I like using lures because it can last for years without decomposing or smelling bad. It also depends on what I’m targeting, bluegill are pepperoni and muskie and bass are lures. But I have caught a bluegill on my whopper plopper 90f with feather treble hooks. I also use a little piece of a soft plastic for bluegill as an alternative to pepperoni.
I like lures because I love watching how they move and trying to imitate a live fish with my own technique. It is way more fun for me than relying on the smell of bait.
I personally prefer live bait because it kinda feels cool that you don’t have to reel it in every 10 seconds and you can just let it sit there and replace it when it dies
It’s fun to know that they bit the bait you picked, but what’s even more fun is feeling the fish just annihilate that lure especially when it’s a moving bait.
I caught both of my PB steelhead trout in the middle of winter with a spiral-tail grub on a small octopus hook with a split shot a few inches from the lure. It took a couple hours for each one, thousands of casts, and I had to clear the ice out of my eyelets every other cast, but eventually patience paid off.
@austinhernandez2716 Then don't expect to catch any big ones lol They move through slowly in the winter, and they're a lot more likely to actively take a lure when they're not focused on spawning.
Majority of the time, I tend to use lures over live bait especially when I'm fishing for largemouth bass. Panfish like crappies I'll use either one or a combination of both
I use both. If I'm fishing I usually have a rod in the water with a worm on it, then I use the other rod. Works best with Mepps aglia spinner, lures some perch that love to take your worms
You are 100% correct I never knew what it was that made me love using lures but saying how your tricking the fish is truly the most satisfying thing your definitely right on about that.
I usually use lures because they're less of a hassle. I don't need an extra container to transport them, they're good forever (until I inevitably snag them on the bottom), the lack of expiry date makes it easier to go fishing on a whim, and I just think they're neat.
Bait but I definitely like switching it up with a lure. Lure is probably the most satisfying way to catch a fish, but sometimes I just wanna catch some dinner
Anyone can confidently have a popular opinion, doesnt mean it's automatically worth more salt. I think of it this way, you're more guarenteed to have success/ a good time, much less likely to leave Litter (if the lure gets stuck/ knot breaks off) by using bait. But to each their own
It depends on what the fish are biting on. I'll use whatever works best for each situation. I carry an assortment of various things in my fishing vest. I've had luck on all kinds of things. It sounds like your buddy named fish needs better hygiene.😊
I don’t have a lot of money to spend on fishing tackle and I’m just starting, so I’ll usually have to use bait if I don’t already have a lure that works for the water I’m fishing.
It's always live bait for me when I go for catfish like bluegills and shad , but rooster tail spinners for trout, Texas rigged zoom worms and rebel poppers for bass, and last the bobby garland jig for crappies, it's a strange mix for meh
i prefer using bait. Also i prefer watching people use spin rods, rather than using them. It's about quantity+ quality with me. Can't be bothered to throw a rod and walk all day for what is going to be a few fish
I’ve always used both, my grandpa was a trout fisherman. He taught me how to be patient by making me use bait like worms or power bait and a bobber and making me just sit there and watch the poles. He’d be fly fishing or a lure out in the creek or river that we were at.
I usually use lures but have terrible luck for them. Like 50% of my fishing trips have me lose atleast one. And I don't catch anything. Using lures is depressing ngl, luckily I mainly fish saltwater now.
I almost exclusively use bait for catfish and other less aggressive and predatory fish. That being said it is a awesome feeling to head down to the creek, scoop up a little minnow, and feel a 2 pound small mouth take out your slack real quick
I use mostly bait cause I’m terrible at lures. If I don’t catch anything for a little while I always doubt myself and switch lures cause I never know if I’m using them the right way or in the right environment
Honestly your branding on this channel has been so effective. I used to only scream FISH ON FISH ON in the Jeremy Wade accent. But now I also say aaand sure enough
It's really not the best situation, for the fish, when you release them, in that fashion. It removes a considerable amount of it's protective slime, when you let them slide through your hand, like that. No hate, though.... just passing on a little helpful info, to a fellow lip jerker. 🤜🤛💪
Generally use artificial as well but when times are tough I’ll switch to live shad or worms when I take my little boys fishing with me to keep them engaged lol
Yea but when you hit that snag and have to cut the line. You are leaving a piece of plastic in the water for years to come that may or not kill another fish for thinking that it's food. Lots of waters are filled with this stuff. I respect your reasoning though and preference. just some food for thought.
I think it just matters that whatever method of fishing you are using, you are conscious about minimizing your impact on the environment! Bait can be far worse than lures, it honestly depends on who is using it and how. A lot of people that fish bait in my area set up chairs and throw trash everywhere while they are waiting for fish… Even during the process of fishing for the bait, countless sabiki lines with bobbers attached end up getting lost in the water, which hook fish and trap them. Also I don’t like killing the fish I catch via letting them swallow my bait hook. Lures allow me to release healthy fish.
I just got into fishing and there is only one spot near my house that has fish, is free, and is public, so it's extremely over fished. I tried using lures for the first week or two and caught literally no fish., then as soon as I started using live bait I started getting catches. I got 6 today. I think the fish just know what's a lure and what's a bug. Either that or I'm doing it wrong haha
When I want to avoid getting skunked I'll use live bait, but as of recent, I've been using artificial much more because I realize the more that I use artificial, the better I get at using it and the less I get skunked.
I throw out a line of catfish rigs then while I wait on my chicken liver and gizzard shad to get hit I'll walk up and down the bank with artificial seeing what I can catch

