President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA says the projected increase in copper production at Ming'omba Mine will help contribute to the attainment of the 3 million tonnes of copper production.
Speaking when he met a delegation from KoBold Metals at State House in Lusaka today, President HICHILEMA said every mining asset in the country is expected to contribute to the country's target of increasing copper production by 2031.
He urged the delegation to continue working hard and accelerate efforts, where possible, in boosting production.
President HICHILEMA expressed happiness that Ming'omba Mine has employed more than 500 workers and that more employment opportunities will be created.
He commended the company for taking part in local business promotion which he said is a key component of their operations.
And Ming'omba Metals Chief Executive Officer MFIKEYI MAKAYI said 75 thousand cumulative meters of drilling has taken place in the last two years and a high rate of ore body has been unlocked.
Ms. MAKAYI said Ming'omba Mines anticipates copper production of about 300,000 tonnes by 2031 and that it has to commence shaft sinking in the next 12 months in order to achieve that.
Meanwhile, Kobold Metals President and Co-Founder JOSH GOLDMAN said that Ming'omba Mine has one of the most extraordinary deposits of copper in the world.

@@alicksonsiriya8183 No, they will always wallow. you know why? Cos their mindset is poverty. Even you gave Zambians free mealimeal and free houses, they will always be poor. You know why? Cos The free mealie meal you gave them, they will still resell it for profit in cash. And come back to you for more free mealie meal. So Poverty in zambia? will always be there. Therefore the President must only target the rich cos the rich, just 1 person can employ everyone and they in turn feed all their families. Poor people in Zambia? waste of resources iwe. You help them and thats when they start judging you-is this machine you bought me, original or its from china? ah ah! but just yesterday ,you couldnt even afford the one from Kanyama?
