The same bomb joke: Believe me, if all those endearing young charms

- Warner brothers used the same joke in these shorts: a bomb explotion while playing "Believe me, if all those endearing young charms"... which one you prefer???
I read this joke was also used in a Slappy Squirrel short but was impossible to get!!!
The note is C4. THE NOTE THAT CAUSES THE EXPLOSION IS C4.
...
..
.
I don't even.
Oh my fucking god.
How did I not realize this
Ooooooooh shiiiiieeeet
Oh my god, that is perfect!
I think my fave is the second one with Yosemite Sam! It has a very clever way of explaining musically why his scheme didn't work.
The music is correct - that higher double note is C. And Bugs is playing the correct physical keys. However, the piano appears to be out of tune from the B key upwards.
Yosemite set the trap to the actual correct note by sound, but without fixing the tuning of the piano.
If the piano was correctly tuned before the trap was laid, Bugs would have blown up!
I love the whole set up between Bugs and Sam. Watching Sam build the bomb inside the piano, lugging it up the stairs and then being so exasperated when Bugs doesn't blow up.
Don't you mean the Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote one?
You're overthinking it. These cartoons never bother with representing the piano accurately. When Bugs hits the C key, on his first attempt it plays a C#. On his second attempt, however, the same C-key plays a D#. The piano isn't out of tune, he is simply playing it wrong. The fact the correct note is a C and he happens to strike the C-key (playing the wrong tone), is just coincidence.
@@itskarl7575 Who's overthinking it? LOL
@@mikehunt2625 Not sure what point you think you're making. I presented a much simpler explanation.
Yosemite Sam: There's your pie-ano, Rabbit. Now, let's see ya play it!
Bugs: *proceeds to play it wrong twice*
@@Jedi-ge6lr NO! THAT’S NOT IT! TRY IT AGAIN!
@@BgChf-dg5lv Bugs: *plays it wrong again*
@@Jedi-ge6lr OOH YA STUPID RABBIT! LIKE THIS! “Those Endearing Young Charm- BOOOOOM!!!!
@@BgChf-dg5lv Who's stupid now, Sam?
Question: How did this joke originally begin? Did everyone use to miss that one note or something?
LooneyNerd pretty sure it was for the joke itself. Rig the instrument to a song and the protagonist would always stupidly hit the wrong key, either deliberate or not.
It didn't necessarily need to be this song. It just was. And the rest is history.
Also. Pardon response to a two year old inquiry. I couldn't help myself.
The wise fool
oh no! an oxymoron!
also there is an explosive named 'C4'. and the note c4 is very common in music.
Also, this song works with this joke very well because of the jump between the second to last note, and the last note.
Bugs plays the wrong notes, and Sam and Daffy immediately forget that they're trying to get Bugs to blow himself up not trying to teach Bugs to play a song.
So, the guy in the first one was reincarnated as Bugs Bunny? Sure SOUNDS like Bugs. :)
Funny enough, in the first one it felt like the guy really couldn't play that note but in all the others it felt more like Bugs and the Road Runner knew about the trap and playing dumb just to get the bad guys to blow themselves up.
It's either going to be Sam or Daffy - their frustration and taking over to play it right fits perfectly with their personalities.
I was expecting the roadrunner to play it right, but super fast and then zip away before it blows up. Missed opportunity there.
This never gets old 😂
Wile e Coyote: OH!!! You stupid Road Runner! Like this! 4:02
LOL These old Looney Tunes are absolutely timeless.

didn't they also use that joke in animaniacs
Yes
People used the last note 🎶 to die for does endearing young charms 💥
Is too die for those endearing young charms 💥
still gets me to laugh even to this day XD
That gag was also attempted in a Slappy Squirrel cartoon in “Animaniacs,” but she hits the right notes and the dog, who set the trap up for Slappy, is blown up instead! “Old gag, new twist!”
Probably my favorite execution of the joke.
Just found the video on UA-cam. Thanks!

