Hellena Taylor's story simply will not end, as she's gone from hero to villain so quickly we've barely had time to breathe. In what SHOULD be the last video on the Bayonetta 3 saga, let's see how Taylor definitively tanked all her sympathy.
Spoiler: being an anti-abortion TERF didn't help her case!

"I stand on the side of the angels" says the voice actor for Bayonetta, a character who famously gets along just swimmingly with angels
EX-Voice Actor, thank you very much
And Thank God for that... And James Stephanie Sterling
Ok... 1st off, Taylor is a terf, a reactionary and a general twat. I don't defend her in the slightest.
But 2nd, and mainly,... WTF is this comment saying? Even as a joke it makes no sense. Bayonetta is a fictional character, as are as many believe angels. So Bayonetta being a mass angel-murderer has nothing to do with whether her human VA believes in them or uses them in a very old saying.
What I'm trying to say is that that comment makes no sense in any context, social media is actively ruining our species' ability to think, and I don't like it here anymore.
Trans rights.
@rod Usually it's NOT religion itself, but the FILTHY HERETICS to JUSTIFY their Hatred & Heresy by Simultaneously Ignoring & Cherry Picking parts of Holy Scriptures to Justify their Evil & Vile Campaigns.
With "Rules for Thee, but NOT for Me" types.
@rod Im just happy to see someone not dunk on religion as a whole. I mean, look, I'm no zealot, I recognize the sins that have come not only inherently from certain religions (mostly cults like Jehovah's Witnesses), but from people abusing religions and warping them for their own self interests.
However, it gets pretty sad and lonely to see the rampant extremism running around, on TOP of more and more people leaving religion behind, because it makes me feel like an idiot for bothering. Religion isnt all bad, it never was, but I would much rather know for certain that not every progressive thinker just so happens to be an atheist, ya know? Vice versa, I dont want every big religious figure or person who happens to be theistic to be a bigot. There's nothing wrong with being an atheist, but I'd rather not see confirmation after confirmation of dumb stereotypes that dictate that somehow being theistic makes you inherently non-progressive. It obviously doesnt, but still.
Actually, they're quite good on toast.
We were denied Fuckkonami news thanks to Helena Taylor. Now she's gone too far.

“I believe in gentle female power, not sabre rattling. I stand with anyone on The Side of The Angels.”
Ah yes, Bayonetta. A character famous for portraying gentle female power and who always stands on the side of angels…
That quote sounds like something bayonetta would say as a joke. While wearing a sexy nun outfit
It's something she would say while literally standing on an angel's side and in the middle of stomping them.
Not to mention how peaceful angels themselves are known to have been in that book they're from. But I mean, how do you expect the messengers of a psychotic war god to behave? Uncompromising, intimidating, demanding... occasionally quite murdery. But it's okay you see because all those people they hurt are /evil/ because they didn't do the things it says in the book!
10/10 would religion again
I understand that the plot of Bayonetta isn't meant for mortal minds to comprehend but aren't angels the antagonists?
the fact that you think the bible always protrays god and the amgels in the same way shows how little you know about it.
it's a collection of dozens of different books with very different attitudes, some of them even just outright contradict each other
You know the most hilarious part about any of this?
The whole negotiation of payment which caused all of this had to be done over a year ago.
So Hellena was waiting for over a year seething with rage to take revenge and it blew up in her face in less than 3 weeks.
"It's so easy to be evil, Clarice. So easy. Most people stumble into it entirely on accident. So in my mind, the far uglier thing is to not do it well."
-Hannibal Lecter
That's funny XDD
I could be wrong but I still feel this was an agent / bad advice thing. It's so stupid.
The timing of her rant also matches up with Platinum giving the polite version of them not coming to terms and not making it work. The way they did it made it sound like more of a scheduling thing, which her rant jumped on and made it somewhat credible at the face of it. I don't think it really was planned, and I do believe she lost her mind when she heard Platinum's response and said fuck it. I haven't worked as a VA in years, screw this NDA.
Anyone that follows this business and in particular Bayonetta knew from the get go that the money she was talking was way off base (Bayonetta revenue).

Honestly, Taylor could’ve learnt something from the hazbin hotel actors when the show was Green light for television they had to re-cast the show with union voice actors, obviously the fans were PO but the actors understood. That’s just show business.

