Greetings from Ellicottville! I think we were doing the Warwickshire Loop out of Stratford-upon-Avon while you were in France! The boat we had was only 6.5’ wide and 65’ long. They vary in length from 40-70’ long. We had great weather for the most part and had a marvelous time. The French canals are on our bucket list!
Vivre comme Dieu en France. Nice video and music. Really fallen in love with those canals in France as I do live just 40 mins drive from French border.
We're preparing to do the same trip for one week starting next Saturday. From Joigny up the Canal du Nivernais and we hopefully reach Clamecy within 3 days before returning. Thank you for the valuable boating tips!
Damn.. at 3:13 you took off like a bat outta hell all's the boat needed was a pair of tires you would have left peel outs!! 🤣😜✌🏼❤️🙏🏼Luv U TWO!!! HAPPY SAILING INTO 2023 and FAIR WINDS MY FRIENDS!! I LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOUR NEW BOAT!!! If it's the ORION I'm thinking of, she is a 😍⛵ ⚓ 😍🙏🏼🧿🕉️🎀🎄🎀
Another gem from Paul and Sheryl... The Nivernais is a beautiful canal I have seen lots of Vlogs on trips on the Nivernais and yours is right up there. And Sheryl looks as gorgeous as she did in 2012 on your last trip. Keep up the good work guys. Max. Australia.
Great video, I love the water so if I ever get to Europe I would first need to sail across the Atlantic. I hate flying but if an emergency comes up I guess I'll climb onto the big aluminum bird. Take care stay safe and fair winds to you. From Charlie
Canal boating is a fun way to see inland France and bareboat chartering means that no transatlantic passage is required. 😊 Thanks for your good wishes!
Just have to remember traveling and seeing everything in between makes it a journey. I'm now living in a travel trailer and spending time at each area is interesting because every place is unique. I just don't like flying, so an ocean Crossing is more to my liking. Stay safe everyone and take care.
I took six different groups on week long canal trips. All totally loved the experience because I let others (mostly female) drive the boat most of the time. That’s part of the enjoyment…
Great animations, and arial views of squeezing into those narrow locks. Must've been a bit tense for the captain, but the scenery is so bucolic! Thanks for the great tips for a leisurely motor boat ride through the countryside!
All those extra line handlers/ helmsmen and no mast to bonk your head on or keel to ground, that's a great way to travel 🙂 thanks for the video. I haven't been to France since before covid. I miss it
True when you go north you will get less hours of sunlight and the angle of incedence will be lower, but solar panels perfrom better at lower temperturers. Also, we use hybrid panels that get energy from two wavelengths and a broader angle of incidence than simple monocrystal panels and we would recommned that you use this style of high effeciency panels. Also, you might consider instant on demand hot water heaters if you want to do mostly electric.
Question: Will you show the insulation process? I am super curious to see how the insulation of aluminium yachts is done. Also - Great channel. I especially appreciate this boat build series. Awesome stuff!
At 4:08 you're setting up something on the table below the bimini. Obviously you were able to navigate with bimini up, but could you tell me what the height was from the waterline to top of bimini & was there ever a height restriction to be concerned about?
Height is 3.5 meters MAX and indeed we had to remember to take down the bimini to go under most of the bridges!!! Height with bimini on that boat was 3.8m or so!
Check out Locaboat website here www.locaboat.com/en/pricelist/ We had the very biggest (and costliest) of their boats. For just 2-4 people you might look at 11 meter craft. www.locaboat.com/en/boats/penichettes-aft-deck/p1120r/
Very nice, but the obligatory accordion music with anything French is maybe a bit used up. You might also want to consider holding the shots a bit longer to give time to absorb everything. We got more than 15 minutes.
Those French, and English especially, canals are a great way to see the country and interact with the locals way off the tourist path but so tiny that it seems apparent the renting is the only way to go. I'd lose my mind if I bought a nice $1M+ boat and some gin or vin swilling local on holiday banged his barge off my baby.
What a wonderful video guys!! Thanks for sharing!!!!
Glad you enjoyed it, Jorge! Thanks for your comment.

Fabulous! Can’t wait to go myself. Fair winds!

Awesome video 👌👍👏🥰😍 Thank you for sharing with us and inspiring us and giving us ideas 💡 for our next holidays. This is awesome 👌 👏 😎 🙌

Have fun!
Did this trip a few years ago and it's still high on the list of our bareboat trips. Thanks for bringing back those memories.

Fantastic trip through the meandering channels of France. Truly a ride through history. 👏👏

Cruise ships travel from the caribean to the med in spring and return in autumn.

Thanks for sharing - as always a nice mix of boat handling and wonderful travel ideas.
What a lovely episode!!! You gave me a new idea for next summer holiday!

Wish we could have joined you! Great video.
It was a great trip
Life is simply better on a boat.
We did this trip in 2017 and was a wonderful experience. Thank you for sharing this
Great video folks. Looks like a lot of fun!
Thanks Gareth 🙏🏻
Wow great video. I don't know how to sail. I like to watch your video. French canal awesome.
So good - we've done some houseboating in BWCA, but I think its time for a canal trip. Nice to see them letting folks bareboat it.
wow
Thank you
Thankyou 👍

Locks of practice 👍
Nice report ❤
I hope all channels are 2 meter deep so I can get my sail boat back for the med toward Holland
Here is a chart of the water depths of the various French Canals. Hope this helps. www.french-waterways.com/practicalities/canal-depths/
Basically you need to draw no more than 1.8m 😅

That seems like such a cool trip ballpark what is something like that cost for two weeks just the boat rental?

le nivernais le plus beau canal de france pierrot de paris
I’m sorry we haven’t seen the Nivernais yet… hopefully sometime 👍

Thanks Brent! You’re right that I had much less stress with the rental than when we took our own boat.
Wow somebody hostile to the Canadian flag still nice video.
The French enjoy a 32 hour work week but doesn't pay to support NATO...as the US picks up the tab.
You are a troll. Go away, your comment has no place here.
