  • Yes, it seems extremely counter intuitive that something that happens AFTER you hit the ball could possibly affect your contact and over all outcome, but it DOES! In this video I am going into detail on how to structure a tour like finish and some of my favorite drills to achieve it.
Also, don't forget to leave me those swing thoughts!

‘Committing to the wrong shot is better than not committing to the right shot’….so true! Commit, commit, commit, is such a fundamental mindset to hitting great shots!

Thank you for your response, Carolyn! A quick update. I mentioned in my post last night that I was playing golf today with my usual golf buddies, and I couldn't wait to see their faces when I hit the ball 20-30 yards farther on my drives. We went to the PGA Senior Open at Harbor Shores, Michigan, and on the way played at Pipestone Golf Course in Benton Harbor, Michigan. My buddies tease me about being distance challenged. Today they literally forced me to play from the gold tees while they played from the whites. I protested but they insisted. It wasn't a huge advantage, but it is more about honor and principle. Anyway, long story short. I beat all three of them handily! I shot a 92. I've never beaten either of them before today. We had never played this course and it was very challenging. It normally would have eaten me up and probably would have shot close to 100. But the added driving distance helped tremendously. I still have to use a fairway wood on most par 4's, and don't reach the greens in regulation very often. Now my buddies are using the excuse that I had an advantage on the up tees! Geesh! It's not so much about beating my friends but being the best golfer I can be. I know in my heart I am a better golfer than I have shown in the past and can hit the ball farther. Something was missing. And it was Carolyn's video that made the difference. A couple simple moves. She is a miracle worker! I want to add one last quick comment. I had never attended a pro golf tournament before today. It was eye-opening. I'm stunned at how far they hit the ball with such an easy effortless swing. And I noticed something Carolyn mentioned in another video about finishing the golf swing. They all do it perfectly every time. Most amateurs like me do not. There is something to it!

Just Excellent! Yes, if I complete the swing to the proper finish every time, no matter the shank or what, I begin to consistently incorporate the body with the arms. Great video and reinforcement of a fundamental -- good humor. Thank You!

Yes! My trainer says pose for the photo at your finish😊
My swing thoughts 1. lower my left shoulder in downswing 2. Dont early extend that left hip, keep my but back 3. follow through with side bend and straight arms.
Love your channel and your hallway shorts! They helped me with my transition and body separation 👍🏼🤍

Your videos and instruction are amazing coach Carolin!
I have only 1 or 2 swing thoughts; the correct start to the backswing and a slow relaxed tempo throughout my swing.
My biggest issue is that I am often times to quick in transition which causes problems with consistency.
Thanks and keep having fun with your work!

Brilliant, drive your belly button towards the target. Pretty sure that will greatly assist my occassional pull hook! If I try simply to finish balanced and hold my follow through, it invariably works. Love these classic tips. I now have an extra 2 on top of the other 10 to keep in mind 🙂

  • @mickruban3567
    @mickruban3567 4 місяці тому

My swingthoughts start on the drive to the course.
    Stay solid
    Separation
    Lag
Push the ball back on backswing
    No flying elbows
    Weight forward
    Free space through hip rotation
    RELEASE!
    Rotate in a barrel
    Guts to the target
    Weight to leadside
    Don’t be mechanical
Lead with Hips then arms then hands
    Flare lead foot
Stack nose, belly button over ball
Then there’s the driver, chip, pitch, bunker, wet sand, dry sand, plugged ball, submerged (water), putting, green reading, pace, direction, lag, 3 foot.
It’s no wonder I get migraines.

I want to thank Coach Carolyn for her advice on how the knees and front hip work in the golf swing. She mentioned how to keep the front hip extended and flexed a bit forward. This helped keep me from swaying. I am 65 years old and have lost some strength and flexibility. I tend to begin swaying later in the round when I get tired. It is additional movement that gives the appearance and feeling of gaining more power, when in effect it is just the opposite. You have to stay anchored in the swing, and this accomplishes it perfectly. It also forces me to turn and reach back more in my backswing, which generated not only more distance but also improved accuracy. The second tip Carolyn gave concerned the knees. I tend to move my front knee backward when I sway instead of forward which also caused loss of power. These two simple fixes have helped me to gain 20 to 30 more yards in distance with my driver. I am always 50 to 100 yards behind my golf buddies, which is embarrassing. I get teased about playing the red "old ladies" tees, sorry for the inference here. I can't wait to play with them tomorrow and to see their faces when I start catching up to them in distance. I'm a better golfer than they are, but literally have to hit fairway woods on every second shot, on every par 4 hole, and rarely reach the green in two shots, which makes scoring lower much more difficult. There is no margin for error to reach a bogey. Forgive me if this sounds sexist, because it is not and is a complement. But I have always admired women for their smooth and pure golf swing. Again, thank you Coach Carolyn. I will continue to watch your videos.

    • @coachcarolin
      @coachcarolin  3 місяці тому

Hey! Great question and the answer is YES! It’s massively important but less in regards to the night of the hands but more so the turn of your core. On the shorter shots we need to focus on making the core the engine and driving it to the target no matter how high the hands end up.

    Swing thoughts:
    1. Oh shit grip too strong
    2. Wait I don’t see 2 knuckles
    3. Forward shaft lean or no (Saguto golf say yea, Mr. Shortgame say no)
    4. F* it coach Caroline say do what’s comfortable.
    5. Is the ball too forward or back?
    6. Aw shit I forgot to tee up the ball, will my playin partner care if I do it now?
    7. Shit he thinks I’m taking too long.
    8. Deep breathe
    9. Ok take the club back on a straight line and don’t go too far in
    10. Wait rotate don’t be armsy
    11. Take to 9 o clock and then lift arm
    12. Man my shoulders are stiff
    13. Oh No! I’m coming over the top, quick! Flip the wrist!
    14. Oh no it’s not a good finish I’m on my back foot.
    15. Dammit I didn’t even see where my ball went
    16. Play it cool…”you guys see where that went? It felt good but I lost it in the sky”
    17. F*ck I hope I find my ball

My mum taught me how to play when I was about 6 years old. She told me to have my shoulder turn under my chin on the backswing and have a balanced follow through. Countless years later, through innumerable golf lessons, that’s all I remember. Whether it was the age I started or these swing thoughts (my mum would probably say both), I have always played decent golf, no matter how many months/years have passed in between playing. Time, great advice from a pro and practice would no doubt improve my game. But family life has priorities and hopefully my son will come around to enjoying golf with his parents and friends. A simple but awesome journey awaits.