The irony is she succeeded in bringing everyone together like her 'trans rights' reply spoke about, it's just that everyone is united against her. 😅
At this rate, I'd almost suspect she's been paid a sizable sum in order to murder her career and give Bayonetta 3 more press while rendering discussion about fair VA payment moot by association. Hyperbole ofc, but this has really been a gift package to Plat games and Nintendo, probably boosting sales and quite cleverly turning conversation from "she's right about VA compensation" to "she's literally the worst".
A bold strategy, Cotton. Let's see how it pays out.
She really took a stance against anger and division by uniting everyone in their anger towards her.
It always cracks me up when the right-wing complains about others causing division, when their own party is focused on subtracting the undesirables. They pretty much say: why can’t you just calm down, lie down and let yourselves be steamrolled without complaining?
@King of The Zinger why, the bayo series is probably one of the top dogs of action genre games have to offer. its gameplay its sublime, its only rivaled by DMC.

@@fcf8269 If you don't hate a lying transphobic bigot then you're not really a decent person.
@King of The Zinger so no reason just spite, that is some really dumb shit if I ever heard it.
In my Aussie city this week there was a hate group had planned a huge anti-trans protest march. A whole 12 middle-aged women showed up with their nasty little signs, and they were severely outnumbered by the LGBTQ+ community and our allies who got a massive counter-protest organised in less than 6 hours.
I was very proud of my city.
Nice 🙂
That's very excellent
As a fellow Aussie, I missed the news of it, but I'm really happy to hear of a counter protest.
So much anti trans rhetoric has been going on in the medical scene over here it's scary.
That's officially the only nice thing I've heard happen in Australia, bless
Because a lot of people don't hate trans people. Sounds like their protest was petty and a waste of time. Hell, we don't even like climate change activists but at least they have a point, just going about it in the completely wrong way.
Hopefully due to the counter-protest, they stay down. We got floods to worry about.
The way people are trying to take away human rights is scarier then a horror movie marathon on Halloween.
terrifying, in fact.
Well think about it. The chaos that progressives wrought is going to swing back to them at full force eventually. It's called karma.
And the way so many other people seem _okay_ with it happening. The number of mostly braindead monkeys out there, just coasting through life without a care for anyone else, is highly alarming.
say that to people aborting 9 months old babies, not to voluntary eunuchs
@@killerking2346 Nobody is aborting 9 months old babies, holy crap. Where do you guys always pick up this kind of bullshit? In pretty much all western countries an abortion this late is only possible if the mother otherwise dies. Which happens, but is certainly not common - and, as a medical emergency, has absolutely nothing to do with general pro-abortion stances. I also recommend looking up statistics when abortions typically occur. It's primarily the first trimester, even in the US with it's batshit crazy health system and often lacking/absent sex-ed.

It’s entirely wild how the Bayonetta 3 voice actor debacle has changed so much since its inception that Jim-Steph has now made three separate videos on it lol. While I admittedly fully believed Hellena’s words and feel a bit guilty for jumping the gun, when VAs have been screwed by greedy corporations many times just this year alone (the English VAs for Jujutsu Kaisen 0 being paid peanuts despite it setting box office record and the English VA for Mob, Kyle McCarley, having to step away from the role just because Crunchyroll couldn’t be arsed to have a conversation with his union being two prime examples), it’s a no-brainer that the internet would choose to side with her. When in fact not only did she lie by omission, but basically manipulated people to try and hamper the game’s success right before launch just because she was bitter about being replaced for a role that was no longer hers. And the fact that she outright *admitted* she lied after doubling down instead of just stepping away from the situation and saying nothing like a smart person would will never cease to amaze me.
So tl;dr, Hellena sucks and I entirely hope this situation doesn’t muddy the waters for VAs speaking about unjust treatment in the future. And while I was planning on Bayonetta 3 anyways, now I can do so without feeling icky *and* to spite Hellena.

