We shared two mutual friends, Deanie Bird and Freddy. Tell me how you guys met and how the trio was formed. I was only around Freddy a few times at Deans home in Nogalus Prarie.Dean had cookout and picking sessions 3 or 4 times a year. I loved them both. Freddy was full of it and always saying something witty. On one occasion he said " Man I sure wish Clint was here".Please give us some history.
A real treat. Masterful and beautiful. And love the historical accounts of times and influences. A great honor and opportunity for us all. Thank you so much Clint Strong. Welcome.
So glad you are doing this Clint! I'm very fortunate to live near you and my gold top les Paul will never sound as good as the day you played some tunes on it. Thanks to Dale Clark for helping you make this happen and Dale is a truly fine player in his own regard. Looking forward to your future posts.....
Hi Clint, glad to see you're active in UA-cam..can you re-incarnate in new video, the solo you did in After You've Gone (w/ FPowers).Probably with some analysis as well wld be great..that solo is the best guitar solo ever for me..
I played drums in a band with my dad in the 2000s and you played with us along with Lollie. They called me Beeper back then maybe you remember or maybe not haha but my dad was Buddy Andrews.
My 1 year old has really been getting into Merle. He makes me listen to Redd Volkaert twice a day (I'm not complaining). I think if he could talk, he'd request some country stuff. I wanna hear some lessons and some stories from the road. Very excited about what's in store for this channel! Thanks for the uploads!
I was just listening to your short video : Clint Strong on Learning and Transcribing Solos. I've been watching that clip for a long, long time, over and over. Saw you in Merritt B.C. with Merle many moons ago. You are such a fine, fine Player of Music who just happens to play Guitar, and I just happen to love Guitar. Are you taking students by any chance? No matter. I support you 1000%. You are a One Of A Kind. Totally subscribed. Your channel is going to grow quick man. Just you wait and see. Thanks for posting.
I've been a fan since my Dad showed me a recording of you with Merle Haggard and Freddy Powers. I know that Merle Haggard has since passed away but I've wondered about Freddy Powers. I really liked that part of the show.
Glad to see you doing your own channel, Clint! I became acquainted with your playing back when I transcribed a bunch of your videos for DG. Looking forward to learning more!
So glad to finally see you on You Tube channel. I’ve been waiting for this for a long long time. You’ve been my greatest hero since I first met and played with you 25 years ago at UNR. I’ll be looking forward to listening to more and more of your great music!
Hey Clint. I am learning your solo on After You've Gone. The one from the video with Freddy Powers. You are amazing, sir. All the best from Northern Ireland!
First discovered Clint when watching Merle on UA-cam and was blown away by his solos. Then started watching and listening to him with Freddy. The sound(tone) he gets on guitar is amazing, I could listen all day. Anyone know who the bass player is with Freddy and Clint. Looking forward to enjoying listening to Clint for many years to come. Best wishes from Ireland.
The first I ever heard or seen of you was with Haggard and I was blown away! Love your work with Freddie Powers too! I am a BIG fan of country/jazz, and you are one of the best I have ever heard in that style. So excited to see you have a channel and I am looking forward to all your posts. Stay well my friend!
Hey Clint..my name is Tyson..I'm jimmy rivers Grandson. I remember as a kid my grandpa telling me about you. It's nice to see u on here. Are u going to be doing lessons or anything like that?
He is in a nursing home in Fort Worth about ten minutes from where I live. I was thinking about giving him a visit. We met a few years ago at a guitar expo in Dallas,,we talked for about twenty minutes, he's a very sweet friendly guy. I'm sure he wouldn't remember me, but it might be nice to get a visit from a fan.
@@davidsheriff9274 That would be great. You sound like a kind soul. Use guitar player got to lookout for each other. We’re all going to end up somewhere when we get older.
so glad to have found this channel ... 1st heard you Clint at 6051 with Floyd Crane, Collin Bailey and Marshal Ivory ... used to sit with your late father every year at DGS to watch you play ... though i dont get back to Dallas thanks for posting to UA-cam so others can hear your great work too ... best regards
I discovered you today. I was watching a video of Joe Diorio dissecting Stella by Starlight and I ended up falling into your tutorial and a band accompanying you. A country look but with impeccable jazz phrasing!
Clint, have you ever listened to Billy Bean? He was a friend and mentor and the best Be Bop guitar player I ever met. You sound beautiful, and your Benedetto sounds as good as it looks. My last name is also Strong, and a friend of my mine showed me a guitar player that played with Merle Haggard, who shared the last name of Strong. Would that, by chance, be you?
Billy Bean was a phenomenal player, Pat Metheny mentions him as a big influence. Have you ever heard Dick Garcia? He was another great beboper that is often overlooked.
I admire all the great players on the list you mentioned. My favorite is Herb Ellis. I know from his books that played out of chord shapes. Is that your approach as well?
You look a little portly Clint. You are younger than me but I hope you haven't taken up drinking like I have. It has put a lot of weight on me. I really like your guitar playing and I hope you live a lot longer and I get to see you in the greater LA area.
When Merle Haggard invited Ciint to play with him and the strangers , is when i first was amazed at Clint's amazing talent .
Clint played on one of my original songs. Amazing player!
Amazing! What’s the name of the song and where can we listen to it?
A true guitarist❤❤❤
I met your dad at a Dallas guitar show one year. Very nice man. Bless him for his inspiration and for setting you on the path at a tender age.
The best, love you Clint !!
Glad you've got a channel old pal! You've got so much to share. All the best to you from this neck of the woods, Con.
Go Clint Strong! Enjoyed your videos years back when you played a Les Paul.
Love you, Clint. You're one of the greats!
Clint I hope all is well. Love your playing. Thanks for the inspiration
I've had several lessons from Clint. He is a true master with an unlimited capacity for jazz!
You are a great guitarist. You have baffled me with your playing since I first saw you with Merle Haggard.

Omg I would love to meet this guy someday. I wish I lived I lived in Texas.
He had a debilitating stroke last year, and can no longer play guitar. He had great chops and a lot of personal demons.
He is in a nursing home in Fort Worth about ten minutes from where I live. I was thinking about giving him a visit.