The thing that makes me sad about the new animaniacs series is that they come up lacking in legacy jokes like that...
@@Natsumithegreat ehhhhhhhh imo I don't think it's much of a bad of I'm being honest
@@Natsumithegreat Honestly, my issue is that it's gotten a lot more political. And yes, I understand that The Animaniacs has always been political, but what it wasn't always was alienating.
Political tensions are probably at the worst they've ever been right now, and if they're going to send political messages, they can't just be leftists talking to other leftists.
Case in point, their episode on gun control. Oh, sorry. I mean BUN Control. 🤣
I always found it funny how fast Daffy and Sam played due to their frustration
I particularly like to think that in both situations Bugs was fully aware of the trap and played dumb on purpose so to make Sam and Daffy lose their composures and fall head-on into their own traps.
@@viniciusvalois2634 That’s definitely accurate

3:38 I totally expecting Road Runner to press the notes by its beak, it raised up a finger from its wing..
Honestly, either that actually happened once and this video missed an instance, or I'm remembering something wrong
So was I!
@@TheHomieLew I’ve seen him do it with his beak. Maybe it was a different tune
Same. Not to mention that a lot of times Wile E Coyote would set a trap for RR and the RR would take the bait but the trap would fail to go off. Then a puzzled WEC would try to spring the trap himself and immediately suffer the consequences.
I didn't know his wings could move
While all the jokes are good, I think Yosemite Sam has the best comedic timing.
having him hide behind the tree and eagerly peek out made it somehow more rewarding
I was the 421st like
I really think it's the speed in which he plays the correct notes that makes it so funny.
I'd tie it between him and Wille Coyote. I really like that the explosion happens after only one note in the latter, I think it flows better
Still makes me laugh every time. Thanks to All who created these classic cartoons
One of the rare times Wile E. Coyote got the Road Runner but pushed it away.

Not - so Wile E. Coyote!
Yup. He messed that up big time.

Too bad it’s him who will be playing the harp in the end of that short.
I'm embarrassed to admit that at first I didn't get it and said "... No?? It's still a xylophone??"
And then I grew a brain
To me, the way Daffy put it is kind of dark.
@@deffdefying4803 Luckily in this video we saw 1:23 at first.
Kinda weird a chord is played when they are using one finger lol
They’re just accentuating the “wrongness” of the note by adding the dissonance of two notes. They probably figured most people’s ears won’t notice.
A wizard did it
Could just be an out of tune piano, when a key is pressed a hammer strikes 3 strings, if they’re not tuned accordingly they can cause dissonance relative to each oher
Erbgut
But not on a xylophone
It’s not a chord if it’s only two notes. ;)
"I'll get rid of that rabbit and make it look like an accident!"
I always loved that line< "an accident." Yeah, pianos blow up all the time.

It is an ACME piano. Everything ACME makes blows up eventually.
and in the user's face, rather than the intended victim.
Sometimes with the piano keys stuck in the villain's mouth like teeth, and sometimes, a last few keys will drop and play a few notes as a punch line.

Hey, when a gag is this good why use it only once?!
The point of this video is how many times it's been used.

I love how every character has a basic understanding of sheet music, but are always blatantly off, the road runner being way way off.

Inspector Javert
Please do it and do it quick,
I would not try to play this in real life. It would be like grabbing a metal door handle while anticipating a massive shock from static buildup
You know, it's kind of weird how they did the Road Runner one. I would think the Road Runner would play it correctly and nothing happens and then leaves. Then of course the Coyote comes over, looks at the piano and plays it correctly and then it blows up.
Christina Doxstader this!
Definitely. They got lazy when they could have written a more Road Runner-like joke. My first thought was that the Road Runner would play it correctly on the third try when the camera's on the Coyote, but it blows up the rock instead of the piano.
Robert Carlson They're not lazy, you know.
durece100 I don't know, it's kind of lazy to reuse the same joke beat by beat when they had a chance to put a unique spin on it.
Agreed, as a big Road Runner fan that's what I always expected to happen in that bit. Then again, subverting audience expectations was a Looney Tunes staple.
If you're trying to play a song and get it so wrong that someone feels they have to shout at you that it's wrong and you should try it again, they're trying to kill you.
Pretty much
Or its the other way around.... The person trying to play the piano knows the instrument is boobytrapped, annoying the other party
If you play something so wrong someone has to play it for you (oftentimes faster, in frustration) and is then fucking blown up by the instrument, there's a problem
@El Burrito Especially if that song is "Those Endearing Young Charms."