Mmmm I love Righteous Felon Jerky! My favorite is a tie between Maryland Monroe and Fowl Capone. What’s your favorite?

and sure enough there it is
@@zachanderson3112 i use just meat
I like lures because I love watching how they move and trying to imitate a live fish with my own technique. It is way more fun for me than relying on the smell of bait.
I like using lures because it brings a challenge into catching certain fish
Agreed👍👍
What? Lures are easy mode lmao
Its always, “AND SURE ENOUGH”
Generally I go live because most of the time I'm targeting flathead catfish. As for bass I'm always using lures. Big fan of the Ned rig
I think both have their place. I do agree that faking a fish out is a good feeling with plastics or a lure.
Some people will throw a hissy fit and call you a child if you use live bait
I personally prefer live bait because it kinda feels cool that you don’t have to reel it in every 10 seconds and you can just let it sit there and replace it when it dies
It’s fun to know that they bit the bait you picked, but what’s even more fun is feeling the fish just annihilate that lure especially when it’s a moving bait.
I prefer lures most days. The big reason for me is i find i rarely gut hook a fish with a lure. With fresh baits it's so easy to deep hook them.
There are some places I swear lures won't work at, like small creeks in the winter. Or super murky flooded ponds in the winter.
@@hanburgundy4317Spending multiple hours and thousands of casts for one fish? Yeah fuck that. Do if you want, but I'm not wasting my time on that
@austinhernandez2716
Then don't expect to catch any big ones lol They move through slowly in the winter, and they're a lot more likely to actively take a lure when they're not focused on spawning.
I may not care for sponsored content but I have to admit that plug was SMOOTH
Majority of the time, I tend to use lures over live bait especially when I'm fishing for largemouth bass. Panfish like crappies I'll use either one or a combination of both
bait also tends to gut hook. lures are more likely to hook the mouth
I prefer lures they are just simpler and last longer
Lures for the win. Soft and hard plastics for bass and the fly rod for panfish.
I use both. If I'm fishing I usually have a rod in the water with a worm on it, then I use the other rod. Works best with Mepps aglia spinner, lures some perch that love to take your worms
With bait the fish often swallow the hook and die, I fish lures so I can release the fish I catch.
You are 100% correct I never knew what it was that made me love using lures but saying how your tricking the fish is truly the most satisfying thing your definitely right on about that.
I like the complexity of tricking fish with fly fishing techniques
I usually use lures because they're less of a hassle. I don't need an extra container to transport them, they're good forever (until I inevitably snag them on the bottom), the lack of expiry date makes it easier to go fishing on a whim, and I just think they're neat.
Bait because I like supporting my local tackle shop.
Bait but I definitely like switching it up with a lure. Lure is probably the most satisfying way to catch a fish, but sometimes I just wanna catch some dinner
With the right lure in the right place you'll catch far more than you would with bait
bait, if I don't get the fish, I want it to win something. My version of sportsmanship
when i was taught to fish in 2014, i used worms, Since then ive caught 2 fish on a lure
Since I usually use lures, I think it's exiting using minnows or small fish for bait, as something im not used to
I’m still new to fishing so when it comes to lures I’m completely clueless. I’d like to try using them tho
I can do both but nothing beats the anticipation of a strike when using lures
I use that same one. You can use this thing really really slow and pick up a good many finicky fish.
I’ve recently started back fishing and really want to give lures a try, never used them much
Bro did not list his video as having a paid promotion
I like both bait and lures but i tend to lean toward bait
Anyone can confidently have a popular opinion, doesnt mean it's automatically worth more salt. I think of it this way, you're more guarenteed to have success/ a good time, much less likely to leave Litter (if the lure gets stuck/ knot breaks off) by using bait. But to each their own

