The natural dynamic between you guys is fun to watch! The serious, more analytic takes of Filmento, and the more energetic, fanboy attitude of Moviemento. Two opposites united for the same goal. Wait...
The plot is paper thin, so many scenes ape moments in the previous movies, it disregards about 75% of what's come before in the franchise... AND I AM HERE FOR IT!
I think that's the real lesson here. Not every movie has to be a schindler's list of emotional impact, but if you're going to do some nostalgia baiting fan service, then just do it and go all out and the audience will respect that. That said, this movie wasn't possible 20 or even 10 years ago. There was so much history that went into making each of these elements come together the way they did.
If you didn't like Deadpool and wolverine character yes it's paper thin. But if you are fan of them, I think it's not paper thin. Vanessa breaks Deadpool because he didn't know what he want to do. Deadpool wants to have a value, wolverine have a trauma and regrets. And in the end they both want to sacrifice for their life and realize and do what they didn't see to themselves.
I think that's the thing. As far as character building exercises, Wolverine has a long series of movies that goes far harder and Deadpool is a comedy about an inherently tragic and broken character who just cannot fit in that is built up in the last 2 movies. Part of what makes the movie works is that it assumes you know *exactly* who these people are going into it, and just want to mash them together like a kid watching X-men in the late 90's/early 2000's. We aren't going to get *that* many deep drives because there are already plenty of movies that do that far better, but we watch it because we want to have fun when these two very established personalities collide and the action that spawns from that. Self loathing stoeic hate machine who is only good at murdering, and self loathing merc who's comedy is only matched by being a living cockroach. Which isn't to say it isn't character driven, clearly this movie was written to cater to people who want to fangasm over all this stuff but it's written in such a way where that knowledge isn't essential if we just want stupid action. I think that sense of fun is great to have in movies, there are a lot of movies I wouldn't consider anything more then sticking an actor in a typecast role and watching them chew scenery, but it works because the movie was designed with people with those expectations. Deadpool and Wolverine is very much that movie, and is fantastic or eh because of it. As far as plots go it's probably the weakest deadpool movie and flaker then Wolverine Origins, but it's presentation and indulgance is what makes it a great watch.
Honestly it was also great to have a lot of characters who were screwed over in the films they were in get some redemption. Gambit, Blade, Electra, all these characters were absolutely terrible in the films they were in previously (well Blade it was his last film but you get it), so its great to see them get to be the heroes they should be.
Only thing I'm disappointed by is that the movie is more like "Deadpool 3 guest starring a variant of Wolverine". It would've been interesting if this also functioned as the 4th Wolverine movie, incorporating more drama to balance out the comedy. Heck, Civil War functioned as a Captain America sequel, continuation of Iron Man's arc, Spider-Man reboot, Black Panther introduction, Avengers 2.5, etc...
9:47 that’s not a problem for Deadpool, all his joking around is to hide the fact that he’s a deeply depressed, self loathing monster. The movies don’t delve into it much but that’s what he is
@@senate2674 Half agree. The writing for basically everything in the movie EXCEPT Wade and Logan's story are bad, because most of it is very half assed.
What I like about this movie is that despite it being comedic in nature, is how serious it can get it times and how strong the characterization was and surprisingly good the story was. The comedy is more of a lubricant for everything going on to make everything digestible by making the absurd proceedings that occur more believable. All the while not being to distracting.

ok, I'm taking the bait GAMBIT IS ONE OF THE COOLEST MUTANT FROM THE CARTOONS. OF COURSE PEOPLE ARE EXCITED TO SEE HIM APPEAR IN HIS OVER THE TOLD OLD COSTUME, AND ACTUALLY HAS FOCUS ON HIM. Agree with most points, it finally felt so good to have an MCU movie that is without the usual pathos and heroic sacrifice, it's the underdogs of a setting who are aware of them being mistreated by the MCU, trying to salvage something. And as it takes place in the wastebin of the MCU designing table, everything is game, and they go HARD with it.
D&W's cameos had that final farewell factor. Its the end of Fox and everyone in the void were properties Disney didn't care to use. Gambit is a whole story on his own. Channing Tatum having wanted to play the character, got turned down like Ryan did. Fox refused to allow Gambit in X-men despite him being a core character. (Probably because they aged down Rogue into 12 year old, and a lot of Gambit's story is his romance with Rogue)