+3gdosrsfs "OOOOOHHH NO NO YOU STUPID RABBIT! LIKE THIS!" (playing, hits right note) *BANG!!!!*
joyunicycle Great stuff!
+Sigma0283 The Daffy one is classic, but I love the Sam explosion best
Deion Pehowdy Sam: "NO! THAT'S NOT IT! TRY IT AGAIN!" (goes back into hiding)
Never gets old. I laughed at every explosion.
Same
The first one is the best. Having a booby trap waiting in heaven is brilliant.
Yosemite carrying the piano on his back. Still great after all these years.
Never gets old. Haha
._.
A true classic never goes out of style
HAHA............HAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!!!!!
Seems like a 7 year cycle according to the dates. Perhaps they reckoned that the same kid would not be watching the newer cartoon.
To be fair the first cartoon was only shown to war soldiers during WWII.
Y'all had this recommended too?
Yes, but only because I looked up the original song
Yes
Yep.
i searched for this
@@JustAZillennial what's the name of the original song?
Who knew that Yosemite Sam looks just like Elmer Fudd without his beard
I noticed that too. Elmer Fudd is actually a dialect master, and has wigs. And false moustaches.
Ya dern Galoot!
Elmer Fudd has a bigger head though and is taller.
@@YujiUedaFan Maybe they shot him using forced perspective.
Sam: No. that's not it try again
Daffy: No, stupid; like this (gets blown up)
Coyote nudges the roadrunner away to play it right (gets blown up)
In all honesty, the explosion was probably the least painful part of the experience for the Sam, Daffy, and the coyote.
Michael Galicki army guy:yeah, that's it, that's it !(Blows up)
And of course the Coyote, by shoving the Road Runner, implies that he could have *easily* grabbed his prey right then and there. But no....he had to prove his point. BANG! It makes the gag all that more ludicrous/funny.
Daffy Duck one the best , I literally die.
OOOH NO NO YA STUPID RABBIT! LIKE THIS
I like they his beak partly falls off.
Before Daffy sets up the explosives in the xylophone, he declares that he knows how to get rid of Bugs and make it look like an accident. Only in a Looney Tunes cartoon is an exploding xylophone an accidental event.
Sorry to hear of your passing.
Or did you mean to write: “..., I figuratively die.”?
Wait you literally died? How did you type this comment? 😮
Why you no put Slappy Squirrel in here
+GalenNight Don't pit him in here! Please!
+youtuber: Slappy's a 'she'.
Neville6000
A thousand pardons
+GalenNight Old gag, new twist. :D
+youtuber: You're welcome.
After more than fifty years, this never gets old! 😂
Yep
If this was in a CSI episode, the guy would say "That last note on that piano went off *puts on sunglasses* with a bang." Yeeeeeeaaaahhhh!
+WinVistaUser2 XD
"Sir, we found him dead with his dick in a peanut butter jar."
"Well looks like this man was...*puts on glasses* Fucking Nuts!"
"BAREEEELYYYYYYYYY!!"
WinVistaUser2 lol
😂😂😂😂😂😂
WinVistaUser2 That would be how Horatio Caine would put it. How about Mac Taylor?
Post explosion, the perpetrator/victim is standing there disheveled and his glasses are bent and sticking up over his face. He says "That last note on that piano went off..." and his sunglasses fall into place lop-sidedly over his eyes "...WITH A BANG!"
u forgot anamaniacs slappy and that dog
***** First thing I thought of
animaniacs was an attempt to slip loony toons back into the mainstream and i loved em
Not to mention he forgot South Park
Deion Pehowdy yes
MrShirye No idiot. South Park Sucked.
just realized the note is c4 , as in the explosive c4!!!
yeah, quite copying other people's comments.
I thought that was really clever, except that in the first segment, it's a D that causes the explosion.
@@vinodude1 literally just did 10min of searching to explain this but c4 was invented in 1956 and that cartoon is from 1944 so thats why

@@JD-wr7fu So I guess books are just copying each other because they use the same alphabet, then.
@@deffdefying4803 No, you dumb fuck. I would say a book is copying another book if they have the same letters in the same places as another book, otherwise known as COPYING IT WORD FOR WORD. Which is what the original commenter did to another comment. So, shut up if you have no idea what your talking about you man baby.
i used to sit and watch these for hours as a kid, because i thought they were funny, i could careless how violent they were, because i knew they were not real.
CouldN'T care less how violent they were...
@@simontay4851 Maybe he "could" care less. :-)
While all of you could care less, I didn't care at all.