I just finished replaying Dragon Age: Inquisition, where, appropriately enough for today's subject, Jennifer Hale plays a trans character.
I remember reading at the time of its release that the developers at Bioware took great care in writing such a character, and that they chose one of the best voice actors they knew, one who had voiced the lead character in their other sprawling game franchise, to play this character, and lend some measure of weight and importance to the role itself.
Sure, in retrospect the role could have been given to a trans actor, but for what it's worth, Jennifer Hale helped make Krem Aclassi into a fully realized man who players grew to know and love. Hale played the role with sensitivity, pathos, heart and quite a bit of humor.
I guess I just wanted to point out that Jennifer Hale is in many respects the Anti-Hellena Taylor. Fuck transphobes, thank god for trans people, and thank god for James Stephanie Sterling.
Re:Krem, it's also worth noting that trans people in the fandom at the time were pretty split on Jen Hale's casting, too. While I fully understand people who disliked it, I (an AFAB trans person) and few of my trans masc friends ranged from thinking it was just fine to actively approving, because Hale's performance sounded *like them*. I think optically it would be best going forward to cast trans people (or cis actors who share the character's gender) as trans characters, casting someone of Hale's caliber for a genuine, non-jokey portrayal of a trans character is, if not actively a good thing, then I think not a bad thing inherently or even in context of Krem.

However, this was a good opportunity for people to learn just what VAs are paid under SAG rules compared to SAG screen actors...and almost no one covered it. Not Stirling, not any of the numerous channels I watch except for one, a lawyer channel.
Which, by the way, isn't much if any less. People compare top VAs to top screen actors, but that's not the comparison to make. You compare "working" VAs to "working" actors and the VAs get almost equal pay for FAR less-difficult work.

This is like an anime arc. Taylor comes out as a hero at first. But then the truth comes out and it turns out she was the villian at the end.
Please recommend me some actual anime like that, I'm sick of Blandy McIsekai who is eternally the goodest of good boys for basically no reason

Onto other isekai MCs
Drifters - the main group are pragmatic and not above setting violent examples. They are not good persay, but happen to have some values that happen to align themselves towards that.
Re:Zero - Subaru may be good, but he has a lot of faults and suffers from his own vanity and selfishness a lot.
Mushoku Tensei - Ehh... definitely not a perfect MC but you may not like why he isn't a perfect MC.
Gate - Itami is a bit more by the books rather than a wide-eyed idealist but does err more on the "good" side.
Slime - Rimuru while good natured, is not above butchering his enemies.
Konosuba - comedy example.
Grimgar - probably one of the most "realistic" examples of an isekai. Please note the quotation marks.
@@TheRoboKitty Rising of the Shield Hero basically has an arc that's entirely this, MC is betrayed by and accused of r*pe by someone he thought was his friend, with high government standing, ostracized by everyone around him aside from his closest friends, and basically reaches a point of "Screw these people, they don't deserve to be saved if all it takes is hearsay to turn them on me." I have to say I didn't watch the anime. But the manga is quite good.
@@lightninstriker10 Shield Hero isn't a villain though, he's a deconstructive anti-hero. Very big distinction.
Deconstruction = genre convention has consequences not typical of the genre. Anti-hero = character with heroic goals but lacking heroic qualities, in Shieldbro's case he has severe depression, spiteful attitude, and enough desperation to buy slaves. Neither of these words are villain traits in and of themselves
When that Konami dump comes, it's going to be so, so satisfying.
The anticipation that has been building since the SIlent Hill transmission for James Stephanie's response has been exquisite.
In other voice actor news: the campaign to bully Crunchyroll into having a meeting with SAG-AFTRA - the American actors' union - hasn't let up. Everything they post has comment after comment asking for #JustAMeeting. This has been going on since September. Several content creators that previously supported them are quiet or actively disavowed them. It isn't all bad.
Aren't they still owned by Funimation though, and through them Sony? I doubt Crunchyroll is the source of the problem, they are just the ones not keeping it contained.

"Too much division", a phrase that here means "stop resisting while we outlaw you again".
this is one of the weirdest stories in a long time imo. I don't understand the VO's endgame at all, she has to realize that once people looked into her, the shit would get exposed immediately and she'd ruin all the sympathy she garnered from the original lie
her Endgame was that Bayo 3's sales would tank so she would get a foothold on negotiating even bigger contracts, which shows how much of a Twat she already was BEFORE the whole being a Hellena Taylor came up

Terminally online people. This isn't something new, people always butted their noses into others' businesses and made it a hill to die on. It's just that before it was nosey nancy's on the neighborhood watch. Now that anyone can obtain a phone and download social media like Twitter, they can be more vocal and visible. Hive minds and echo chambers can form more easily and in greater numbers. Anonymity can let people say whatever they want that they wouldn't normally in person with zero repercussions. They don't see another person on the other end of the screen, they just see a name and an image. Which is why they'd never actually repeat the stuff they say online to people in person, they'd be reminded of the fact that they're talking to actual human beings. They live boring and unhappy lives so they have to butt into others to feel something.
