Bro taught himself to play drums by smashing on pillows which offer zero rebound. That's one thing. In his earlier days he was basically at the fitness of an Olympic athlete the way he was drumming. Ridiculous amounts of stamina and power, he has more technique these days so he doesn't burn out, but has still retained the bone crushing power. I don't know, man. The guy is a metronome too.
The drum sound is amazing. Just as good as nevermind and color and the shape in my opinion, but not as polished. I'm guessing we're hearing one of Dave's Nirvana kits, the black artstars maybe. Cymbal sound is less good, but it lends a certain low lo-fi quality. Almost sounds like you're hearing this live, not a perfectly miced and mixed track from an expensive studio. Awesome!
so just to clarify at 1 26 the drum fill is para-diddles? I was having a hard time distinguishing it from the recording. Thank you for the upload. Hope you have more :)
metaldrummer47 one foot on this is so smooth! thanks for the explanation. that is what I thought he is playing, it can be hard to distinguish because his speed is incredible. have a good one!!
@@JohnnyMaiaaa I'm not persuing the joke after his passing. the joke is that it's dave playing on this one, not T. Taylor was a magnificent talent and I miss him dearly.
I'm a guitarist, but I could listen to Grohl's isolated drum tracks all day. Amazing musicianship, a true legend.
Idk how he can hit the drums that hard but keep every timing and strike on point.

I'm assuming they're his black Artstar II's because they're the only drums he still has from Nirvana
