That's because you're using phantom to peek. Change your playstyle when you're using phantom. Stop using it to peek long angles and whine about 140 or 124. Plus, peeking everything only exist in low rank, so technically in higher rank you'd want to use phantom because you fight close range fights rather than long range fights.

Both gun have their strength. If you peaking a long distance, you want a Vandal in your hand. If you want to spam bullets in the smoke, you want a Phantom. Vandal will give away your position.
Vandal has bigger rng than the phantom so it really depends what you mean by "long distance", and how much time is left in a round, and how much health enemy may have, plus other situations such as crossfires make the Phantom more reliable in teamworking situations. For such reasons it makes the vandal better for solo queue, especially on certain maps. Taking those early-round fair duels and winning is still much more likely with a vandal than phantom. It's a meme but 140 dinks are actually pretty big of an issue. Whenever I use phantom it's always 140 and then a teammate has to trade me before the enemy gets healed. With vandal on the other hand it simply does not happen. Sure, I'll miss a headshot here or there due to rng but the difference is negligible and the overwhelmingly prevalent issue is always the mechanics, which can compensate for the vandal's rng. With the vandal, it's like 99% a skill issue if you die. With the phantom, you have to factor in the distance - how many times you're gonna have to hit the enemy with a second bullet, or even a third. Making it a skill issue much less often. If you've got the aim and you do solo queue, vandal is GENERALLY the better choice. With many exceptions though. Playing Controller for instance, especially on Defence, generally makes the Phantom better.

In fact, the main reason good players pick vandal is because the one-tap factor makes good aim infinitely more rewarding. As I said in my previous comment, phantom excels in MANY specific situations, but as a general gun, vandal is just better. They're almost perfectly balanced though, which is why playing only one doesn't make much sense though. Buy whichever will be most likely to be suitable for what you expect will happen in the upcoming round.

I use both depending on the character I'm using. I mostly use Omen and Kay-o. If I use Omen, I use phantom so I don't give away my position when flanking or teleporting and you cant see where phantom shots are coming from while near sighted. With Kay-o I use a vandal because you can't see bullet tracers while flashed and they're probably gonna know where I am anyway due to my utility giving away my positioning.
Vandal-One taps,Wall Bangs and for Long range maps Phantom- Spraying on the Smoke, No tracer bullets and Good for spray Transfer. Both are good in different ways!🥰

What he means about valorant being random is the first shot accuracy deviation meaning your bullets can actually at random deviate from your crosshairs. If you’ve ever swear you’ve been on someone’s head and didn’t kill them it’s probably cause of that. The phantom has a smaller first shot accuracy deviation meaning all the shots are closer to the crosshair than the vandal
I also love using the phantom, to me it feels more stable and ive gotten headshots through smokes but when I first started playing, my bf would tell me to buy vandal instead
The main argument of Vandal mains is the 140 and shit. In a clutch situation, where the 140 is criticized a lot, an enemy is not full health ( full healths and 50 shields ) most of the time. Even if they are , you can just continue on with a spray and even one bullet connects, thats a kill .
the only time where 140 is an issue is if you peak mid the moment barrier goes down and one taps someone which never happens in pro play, thats why phantom is usually more liked in pro play.
It's very situational and you have to be able to predict the type of fights you'll be taking, where you attack, from where you attack and what agent you play, I'd still choose vandal because phantom's spray just doesn't reset
Two important reasons you should pick phantom: Doesn't give away your exist position when shooting through utility, which is important in higher elos when there's almost always smokes to play around. Even if you hit 149, the higher fire rate makes up for it.
For me, my peak rating being Immortal 2, I think the Vandal is my choice when my aim is really hot and I’m just cranking one taps, but if ever find myself crouch spraying with vandal during a match I switch to Phantom and typically do well.
Realistically most of the time the 140 doesn't matter as typically you'll have chipped some damage off with util nowadays. With raze, kayo, and other agents that have utili damage doing that initial 10 or 25 for you

The lack of spray patterns on the game makes me choose the vandal. At least I know if I tap I can reliable get a headshot.
