In Hong Kong director Wong Kar Wai’s acclaimed 2000 movie In the Mood for Love, the 23 cheongsams worn by leading actress Maggie Cheung did much to re-popularize the classic Chinese dress, among both domestic and foreign audiences. Few people, however, know about the master tailor who crafted them for her. Now in his eighties, Leung Long Kong is still working in the city after a lifetime in his trade. In this episode, he takes us through the process of making a cheongsam. To explore its enduring popularity, we also look into the history of the iconic garment.

Fantastic Documentary!
I love this documentary, so many of the details/style/preference/attitude reminds me of my grandma who wore cheongsam. I went back wither my grandma visiting these masters, I wasn't into the style back then. This backstory really opened my eyes to what my grandma referenced. Would love to see a followup on part 2.
Master (Si Fu)!!!