About the Michael Bay thing, I think it's time for people to acknowledge that the man was/is very, very good at making entertaining movies. Not cinema, no masterpieces, but highly entertaining. Sure, when hollywood said "this man is a genius, give him all the money and full control over everything" things went south, like it's happened to every director that has been given all that. But give him a decent writer and a producer who's not afraid of telling him something is dumb and the man will produce magic, or at least something that will keep you thoroughly entertained for two hours. See Bad Boys, Ambulance, The Rock, heck, even Armageddon
Michael Bay does have a lot of influence in modern movie making and he made some entertaining movies, some of the transformer sequels were dumb but he had some watchable movies.

I didn't go to the cinema for any Marvel movie. Last superhero movie I went to was X-Men Apocalypse (fail). But they got me with this one, well played.
I think the characters extremes help create interesting dynamics between characters or at least breed conflict for it to be entertaining. I have read some books that the characters aren't distinct enough in their actions to have good dynamics

The greatest parts of Deadpool and Wolverine are when Deadpool dances with Logan’s corpse to fight the TVA to NSYNC’s Bye Bye Bye, Deadpool and Wolverine’s fight in the void with the 20th Century Fox logo, the battle against Cassandra Nova in the Giant-Man base with Elektra, Blade, Gambit, (wooimbouttamakeanameformyselfere) and Laura, the Deadpool Corps arriving, Wolverine finally putting his mask on, and Deadpool and Wolverine supercharging matter and antimatter, whilst Wolverine rips off his shirt to show his abs, to defeat Cassandra Nova and saving the Multiverse. even if he's alive he's damage cause some blessings at the end, sure he may be did some things like that but if the corporate care for fans they will not want to messed things up, also i don't like avi arad but his work create some bridge to a more unexpected collab like this we wouldn't know if even without him marvel would be like this. MCU is not perfect neither the other films the came before, but are we sure without avi Arad everything will be fine and great? this is Hollywood someone who doesn't care but business will end up damaging film industry, with or without the worse people like avi arad or Kathleen Kennedy.
You are mixing Arad with Rothman, Sony's current CEO who used to be 20th century Fox CEO and the same one who meddled with the production of the superheroes movie made by the studio because he didn't trust the genre.
Transformers 1 Success wasn’t because of Michael Bay, it was James Cameron who made the version of the movie that Michael Bay Directed. Sure the Script was tweaked but the skeleton of James original script was still doing the majority of the heavy lifting.
I think part of what hit me with the movie was that, in the grand scheme of things, this could have been a movie independent of the MCU and it would have changed very little. Heck, as far as I can tell, it has no larger impact on the MCU itself. It's not a building block to some larger scale cinematic event, it's not trying to be some thesis on the nature of humanity, and it's not trying to be something philosophers will pore over in the years to come. The characters are who they are, we see their human elements (however exaggerated they may be at times), and we don't have to analyze everything to understand. It's an easy movie to understand in the ways that are important, and because it's easy to understand, it makes it that much easier to just enjoy watching it and have fun. It's entertaining. Sometimes, it feels like the entertainment industry is so focused on "is it art" or "how do we maximize profit" that they miss the point of "is it entertaining?", which often covers the first two parts. Deadpool and Wolverine isn't a museum art piece, it's a fun time of laughs and feels.
Wolverine's skull made an epic flail. DP is actually a great character. He is so different than most heroes, that he makes a good pairing with other heroes for a heroic goal - because of the sheer contrast. He's pretty powerful and skilled, but he has plenty of flaws. Like Superman, he has plenty of abilities at his disposable, but the biggest ones aren't available for instant gratification. He's highly skilled & fun to watch, but he also has a huge amount of baggage. He CAN work as a main dish, but he works even better as a spice or a condiment. If appears again, that would probably be the best use - as part of someone else's movie
Could you imagine seeing a five foot six inch tall Wolvie in all these movies? It's shocking to think that's his height in the comics but Wolvie really is a short block of muscle...also, this Gambit is THE Gambit and we need more of him...his power is not just throwing cards, he is able to charge anything with kinetic power that depending on how much he charges will explode with varying degrees of explosions...he often uses his staff because his cards are limited even though he can technically charge any rock, shirt, car or whatever whenever he wants...

