You have been one of the most fun channels to follow during this race. Infectious energy, persistence, determination, fun times, tough times, it's all been there. Thank for bringing us along in your journey Conrad.
Hardly anyone deserve a proper support more than you, Conrad! You've done exceptionally well, both competitively and in terms of your comms. Awesome job! 💯🏆
It’s been an absolute pleasure to follow you Conrad. You’re a fantastic communicator and a brilliant sailor. Excellent to hear that you’re going again!
Your approach to this race, always positive and with a smile even in the most difficult situations, has been remarkable. I fully support your project of “zero” fossil fuels and I believe this should be embraced by Imoca class. Kudos Conrad!
wow! Thank you Conrad to share this video and BRAVO for not burning any fossil fuel ! what an achievement!!!! you are close to the arrival! Have a very nice time on your boat that brought you around the world, for the last hours! and wishing you more wind!!!!!!
Another trip around the blue marble, Conrad you are a pleasure to follow. I love watching you sail as you frequently take a different route than the pack. Nice job sailing without breaking the stick. Look forward to following you in other projects in these intervening 4 years. But whether i am watching or not Conrad “Show them your stern”! Thanks
Dear Conrad, it has been a pleasure following you. You are right. The boats must evolve. Skippers must all have ecological concerns like you. We also need to think about measures to protect cetaceans. Thank you for your mentality, your enthusiasm, your quality videos. We will follow you in the next Vendée Globe, that's for sure!
Conrad you are the best ! Enjoy the last bit of calm before the storm of arriving back to terra firma - So happy for you. What an adventure . Thankyou for sharing so beautifully ❣
Thanks for sharing so much of the journey, Conrad! It’s been great following along the Vandée Globe and your boat in particular. Congratulations on a solid finish. Looking forward to what comes next!
Super communication, super pédagogie tout au long de ce Vendée globe ⛵️☕️👍🙏 très belle arrivée au Sable 💪 Rom’s sera là pour ton arrivée , encore Bravo à toi 🌏😉
You are amazing Conrad!! Thank you so much for sharing with all of us your adventure with so much passion and enthusiasm. I'm a BIG fun of yours and I look forward to following you along in your next adventures. Thank you to you and your team for a wonderful race, and for each and every video sharing your experience of sailing around the world with us.
I've loved following you around the world, Conrad. I hooked onto you way back when the yachts all went one way and you and Jean Le Cam went the other way. I thought...those are my guys. And then, not speaking French, Jean's crosses weren't anything compared to your amazing crosses. So, as you near the finish line, with Monsieur Le Cam almost in sight of you, I salute you and thank you for taking me along on your ride.
Hey Conrad, the sail-a-long was one of my key takeaways from this edition for so many reasons not least because of your openness and willingness to educate. Thanks and I wish you every success
Great job Conrad! It will be very interesting to follow the progress of the development of the Sailing Team and to see what Sponsors jump on board for the ride.
Well done Conrad!! Thank YOU for taking us along with you on this tough and challenging journey. You had me laughing, on the edge of my seat, learning about the weather, learning about everything that makes your boat sail ( loved the lesson on ropes) and sharing your views across and in, the ocean! Will be on the lookout as you build towards 2028 VG....from Portugal 😊
It has been a pleasure following your youtube posts. What an amazing adventure. With only a few miles to go it must be an exhilarating feeling reaching the end and being able to celebrate your achievement. At The Sir Peter Blake Torbay Regatta we enjoyed your personalised message from the South Atlantic. We extend an invitation to you when you manage to get back to New Zealand to come and visit us at the Torbay Sailing Club on the Auckland North Shore. Perhaps you are in New Zealand early December for the next edition of the SPBTR Regatta and you can make an appearance in person.
