the dark shade on the eye is kinda like the black lines on a cheetah. They block the sun from hurting their vision so they can see the moose , caribou, and elk. the eyebrows hold a string like whiskers. The whiskers send nerves to there brain
Before Watching the vid: Oh yay a realistic wolf drawing vid! And it's markcrilley too. After watching the vid: They got both eyes the same. Witchcraft.
1:30 Cheetah have similar linings around their eyes and it helps them see when it’s sunny and bright. I’m not sure if this is the case for wolves but I’m just going to guess.
Yeah, tht is the case. Also helps them see at night, becaue black naturally absorbs light so it absorbs all unecessary light allowing wolves to focus on one specific area, and it directs all extra light into pupil/retina, to allow for clearer focus at night and during the day.
OMG THIS IS AMAZING(BTW the black around they eyes protects the eye from the sun, and so it works in all the Snow that gets stuck in their fur or eyes)

Wolves have a special light-reflecting surface right behind their retinas called the tapetum lucidum that helps animals see better in the dark. When light enters the eye, it's supposed to hit a photoreceptor that transmits the information to the brain.
Hey mark crilley, I very much enjoyed your video, it was a perfect step by step and very easy to follow. You mentioned at the end that if we wanted a video that went into more detail about the shading of the fur, to let you know, and I would love that! I always find it a struggle to draw animals because although I can pencil in the features, it is the fur that truly brings animal drawings to life and it is a skill I haven't learned and I don't think it's very well represented on UA-cam art channels
This the video that first got me into drawing since 2011, I improved so much but not realistically. Thanks for letting drawing be in my life and I'm doing this for a living.
I watched this tutorial 3 years ago I been look for it for the last year. I want to thank you you made me start drawing it its currently hanging up in my sitting room
I loved this tutorial because I followed the main guidelines and your advice about the shading, and I was able to create my own type of shading, different from yours, with just my pencil, and I think it looks great Thank you, Mark
HI Mark I am a self taught artist and have been having an issue doing the inside of wolves ears. All the little hairs. You made it look so simple. Thanks for not making it more complicated than needed.
Mark, I can't even begin to describe how much I love your videos :) I've been watching them since I was going through my anime and manga phase when I was about 10. I'm now almost 16 and I still watch whatever you draw because it's just fascinating :) . I don't mean to sound like a suck-up or anything, but I hope I can be as good at drawing as you someday
just followed along pausing during parts of the shading, I still need to practice more. Having said that your instructions made it so the wolf actually looks like a wolf. Thank you Mark!
Great tutorial, I remember drawing a wolf with this same exact tutorial when I was only six. I'm still amazed with my first drawing but I guess that you've just got to get a good tutorial to draw a good picture :)
This was my first ever drawing from a tutorial and I remember I was really proud of my wolf and so were my family. Since they saw it, they never stopped pushing me when I said I couldn't draw something. I drew myself once. My mom saw and told me to draw her friend. I couldn't do and she said I will be able to. I slowly improved and all I draw now are portraits. I want to thank you for getting me to where I am now so thank you Mark Crilley. You're the reason I started drawing. I was 9 years old and I'm 12 (turning 13 in May.) my art account is @kellydraw.s but you don't have to comment or like or follow. Just see my improvement. :) keep on drawing, kiddos
GBEAR Oh and btw You are not the only one mine looked like a messed up animal that got crushed by a giant's foot and that it got a messed up hair cut xD

I showed my headteacher the drawing and he showed it to everyone in the school Assembly. That is what convinced me to drawing wolves non stop until this very day. Thankyou. 😂
I think wolves have black rims around their eyes because it helps reflect light into their eyes, so that they can see better in the dark, it's called the tapetum lucidum. Super fun video!

From what I've gathered, the black area around a wolf's eye is called their "sunglasses" for lack of a better term. It absorbs light and such to protect the wolf's eyes.
yea i tried this picture two times one with a graphite pencil and the other with a normal pencil the graphite one looked a lot better the the normal pencil :D

@@layanabigelow127 Ah that is the same with me. I can’t draw what I see or what I imagine to see, instead my hands just draw some weird looking crap that looks ridiculously cool.

Mark, thank you for making your channel a nice, kid-friendly channel for drawing and art! Thank you so much for being here! I don't think you with notice me but, I just want to say that you are the best artist ever! Your drawings have many different styles and techniques and, you just can draw EVERYTHING! I believe that you deserve WAY more subscribers than Pewdiepie! Bye!
Love,
Your biggest fan,
Mya
Thank you Mya, your comment made my day )
The black eyebrows are used to absorb the light away from the eyes, so that light will not be so intense.
Me: shows my grandma my wolf
My grandma: oh umm that looks good what is it
Me:it’s a wolf duh
*goes to room throws away paper and cry’s *

@@lizzy8587 OMG I CAN RELATE
Yes this is Selina same
Too bad
The fur is hard
i know right!
Dude it's easy
Yeah
its the easiest part of sketching bruuhhh
@@sanskritikulshrestha3777 nope it's the most hard part of sketching
Don’t give up on drawing, just keep trying!
I totally suck at the shading part. Just looks like a load of random lines on it.
Your just jealous that you can't draw like that don't hate if your jealous.
Who said I was jealous. What I drew looks like a wolf,it just would have looked better if I'd coloured it in, rather than trying to shade it
Chloe Caines read her comment, she didn't say Mark was bad she said that she, personally can't shade well.
Oh wow lie
Chloe Caines sarah said, and I quote, 'I totally suck at the shading part.'
Me: that doesnt look hard
“Tries it”
Me: ill just stick to roblox
I'll stick to Royal high

We all must start from somewhere and this really helped me :) wish I could add a photo to show you!!
Great Wolf drawing. I really found it useful for you to go step by step and yes I would like to see separate video of this same drawing or something similar of the shading you did

The thing around a wolf’s eye is called a tapetum lucidum that helps animals see better in the dark. When light enters the eye, it's supposed to hit a photoreceptor that transmits the information to the brain.
Umm....did you know that, or look it up cause you have no life?
Thankyou...I actually managed to draw a wolf!! and it looks amazing!
i love your drawings
Thank you Angelina!