@@ThePrinceofHisOwnKingdom better than late DC though, you know that Joker fuchi duchi. Was a scam from the very beginning, it's like director is wipping poop at fans mouths.
I also just noticed, it feels like Jackman got the crouched claws out move a LOT better than in origins where it just looked weird as hell.
The reason Gambit works is due to his metanarrative. Tatum has been championing and wanting to play this character for over a decade. He steals the scenes because the ACTOR's long journey finally has a payoff in a few scenes in a movie - and since he doesn't know if he will ever get another chance, he gives it his all. Tatum steals the scenes, not because he's shallow, but because he is passionate.
Dude I love the beginning with Hollywood undead ❤
The entire audience in the theater I was in laughed almost non-stop. I was one of those people with lungs in pain by the end.
Meanwhile Joker 2: Arthur does not want to be the Joker anymore, Harley Quinn is the manipulator and Arthur is not the Joker as he gets shanked in the end by a Heath Ledger wannabe, gets the critics and audience together in hating, gets a D in Cinemascore (Worse than Madame Web) and performs worse than Morbius
Probably intentional. Who wanted a sequel to joker anyways?
He does not want to be the Joker... he wants to be the Jonkler
@cenorib He wanted a son, and he got it by getting what he deserved.

Its jsut dandling keys over the screen and not even good dandling keys.
@@spinosaurusstriker everyone's entitled to have wrong opinions.
You forgot to mention, the post-credits scene/montage was a love letter for the fans ☺
I'd love to see more of gambit, maybe not in his own solo movie but as a secondary character he is amazing
Oh, I get the feeling that we're definitely gonna be seeing more him down the road.
The movies don’t delve into it much but that’s what he is
Nicepool didn't have healing, and that's why he was so pretty. He didn't get the super cancer regeneration so it's no surprise he's such a nice guy.
I'll never say this movie was perfect. But it's highs are SO high compared to it's lows that it doesn't even matter.
Exactly, its a bad movie that has so many good parts that you dont even care 😂
@@senate2674 I definitely wouldn't say it's a bad movie overall.
@@kin4386 writing wise it is bad, but its one of my fav movies
@@senate2674 Half agree. The writing for basically everything in the movie EXCEPT Wade and Logan's story are bad, because most of it is very half assed.
The Car Scene Where Wolverine Tears Into Deadpool Is Some Of The Best Acting From Hugh And You Can Tell Even The Merc With A Mouth Got Hurt By That
What I like about this movie is that despite it being comedic in nature, is how serious it can get it times and how strong the characterization was and surprisingly good the story was. The comedy is more of a lubricant for everything going on to make everything digestible by making the absurd proceedings that occur more believable. All the while not being to distracting.
I can’t believe that title is real 💀
Deadpool: the class clown who comes home depressed and alone
Logan: the adored student who is depressed from constant pressure and expectations

GAMBIT IS ONE OF THE COOLEST MUTANT FROM THE CARTOONS.
That Hollywood Undead song would’ve fit so well in the “unaliving” montage in Deadpool 2, the “super duper cut”.
I see what you did there with the 2 narrators on this one. Great video Wolvermento
That Hollywood undead montage moment f***ed HARD!
I laughed SO hard when they cut to deadpool wrapped up in the seatbelt 😂😂

