In a letter to Japan, published in the NY Times, sponsored by the World Wildlife Fund, 21 scientists declared: "Japan's whale research program fails to meet minimum standards for credible science. My personal position is that any and all sustainable hunting/fishing should be allowed. Period. Once a species becomes endangered it should not be hunted/fished anymore. If properly managed no species would ever become endangered. Over hunting/fishing in the past has lead to some species becoming endangered. I feel that proper managment will allow for both species to flurish and for hunting/fishing to continue. It will take work and compromise to acheive this. The SSCS refuse compromise.
sonar is used to get around, when the sound waves bounce off objects like underwater canyons they let us know they are there, that way we dont run into a side off a canyon, they also let us find other subs and detect torpedos, i've been in the navy for 13 years currently stationed aboard the SSN-775 I think i know what sonar does, what did you think we used to get around radar, which sucks underwater

You're right, and it really doesn't have to much to do with even the "cute and smart" animals. It's really about Paul's ego trip and the omega-personality followers who desperately want some "purpose" in their lives and an alpha personality to tell them how to find it. These same nuts will follow David Koresh, Tony Robbins or L. Ron Hubbard if they find them at the right time.

All Commercial and Industrial fishing need to be outlawed. Let the seas and oceans return to their natural state. Allow only manmade lake fish farming to feed the masses. Self-sustainment fishing is okay as long as limits are in place to protect from overfishing.
SJ, the whalers aren't whaling in Australian sovereign waters or the Aussie government would intervene. There is a "claim" that the Aussies made for a huge are of water around Antarctica that they call the "Australian Whale Sanctuary", but it is not their territory and no international body recognizes it as such. It would be the same if the U.S. "claimed" the Pacific ocean as the "American Lobster Sanctuary". There's no legal ground for it at all.

Do you have nothing better to do
The SS have done some radical things (not shown or mentioned in this show) but I think that they should be praised for taking such lengths in fighting for what they believe in.
subhunter?? you mean a enemy sub thats why there is passive sonar, active is only used whenever there is no threat of another sub, if thats what you mean?
The estimated number of Minke is 500k to a million. Their quote last year was 850 and they took 551. I'm not sure what you're talking about.
us aussies ain't good at much, but we will continue to save our whales!
"Fact: The Japanese whalers are only allowed to hunt Fin and Southern Minke" - sorryimsogreat2
It's nice to know you're such a fan of mine. Trust me, it takes one to know one doesn't it?
In a letter to Japan, published in the NY Times, sponsored by the World Wildlife Fund, 21 scientists declared: "Japan's whale research program fails to meet minimum standards for credible science. Also, their whaling is not designed to answer questions relevant to the management of Whales & Japan refuses to make the information it collects available for independent review & its research program lacks a testable hypothesis and performance indicators needed for acceptable scientific standards."
DR. TIMOTHY STEPHENS: "Sea Shepherd argues that they are enforcing international law on the high seas when no one else is prepared to step up to the plate. That's a very strong moral argument. It's not a very strong legal argument because we just don't accept that the law can be enforced in a kind of self-help or private way on the high seas. I mean, we don't really accept vigilantes in our society enforcing the law. We don't accept vigilantes on the high seas enforcing the law."
Keep up the good work :-)
My personal position is that any and all sustainable hunting/fishing should be allowed.
Near the end, is that an ocean liner on the horizon?
little boat taunting the big boat.... Who is going to win this one?
sonar is used to get around, when the sound waves bounce off objects like underwater canyons they let us know they are there, that way we dont run into a side off a canyon, they also let us find other subs and detect torpedos, i've been in the navy for 13 years currently stationed aboard the SSN-775 I think i know what sonar does, what did you think we used to get around radar, which sucks underwater
I'm not a fan of whaling, but after seeing a few of these shows, I'm for the whalers.
I think whales are much smarter than we think. They trust people ecause that is in their nature, they are such gentle creatures! It is a trait that humans, sadly, have traded for greed in arrogance.
Japanese brain: Issei Sagawa (born June 11, 1949) is a japanese man who in 1981 murdered and cannibalized a Dutch woman named Renée Hartevelt. After his release, he became a celebrity in Japan and made a living through their public's interest in his crime. Sagawa described himself as a "weak, ugly, and small man" and claims that he wanted to "absorb her energy". His wealthy father provided a top lawyer for him, but he was released after only two years and without a trial. wikipedia. org
What Animal Planet "Senior Member" are you refering to?

Sounds pretty decisive to me.
6 whales died from the pollution and warming cause by Sea Shepherd in this one episode alone.
WHALE WARS IS AWESOME!!!!!
HAPPY TUESDAY JESUS CHRIST ... WE MISS YOU!
Although they have not yet struck the S.S. flag, the Netherlands recently stated that the S.S. is breaking international sea rules.
All Commercial and Industrial fishing need to be outlawed. Let the seas and oceans return to their natural state. Allow only manmade lake fish farming to feed the masses. Self-sustainment fishing is okay as long as limits are in place to protect from overfishing.
To thwart a Sea Shepard attack, wave in a friendly manner.
What "trap"? When was the "spring"? They're so silly.
