      But of course a 50 inch vert dont need a incresed your vert programa he exactly nows how to do it.
      But even for a beginnir, he needs like a moth or 2 moth to get true results

    Great video J! I see so many athletes who want to jump higher, but only train muscles instead of training the specific movements which are involved in jumping. Specificity is key!

    I honestly just stretched my body and added miniature versions of the methods you see on UA-cam to my daily workouts and over time my vert got better and I didn’t even notice. It really just takes time. But don’t go jumping around before tryouts and break both of your wrist from landing hard on the ground...(me)

    Would love to see a video on plyometric progressions. When do I increase the intensity and at what set and rep counts? Also, when and how much do I up my lift weights? These have really been on my mind since trying my hand at very training recently. I am older now, 31, and would like to do it the right way.

    Hey Jonathan, nice vid, could you make a tutorial on actual dunk technique please ?, like showing us how to hold the ball going up ,how to stop it falling out of the hand ,how to stop back rimming attempts etc nothing to do with jumping just how to actually put it through the rim. Right now I can only dunk by palming a ball, not sure how to dunk without palming.

    2:36, just to make sure of this, are you suggesting when we have our "off days" for vertical jumping, such as being exhausted, or having our CNS worn down, we should be still jumping then? Because I remember you saying way back that if you feel exhausted, then you shouldn't force yourself to jump because you will only get better when you are putting maximal effort into your vertical training.

    • @jclarkthejumper
      @jclarkthejumper 6 років тому +75

      NadeMEGeneration great question! No you shouldn’t being doing max effort training when CNS is low, but that doesn’t mean you don’t train at all. I will be making a video to elaborate on this topic 👍🏾

I use to be able to dunk(6yrs ago) but due to constant knee pain(Jumpers Knee/Patella Tendinitis) from trying to dunk all the time I finally stopped jumping overall. I am looking to get back into just being able to dunk or be explosive again but I was wondering if you had any recommendation on workouts/rehabs so that I can avoid jumpers knee from happening again if I start using your programs. Thank you!.

      Try to do it on the trampoline( I mean penultimate step) for few times and than in front of the basket you will see results ( I did)

    • @facetheface6171

      Start about as far as you want your penultimate step to be them just do the penultimate step before the jump. And then start dunking on easy heights thinking get a good jump in your penultimate, get that leg split, push off from here and eventually it'll become habit

However, my footwork on my two footed jump is inverted (I first step with right, then my left). I have a question. I'm 14 and 5'5 and my current vert is around 24 inches without all that much training. I want to play spiker in volleyball, but with what I have rn I most likely won't be able to. I also wouldn't call myself all that athletic. So, if anyone here can tell me by how much id be able to increase my vertical through training, that would be great, because it does put me down sometimes seeing all those giants, while I look for a way to catch up to them... If anyone can help it would be great. 😅😅

    I can already jump decently high at least 32 inches even though I do not concentrate on my vertical. However I notice that when I jump playing basketball a ton my knees tend to feel like they are breaking down even sometimes like they are scraping together. Do you have a video or know anyway for me to respond to this problem.

      TRC that's something to check with your doctor man. Don't play around with that stuff til you know what it is, just cause it could be due to damaged or torn cartilage.
      I don't know the pain you're experiencing, but just play it safe in case. You're probably fine but just based on what you're saying I highly recommend you see a specialist.

    Hi J Clark, I'm 31 years old, 6 foot and I barely touch the rim with my wrist (off one foot jump) palm the rim (off two feet). Unfortunately I still miss (clean) dunking. In the past 3 months I started workin out and I add 2 inches to my vert (I did some gym workout like squat, deadlift and so..). Do u think that with some good plyo workout I can add more inches (like 5-6 inches) and dunk easily (even if I'm 31 old)?

    I lost my vertical for being inconsistent, in the 7th grade (5’9 145 lb at the time)I could touch rim, then in the middle of 8th grade I could hang on rim, by ninth grade I could dunk off one foot and two foot, and hang on rim effortlessly. But then, during the end of ninth grade I got hurt in my shoulder, and i had to sit out for a month after season. I regret that month so much, that whole month I played video games and ate junk food , by the time my injury healed I went from 170 with muscle to 185 of fat ( I’m 5’9). Then beginning of Aau season I was straight fundamentally cus that was natural, but I was fucked up physically which affected me mentally. I could not play a whole game, cus I was tired and I rarely touched rim. Now I’m in the tenth grade playing Jv (5’10 190lbs). My question is should I lose weight to get my vertical back or just stay the weight to thin out the body when I grow to be able to get vertical back dad is 6’3 and grandad 6”4, I really want my hops back but I can’t get the weight problem fixed