This is still playing in my local cinema...... think Im gonna go see it again tonight. Seen it twice already when it first came out.
You know what, this combination of filmento and movimento is starting to grow on me.
Great episode
I like your banter with Moviemento.
It reminds me of the gripes you have with the Sonic movies for succeeding where all your favorite Video games that are turned into movies fails.
I didn't go to the cinema for any Marvel movie. Last superhero movie I went to was X-Men Apocalypse (fail). But they got me with this one, well played.
Hey Filmento, it's nice to see you back! I sincerely hope your health continues to improve, so please take care of yourself!
Love seeing the bromance of Filmento and Moviemento reflecting that of Deadpool and Wolverine 💙❤️
I think the characters extremes help create interesting dynamics between characters or at least breed conflict for it to be entertaining. I have read some books that the characters aren't distinct enough in their actions to have good dynamics
I'm so sick and tired of people thinking that Gambit is french. He's Cajun. He's from New Orleans. He is not French.
I mean, technically speaking, they’re descended from French colonists, Orléans is a city in France.
About Gambit... I loved him in the X-Men cartoons as a kid and really missed him (and the cool Rogue) in the live action movies. So for the kid in me it was awesome to finally see him onscreen.
I haven't watched any of your videos in a while so watching this video after all this time felt like a comeback situation. Really enjoyed the video, keep up the good work.
I love the dynamic between Filemento and Moviemento. Of course I miss him doing full videos with his voice, but him leading Moviemento is really funny. Get well soon Filmento
You are right... we need @VancityReynolds to do an Aviation gin ad with Pumped up kicks music background.
the best example of all time of the "superficial colorful characters" is Die Hard. the terrorist who sneaks a candy bar, the salesman high on coke all the time, the sarcastic computer nerd... brilliant.
See, Marvel, it doesn’t hurt to give fans what they want: a movie that kicks ass both literally and figuratively, not a soapbox lecture
I'm so glad to hear your take on this film!
Filmentoooo so good to see you back buddy! Great Video! 👏🎬
Yo Moviemento, your narration has gotten a lot better than the one time you were on here that everyone hated.
I forgot this movie was reusing existing characters, I mean, Deadpool’s been referencing DC and Marvel before officially joining the MCU

14:27 ☠️ that’s….. that’s…. That’s not Gambits power. Yes he can throw cards but and wield a bō staff, but his power is accelerates the kinetic energy of objects. He chooses his weapons to carefully.

Why does Deadpool in the thumbnail look like that 😭
I commented in another video about D&W, and some of these points. Thx for making this!
Ryan managed to get my mom to like a super hero movie to the point where she wants to watch it again. I'd say that's quite the accomplishment.
also its nice to see a villain who is literally dangerous and can kill the hero compared to the villain's in recent dc marvel movie.
The fact that Deadpool has been embraced by comic fans and media more, is what The Rock tried to do with Black Adam but failed.
Well unlike the Rock, Deadpool loses fights all the time, what an insane contract provision.

AVI ARAD ruined a lot of Marvel movies in the early 2000s
Mainly...
* Daredevil (2003)
* The Punisher (2004)
* Elektra (2005)
* Fantastic Four (2005)
* X-Men: The Last Stand
* Spider-Man 3
And now he's gonna ruin...
* Kraven the Hunter
* Venom: The Last Dance
* Legend of Zelda
* Naruto
As long Arad lives, there's no hope
even if he's alive he's damage cause some blessings at the end, sure he may be did some things like that but if the corporate care for fans they will not want to messed things up, also i don't like avi arad but his work create some bridge to a more unexpected collab like this we wouldn't know if even without him marvel would be like this.

I love how Filmento casually jumps in with comments every few minutes, reminds me of Kim Kitsuragi from Disco Elysium, sounds like him too lol
This is simply one of the best channels. Period. 😁
I enjoy imagining Filmento delivering the script
Darn it Filmento don’t think you can just play sick indefinitely and leave us with moviemento and think we won’t notice.
14:52 FINALLY FILMENTO DOING THE 07 TRANFORMERS FILM!!!!!
YYYEESSSSS!!!!!
Great vid mento bros
I've waited all my life for this video
Moviemento>>>>>>Filmento😂😂😂
Intro was better than deadpool 1, cant change my mind.
The movie is so good it made filmento act like a dork and create his own contrast characters for a script.
Leaving a thumbs up in hopes of seeing a review of Transformers 1. That movie was so on point!
I just loved that "why is thor crying" running gag
Could you imagine seeing a five foot six inch tall Wolvie in all these movies? It's shocking to think that's his height in the comics but Wolvie really is a short block of muscle...also, this Gambit is THE Gambit and we need more of him...his power is not just throwing cards, he is able to charge anything with kinetic power that depending on how much he charges will explode with varying degrees of explosions...he often uses his staff because his cards are limited even though he can technically charge any rock, shirt, car or whatever whenever he wants...
3:14 what a callback
Yes… YESSSSS. I was waiting for this!
