle grinder every day!!
For disc cutting , just hand tightened slightly. The rotation will create the force that tightened the nut. But dangerous if twist / change direction when cutting.
But if sanding mode ,no harm done if hand tightened.Those but will tightened itself too

One of the most important issues of using an angle grinder is the disc itself. Do NOT buy cheap discs! The cheap disc will break very quickly and at 10,000+rpm any small object flying out is deadly and without the safety guard the risk increase by x10.

Since I had never used one, I watched a couple of youtube videos and I'm so glad I did. Some really good safety tips, which I followed, and this tool did a splendid job. One good thing to know is the weight of the tool puts just about the right amount of pressure on the metal I was cutting, so I didn't have to use a lot of pressure, which is more likely to jam the tool. It made fast work of my job.

We had an accident while using the grinder. The disc broke and the pieces flew everywhere, sadly my dad was hit on the shoulder. He had 8 stitches. Safety first, put the guard on and wear protective gears. I know it's hard to grind if there's a guard attached but safety is the priority. You'll eventually get used to it.

I have often seen welders not using disc guard. It is dangerous without disc guard. My disc broke 2 times during use. Luckily i was using disc guard and broken pieces of disc didn't come towards me.

It is unsafe to use the grinder without a disk guard. Always tight the disk with the provided key/ tool, not your hand.
Cutting disk and the like have the arrow ➡ to indicate totation direction, always observe and follow that.

For Newbies, please use guard shield. I've seen idiot Newbies broke the blade less than 10 secs. Cut softly and don't change direction.

Guard & handle are missing. Consider readinģ the disc label as it indicates the expiry date of the disc & its rate (rpm). The disc rpm should be higher than the machine rpm.

You will find that most people who use the grinder a lot have removed the guard. I think all the reasons for this can be summed up by saying the guard makes using tool very frustrating, So for these people (like me) it comes down to a matter of either avoiding the tool or using it without the guard. Also when the guard is on, I hate that I cannot see where the entire wheel is at all times, which makes me feel uneasy. For similar reasons, I take the guard off other power tools like the circular saw and table saw. I actually feel safer with the guard of and having the ability to see what the whole blade is doing. Lastly, I feel the direction of the grinder cut-off wheel is a major safety issue, because if it's in correct, the wheel can suddenly get full traction sending the whole grinder toward you while it's still spinning.

How can you be safer without the guard, that's the main purpose of the guard, to make you safe, not the other way around. I've been using power tools and especially an angle grinder for 24 years now, I have no issues with the guards, it protects you, bro!
The first thing I do when aquire a new grinder is throw away the guard and the handle.. 40+ years without an issue..