You are awesome!!! I have loved seeing the race through your eyes. Thanks for your good spirit and positive energy! That is always appreciated. Well done!!! xoxo
Dear Conrad, the time flew by on this fascinating VG, your videos were so special and generous really making us feel alongside and opening a wide window to the magic of offshore ocean racing, and solo no less, you are an important part of this event, I am so happy to have followed you, will never forget the underwater boat inspection, a well deserved rest soon and a bright future on your next sailing projects which many of us anticipate, 😊🎉😊🎉😊🎉😊 🎉 sail safe dear Conrad😊😊😊
I’ve become a real fan of you and your green boat in the last couple months, watching you race has been a real pleasure and I want to thank you for the hours of entertainment and the deep insights into the challenges you have faced. I’m a yacht captain here in the pacific northwest of the United States and I do a lot of maintenance to other peoples boats. I want you to know that I added 200 watts of solar to my personal boat because of the trouble free time you’ve had instead of buying a generator
A proper conclusion to this finish would be a Jean/Conrad duet: "I knew we'd meet again some sunny day." Congratulations, maestro, and welcome back !!! Quite the ride it has been.
Well done Conrad, I have enjoyed everyone of your videos as you sailed around the globe. You are a fantastic communicator which has stoked my enthusiasm for your mammoth ordeal while also educating. Not sure what I am going to with myself now but already looking forward to 2028.
So nice, no engine. There was probably noice enough on board and great not to have the tractor going as well. CONGRATULATIONS and a big thank you for taking us along. Will think of support for 28! For now, enjoy the finish.
Thank you for your wonderful personal and informative insights, will be an absolute blast to follow your further sailing adventures even for a landlubber. Massive congrats!!!
Bravo Conrad ... Sable d'Olonne is soooo close you can smell the fresh veggies and feel the hugs from your family (oh yeah, and maybe a warm shower) :) Stay strong and focused! And congrats on again using no fossil fuels.
Well done to u and yr team. Great to see u flying the Kiwi flag. Im hoping more Kiwi's get involved and maybe a Kiwi could stand on the podium one day.
Still only 48 nm to go.🎉🎉🎉 Its peanuts.... but could seems perhaps long without wind. Your mind is so creativ, even your goals, i'm sure you will find support for this project, because your personality, your know how is magic🎉😊🎉 Thank you for sharing, see you in les sables in the chanal😊🎉😂
Hi Conrad, you deserve a meddle for ticking so many boxes in reducing carbon footprint you've started something that all should follow especially the race organisers have got to take it seriously you've proved its possible so there's no excuses. I met you with my wife in Lorient when you were prepping the boat it was a privilege to have met you and to have followed your journey, I would love to be involved in anyway I can to help support your next adventure
Wonder if I can claim a Trans Tasman victory (soon)😂😂😂😂 A kiwi is nearly an Aussie😅 Thank you for trying to de mystify the yatch, the skipper and the journey- it made it interesting (informative) Jan Sth A💙
Congrats Conrad and thanks for the video! One curiosity: 80+ days without turning the engine on at all, could it happen that it doesn't work if you ever needed it?
wow! Your journey has been much longer than only the Vendee Globe. I hope to see you again in 2028. If you need a French-Spanish-English-German speaking sailing fan with strong nerves and a great sense of humour and many other qualities, let me know. I'd love to apply for a job in your team. Totally serious.Stay safe during the last hours.
The idea of replacing the "100-year old tractor" technology is a great way to put it, and intriguing. Is there much of a weight difference between the electric equivalent? In other words: how many kg is a diesel engine + 200 liters of fuel compared to kg of an electric motor and an equivalent amount of battery storage and generation capacity (solar, wind, hydro)? It seems that allowing the use an electric motor (during the race!) would still be in the spirit of sailing IF all the power for it were self-generated while at sea! Self-generating enough electricity to strictly motor around the world faster than sailing seems implausible, but it would give an advantage when becalmed, and spur improvements.
While I didn't hear you say it explicitly, I think you are suggesting that auxiliary propulsion going forward might be electric motors? That of course leads to questions regarding battery capacity and weight and the tradeoffs with the the fuel and weight of diesel... By 2028 I would expect those should be pretty close... Cheers!
The fuel taken on board and used for energy on board during the race represents 150 to 200 kg, depending on the boats (some use much less - Yannick Bestaven for example, and therefore Conrad not at all) here is a basis for reflection in relation to weight.
