Redcat Everest Ascent - SO GOOD That Saying "Impressive" Doesn't Do It Justice

- Thanks to Redcat for sending us this Ascent to review. I've bought several Redcat vehicles in the past and really enjoyed them (Gen8 Scout, Kaiju, SixtyFour). That said, like all reviews we only offer to do them if we can say and show anything we want to about them. What we like and don't like. This is one of the only times I've ever taken the time mid-review to email the company to say how impressed I am with a product. For $299, the Redcat Ascent is very impressive. Normally we say things like, that's typical to have to replace stock servos and trashy tires. This servo works and the tires actually hook up surprisingly well. I've run this on our local comp track now as well and it's a solid rig. The rest of the info...you'll have to watch to hear.

Hi Tony! How you doing brother? The Ascent caught my eye immediately with the boat shaped body for great clearance! Everything that I've seen so far about it looks absolutely amazing for an RTR! Great price too. Redcat gets better with every release! Great video brother! 💯🤜🤛😮

I have those tires on my Wendigo which I took crawling. They did okay crawling a pretty technical stream bed. I did blow them off the glue, but I bought more and some beadlocks. They have a nice composition to them.
I go fishing at our local lake & take my bashers & crawlers there is the perfect terrains for both. I’d like to see it on some steep granite type terrain some steep Moab type terrain. The front end stays pretty planted stock so that’s a good sign. Some one tested it with Hyrax tires on the same line & it was able to complete the lines with the Hyrax. I do like the look of them though.
We don’t have anything like those rocks here. I did some harder lines at our local shop already. Video coming. This things a beast for an rtr.

Get some "wash" , like for minuatures painting and weathering model railroad cars.....and wash the white rims with some brown, give em that used look and i bet they'd look the part ...maybe then some detailing on the lugnuts, or some scratches and rust?
What battery size is recommended with what run time. I will order with XT60 connectors. I am thinking 3s 50c 2200mah but will wait for feedback. Thanks

Is the motor and esc waterproof or just the servo?
I have seen many videos on these two crawlers that REDCAT came out with, and nothing negative about it. They all say the same thing, not a fan of the plastic white wheel and that it's not beadlock. Those tires would do wonders on metal wheel
Is the ascent sorca compliant?
Are the overdrive gears plastic? If so where do you get metal ones.

But also…I really do like the minis. Easy to work on…take up little space…even when you have a lot.
Truck looks awesome but it course redcat had to put a dang cheap body on it. That thing flopping around makes me sad I'll still probably buy it. Should have done a hard body since it's a crawler.

I tried to order that Redcat Ascent today and had a truly HORRIBLE experience with Redcat's customer service that resulted in me canceling the order and telling them where to go. No apologies from them, no nothing. Awful experience. I will NEVER own a Redcat product after this.
That’s a bummer. I’ve never called them to order before. Everything has been done online.