I enjoy both. However, sometimes bait is more boring than lures are. Fishing on bait is a science, using lures is an art.
I don’t care really , as long as I’m catching fish , I tend to use lures in the spring and summer and bait in the fall and winter!
Depends, if I wanna catch stuff bait, if I wanna feel cool lures all the way. Which I usually use crayfish I catch then use them as live bait
Bait for night fishing when you let it sit but when you’re casting lots I use lures
Live bate on catfish, crappie lures on bass and others
I caught 9 bass in 10 casts one time on one of those jigs. Except mine was a feather tail and it was in a fairly large pond.
Smelly fish balls got me laughing😂😂😂
It depends on what the fish are biting on. I'll use whatever works best for each situation. I carry an assortment of various things in my fishing vest. I've had luck on all kinds of things.
It sounds like your buddy named fish needs better hygiene.😊
I use a mix of both day to day just depends what they are wanting to feed on consistently
I don’t have a lot of money to spend on fishing tackle and I’m just starting, so I’ll usually have to use bait if I don’t already have a lure that works for the water I’m fishing.
Personally when I have the opportunity I use a lure rod and a bait rod one to sit and one to cover water
Artifical all summer.
Gotta use natural bait here in Northern Minnesota if the winter through the ice though.
How thick is the ice right now?
It's always live bait for me when I go for catfish like bluegills and shad , but rooster tail spinners for trout, Texas rigged zoom worms and rebel poppers for bass, and last the bobby garland jig for crappies, it's a strange mix for meh

There’s just something about lakes/ponds that look like that, especially when it’s cold. Cold Water Fish Haven
“And sure enough,”
I usually use lures but have terrible luck for them. Like 50% of my fishing trips have me lose atleast one. And I don't catch anything.

Aaaartificial barbless flies for me! :)
i get most luck when i catch live bait from the body of water i want to fish. they’ll never get used to live bait like they will w plastics.
I cant say with i like more but a bait and a poper got me my best fish jet
I almost exclusively use bait for catfish and other less aggressive and predatory fish. That being said it is a awesome feeling to head down to the creek, scoop up a little minnow, and feel a 2 pound small mouth take out your slack real quick
Lures. Ive spent so much money on them, so i like to use them. Theyre fun to collect and go to the tackle shop and pick out a new one
100% agree on the enjoyment of using lures and tricking fish!! 🙌✌️🤙
I use mostly bait cause I’m terrible at lures. If I don’t catch anything for a little while I always doubt myself and switch lures cause I never know if I’m using them the right way or in the right environment
"Cold water brown trout."
Pretty sure that's a rainbow
I feel like my success rate is just vastly higher with bait
"And sure enough"
Honestly your branding on this channel has been so effective. I used to only scream FISH ON FISH ON in the Jeremy Wade accent. But now I also say aaand sure enough
he's right catching fish on a lure is better than on bait

I once found two sealed packs of righteous felon jerky sitting in a puddle on my walk home from class. It was delicious lol
Bro that trout was straight eyeballing you😂
I was honestly raised on using bait, but I have been using more and more artificial of late.
Generally use artificial as well but when times are tough I’ll switch to live shad or worms when I take my little boys fishing with me to keep them engaged lol
Lures not only are cooler but are more fun to fish with
Personally I like lures because I agree it is cool tricking the fish but most of the time bait is the killer really gets the fish you know
That jerky looked delicious….
where I live in New Zealand there's so many trout your not allowed to use bait only lures
Both working equally well for me
LURES FOR SURE. I love to make them too! Something so cool about the intersection of art, nature, and sport.
Orange power bait worm and a Texas rig, never caught so many chain pickerel.
Yea but when you hit that snag and have to cut the line. You are leaving a piece of plastic in the water for years to come that may or not kill another fish for thinking that it's food. Live bait a fish every 5-10 minutes lures 1or 2 an hour
I like bait it’s just easier for my style of fishing and I keep losing lures to fallen trees
I just got into fishing and there is only one spot near my house that has fish, is free, and is public, so it's extremely over fished. I tried using lures for the first week or two and caught literally no fish., then as soon as I started using live bait I started getting catches. I got 6 today. I like using whatever works!!! Surf fishing is a lot harder than any other type of fishing ESPECIALLY in the Northern west coast
When I want to avoid getting skunked I'll use live bait, but as of recent, I've been using artificial much more because I realize the more that I use artificial, the better I get at using it and the less I get skunked.
Bought wax worms today. No bites. Ended up taking 3 12"+ browns home with spoons
I use mostly lures because my stupid spaz brain likes retrieving constantly lol
"bait" a fresh worm is the best and i dont like lure couse some is metal lures and plastic lure is just not the same as fresh bait
I throw out a line of catfish rigs then while I wait on my chicken liver and gizzard shad to get hit I'll walk up and down the bank with artificial seeing what I can catch
I like both but bait does work better in general
I’ve been trying to catch a fish on this same lure for 3 years
Take off the barb to avoid having to destroy the fishes mouth.
Live bait is for the kids. Lures are for people who enjoy fishing.
I have the exact same lure and btw it works very good for perch
Idk why I can’t catch shit on lure, yes Ik how to work the action and rig them correctly. But live bait works best for my location.
I have no patience for using bait so I'm lures all the way.
I use lures but my dad use bait we get the same result
I caught my biggest northern with a minnow but im trying to use lures more often
Bait on a bobber it feels classic
My grandsons kill it using bait. I'm useing lures.
Just depends on the fish I’m targeting
