This ending was horrible! Speaking as a writer myself, it was lazy BEYOND BELIEF. Periodt. First of all, trying to prevent deaths in war is literally impossible. Timestone or not, they're still in an ongoing battle. (Butterfly effect anyone?) Not only that, but the deaths would have left a greater impact (take Your Lie In April for example- even though the ending made so many people cry, they didn't hate it; it packed a powerful punch! THAT was well done!). Secondly, is that stone not capable of simply taking Jim back to a specific point in time? It's clear he can control it... hell, he even (nearly) DESTROYED it once! The writers could have just taken him back to the start of the movie, then showed a montage of the time going forward, (made the fight more interesting), or simply just left it up to the auidence. (Hence the 'lazy' on their part). Lastly, we're shown what would have happened in the series if Jim didn't find the amulet. In this situation (the movie), It's basically 'first come first serve'. Because we all know that the amulet believes Jim to be a hero- that's why it chose him. I'm choosing to believe that either that the amulet asked Toby to bring it to Jim, or when Jim got close enough to it again, it split in two, creating two trollhunters (due to the OG & MUCH better timeline). Or (as we've seen at the start of movie), since Binky is seen reading the adventure to us, everyone regains their memories.
Remember what Jim said in the beginning he was just lucky to find the amulet first, that just say that Jim was right it’s not like the person who is not the troll hunter tells the person to just take it to the real troll hunter it just choose the first one who found it. And Jim is not dead so why would it not still choose him.
But remember, Unbecoming Merlin: Now your getting it, my amulet doesn’t make mistakes, “says a bunch of chaotic stuff”, and of all creatures in the world I chose you, Now show them why -> Jim Lake Jr.
Things will probably play out differently in this timeline because of this decision. And some of those changes may suck and they make the same mistakes again, but at the same time, Jim now knows what to do and what not to do. Who knows? Maybe a way to make everyone remember the original timeline exists. All in all, it won't be perfect, but it'll be a long sight better then the way it was before Jim went back in time

legit the time travel ending imho was completely frickin stupid and irrelevant, they couldve ended it with the world saved, people lost and everyone growing up a bit more because of the loss. Idk the lesson couldve been nothing stays forever or some bs but it still wouldve made a damn better ending than "what if?" but thats just my opinion. cant wait for what the writers are gonna do for stubby trollhunter, my imaginations says jim's gonna be some hero in the dark helping tobias whenever he needs to.
I miss him too, but like almost every other awesome series they may need to sometimes replace the lead actors, and tbh I like Emile Hirsch as Jim, it's good to see him still in the acting bizz, since the last time I saw him as Speed Racer and I'll be honest I still love that movie

I know lots of people didn’t like the ending. The whole back in time thing angered some. Some people said it was like they took the concept from the 2 final episode of Trollhunters season 2 where Merlín as Unkar shows Jim what would happen if he didn’t find the amulet, and some say that this is lazy writing and that they didn’t have to do it. Frankly, they’re right that it didn’t HAVE to be done, but that doesn’t make it bad. I personal thought it was a decent ending, and I kind of like the concept of Tobey finding the amulet. It’s either him, or Claire or Draal. Tobey is really the only other person, after Jim, worthy to wield the amulet.
@@blaizecontee7093 well it did choose Jim, but Jim chose to ignore it. So I guess it went to the only other person who could qualify. Because Toby is Jim’s best friend, so any traits that Jim had may have slightly rubbed off on Toby.

I really like the tales of Arcadia movies but I didn't like the ending of trollhunter Rise of the Titans its just so sad 😭😢
