Duke is one of my favorite Astronauts and talked with him at the Space and Rocket Center a few years back in Huntsville Alabama . Thanks for your Service Mr. Duke.
Really outstanding to listen to General Duke during this intense talk. Just one remark on the wristwatch: As per my knowledge it was Dave Scott, Apollo 15, who reported a damaged wristwatch and then wore a Bulova during his EVA no3. Thank you for sharing. I wish all the yet living Apollo Astronauts well.
I was very excited to see my question at 5:34 in the video. The topic of eye flashes has always been a enigma for me. Thank you very much General Charlie Duke for answering it and many thanks to the Novaspace team for shared it. It would be awesome to meet you in person General Duke in the near future, perhaps at a future Spacefest. The photo in Plum Crater, which I sent to you to autograph it, in this 2024 private signing session, has been one of the most admired space photos by me since I was a child. You really aimed high!!! God bless Charlie!!! Greetings from Uruguay!!! 🤝👍🙋🇺🇾
You are my second fav Apollo astronaut - my first fav is Pete Conrad being another Navy man. I was so happy when you got your ride after being CAPCOM for all previous missions. God bless and Cheers!
I get the impression Charlie Duke was sort of the Radar O’Reilly of the Astronauts. It wasn’t by accident he was scheduled for CapCom, any of them could have done a fine job, but Neil Armstrong wanted Charlie Duke.
Charlie is my favorite. You will sometimes see him in the comments of Apollo/Gemini documentaries on UA-cam, Homemade Documentaries is where I first saw him interacting with us on YT; so cool that someone of his generation still keeps abreast of what’s going on in our little corner of the internet.
Thank You Charlie Duke and NovaSpace. I could listen to these guys once a week. Fred Haise does some Zoom type internet interviews that are just great.
Very gracious, Charlie-Duke. PDI and ascent Apollo profiles so rare. Amazing feat ... complete rational certainty. Riding the Saturn V and so on very easy to discuss now, but the mental aquity to take it all on board takes real decision making. Truly inspirational! What I would ask is ... once PINGS and AGS were done, how did you let John know the view out your side of the LM window seemed clear of boulders that would not be an impediment to landing? Or, was it 'pot luck' in large measure? As I understand it, on 15, Dave Scott had difficulty seeing the surrounding terrain due to the tremendous amount of moondust kicked up by the lander's engine bell.
We claim Charlie Duke as a Tar Heel because he was born in Charlotte. We call him brother because we're both Christians. Love 'ya Charlie! See you up yonder.
Glad you think so! You can help keep the Apollo era memory alive, and support Charlie by purchasing an autograph by him: novaspace.com/product-category/astronaut-autographs/charlie-duke/
Sounds like a noise gate which shuts the sound off when it gets below a certain decibel level. It’s used to eliminate noise although it sounds very abrupt here. Needs a much gentler gate.
I met both Charlie, Buzz and Walt Cunningham, Gary Sinise at the Apollo X1 50th anniversary in Simi Valley july 2019. Wonderful Guys and true heroes!👍 Love from Sweden🇸🇪🇺🇸🇸🇪🇺🇸
Glad he said that he wished he'd have been able to fly the SR71. I'm only a former GA pilot, but even if I hadn't been one, I would have to question the judgement of any pilot that didn't have the Blackbird at or near the top of their list. For me, no two human-made things have ever left the Earth that were sexier than Saturn V and Habu.
Great to hear these anecdotes from Charlie.........but the video is spoilt by the lack of narrated questions instead of the on-screen rubbish.......and the terrible use of a noise gate. This video is well worth re-editing.
@TheWokeFlatEarthTruth Zero independent evidence that humans can breathe 1/3rd atmospheric pressure (5psi and under) of O2 for 2 weeks as in the apollo frauds you fool.
Great interview, and really great questions too. Very well done!
89? Wow!..he's smart as all get out, he's in great shape and a down to earth astronaut. Boys and girls a person to look to for life inspiration.
The USA has a whole different rogues gallery of -felons grifters hustlers liars- men to ‘look up to’ now.

I want to be sharp as a tack like Charlie when I reach his age! What a role model.
Thank you Mr. Duke for sharing. I am almost Giddy that you answered two of my questions. It is a great honor sir.

Good stuff. Thank you for sharing.

Charlie is too important for this choppy audio and insane level of background noise.
He is one of the coolest of all time!

I love hearing Charlie talk about all of these things. But why are there so many drop outs in the sound?
Its some delay when he talked from the moon😉

I would have had some interesting questions, wished I was aware before hand . Great interview!
We did a call for questions on our social media and newsletter! Sorry you missed it!

Really, you couldn't afford a narrator to read the questions. I listen and drive but thank you Mr Duke, not the less.
Following the same format from all the other interviews we did.
The audio is damn annoying, a land phone quality would have outperformed this!

Sorry the Q&A wasn't up to your standards.
Have they been really on the moon?
Why would Rover not last 5 years?
Some of these old farts have told these stories so many times I actually think they believe them to be true.
Guess some are going to their grave with the lies.
LOL - All staged fools.
Only a fool makes a claim without providing evidence to back it up. So where is yours?
