Ilaw is Tagalog/Filipino word for light. This speaks of their struggles in dealing with the limelight, and everything that comes with it. This song resonates so well with them, as they sit in the limelight where they at times get to the point where they question if being famous comes with losing their identity, and even if they remain always true and authentic, there are times when they still get misunderstood. The song also describes that they also want respite from the limelight and need to take a rest - ("ngunit kailangan kong magpahinga, patayin ang ilaw pansamantala", meaning, I need rest, turn off the light for sometime.) The song expresses as well that despite the popumairty, they are not hiding anything, as the line "bakit di nyo subukang buksan ang bukas namang pinto" says, which translates to "why don't you try opening the door that is not even closed?" The chorus line "Sino bang may tenga sa mga bulong ko, kahit pa ko'y sumigaw ay malabo" means Who has an ear/who listens to my whispers, that even if I shout I am misunderstood?" This song really hits hard bcause of how SB19 went thru before enjoying this height in their career. They deserve all the accolades they receive because they worked hard and never stop to always aim to be better than their last song/performance.

the song to me is about depression and internal struggle. ILAW in english is LIGHT. and the song talks about how people usually put on a face that they are fine, like puting on a bright light. but when they are on their own, there is darkness in them.

They have an official lyric video with an English translation, but, somehow, pablo loves using deep Filipino words and idioms which sometimes couldn't really be completely expressed in the English translation

You should listen to Pablo’s demos where he sang everyone’s lines before the other guys recorded their parts. He’s a musical genius, deserves to be recognized for his art

aside from all the things that the other A'tin has said, Pablo is the one who also arrange their music and their lines, He is the one that gives and distributed the parts that they are going to sing, giving each member their own moment to shine. iLAW is a song pertaining to not lose yourself in the process of doing what you want what you love, to not let others control you to be what they want you to be, " its okay to be not okay" its okay to turn of the lights and rest, this song helps a lot of people to realize that be in control of yourself, its a reminder that we ahould listen and care to people around us, its not always what you see is what is seems, sometimes people tend to hide their own selves just to please others. this song became an eye opener to some while it became a stepping door for others.
There is no song of SB19 that is not catchy. Thats how great and genius Pablo the composer is, also the coproducer most of their songs, and the arranger.

Pablo really is the mastermind. He also wrote Ilaw (If you watch the official lyric video, you would see that it is composed and co-produced by RADKIDZ (name of Pablo and his brother.)
Pablo actually admitted that Ilaw (pronounced as ee-lah-w) is a very personal song for him, as he can’t help but think of his own experiences when he brought the song to life. The ballad, which was described by the group as a song that brought the emotions all at once-frustration, anger, pain and resignation to dark thoughts. Perhaps, it’s one of the reasons why Pablo and Josh were crying while performing the song during their kick-off show.
That place were they performed is actually not meant for performance and yet, SB19 still slayyed their performance. I always enjoy your reactions to the boys. More power! 😊

ILAW means light. This is such a heartfelt Acoustic song. Very emotional because the message of the song it resonates to a person or people going through dark phase in their lives, prisoned or trap in the darkness (self doubt or struggles), Unheard trying to get out of the limelight that is blinding them. Trying to voice out but no one is listening. Pablo is a Picasso himself when it comes to his musical writing. All the emotions and thoughts of the song piercese to everyone who listens to their music.
Very raw, very sincere, very honest.
This song can also be translates to their experiences. When SB19 started their career they are trying to get out of that shadow of negativity from other people, negative comparisons and non-acceptance. They just want us to hear them to accept them from who they truly are their ownselves, how truly Talented they are which they have proven it very well still with kindness Hard work, dedication, and Love for their artistry.

That way you get to know the boys some more, and in that video this performance will have english cc. You will fully undwrstand why they are showing such emotions as they sung the song. Pablo seems to be expressing how the group felt about being in the limelight and having all eyes trained on them, and yet those who managed them (note: this is an assumption on my part) weren’t listening to what they wanted to do and what direction they wanted to take even if they openly expressing themselves and their thoughts. It’s heartbreaking to us, their fans. We’re glad they’re out of that company now, even if it means having to pay through their teeth in order to keep their name.
