Today (Oct 2 ) is the birthday of my father Jose. Happy birthday dad in heaven. On Oct 12 is the 2nd death anniversary of my mother Helen.
I pray for the eternal repose of their souls.
Thank you for this prayer, Fr Richard. I pray for the souls of my parents especially today, my natal day. I owe them my life. They thought me all about God and brought me up in the Catholic faith. Because of their guidance and love, I have become who I am today. What they taught me, I in turn taught my children. I miss my dearest father and mother and pray for eternal rest for them.

My dad died 3 weeks ago tonight on 1/16/23.
The last 3 weeks( well 5 total cause he was in the hospital for 2 ) have been a cold, dark , lonely road to walk, the prayer footprints in the sand definitely comes to mind because in this dark hour of my life I know Jesus has carried me quite a few times.
I know he’s not in pain anymore and for that I’m of course grateful but it still hurts knowing he’s not a text away anymore.
It’s just sad to think I could text any of the 7 billion people on this planet and not one of them would be my daddy.
No one can ever be him and then it hits me he is gone from this earthly life. It’s a lot for me to process and I’m working on it each day. May he and all the faithful departed souls RIP

Praying for love ones who have died, is not needed. According to Scared Scripture, once an individual dies they are judged by Jesus Christ, and either go to eternal life with God in Heaven, or they go to eternal life with Satan in Hell. There is no intercession with God to change their final rest place.
