A great show! A good homage to the original! It should've run longer - ideas for disasters for the Thunderbirds to deal with are: - a Tsunami off the coast of Japan. - Rescuing the President on Air Force One. - an underwater volcano erupting off the site of Krakatoa. - An episode detailing the origin & formation of the Thunderbirds. -Having candidates for a back up team. A final showdown between International Rescue & the Shadow Axis should've been seen. Cmdr. Jared Simpson, Capt. Grant Hanson, & Capt. Kallan James are the best characters.
I wish this could be re-made and fully integrated into the greater Thunderbirds story. Thunderbirds Are Go has been such a fantastic re-make of the original Thunderbirds! But, the rights are probably too disparate fo that to happen...
Never say never!! Its very possible and I think could be AMAZING. Imagine a new improved Thunderbirds(maybe 3000 this time), with the stories, conflicts, and themes of the original Thunderbirds. Epic overload, that would be. Honestly Leiji Matsumoto and his team should try to tackle this, Captain Harlock was pretty epic and honestly, they would fit into his universe like glove.
Awesome first episode - great pacing/editing, good music although the voice acting/mixing was a bit weird. Great animation too. Wish there was a remaster of this but I read somewhere that they lost the original film or files... really sad.
although there is many great cartoons of the 60`s and 70`s that you can watch, especially one`s by hanna and barbera, the 80`s was when i was growing up and especially watching kids tv, and especially cartoons, and this was the era when cartoons really grew up, and at for me although i can only possibly comment on the one`s that i was watching at the time such as, thunderbirds 2086, the incredible hulk, inspector gadget, the smurfs, droids, muppet babies, fonz and the happy days gang, teenage mutant hero turtles, defenders of the earth, mysterious cities of gold, dungeons and dragons, battle of the planets, he man and the masters of the universe, the real ghostbusters, ulysses 31, pole position, star trek the animated series, godzilla, spiderman and his amazing friends, thundercats, the centurions, to name a few, and at least as an adult, you do seem to notice things that you perhaps didn`t ever consider while watching these as a child, such as no one seeming to notice that prince adam seems to look a lot like he man, that at least most of the girls in these cartoons were very pretty, that inspector gadget is so stupid that penny and brains have to solve all the cases and yet people still think that he`s still a great cop, in mysterious cities of gold for apparently people who were perhaps seen as primitive by the spanish there doe`s seem to be incredible technology about that not even the people in europe can hope to have, in godzilla explain my how they managed to be best mates with godzilla in the first place especially as in japan he`s seen as a possible threat, and why doe`s most cartoons seem to have an annoying sidekick or friend in them, such as snarf in thundercats, or nano in ulysses 31, and apart from the fact that the odyssey seems to have an endless supply of space ship`s and just how big is it supposed to be, and how can you built and design such a craft and let alone how long it would take you,to construct ,and for a massive space ship that in the first episode seems to need a large crew to operate it, and then when they all go to sleep, the ship suddenly only needs, ulysses a robot and a couple of kids.
Odd, there's a scene missing @ 6.43 - after Kallan leaves Simpson's office there should be a scene of Kallan and Dylan running and talking in a corridor...

Nope, no one ever really follows orders in this show. It's a "greater good' theme in which the governmental authority structure is only good for funding. But it's a good show, even if the flying sleds might be the single least sensible way imaginable to accomplish their task.
But where is Lady Penelope and Parker and the island looks like a copy of Tracy island but we're Scott Tracy and Virgil Tracy and Alan Tracy and John treacy and where's the mole and the other rescue vehicles and Thunderbird 2 pods are gone missing
It's a Japanese anime that wasn't originally created as a Thunderbirds spinoff. The "TB" on the vehicles is short for "TechnoBoyager", the name of the series and the organisation in Japanese; it was a lucky coincidence that it also stood for "Thunderbird". The English dub made it into a Thunderbirids spinoff.
Still would like to know what was the song title from 8:21 as it's not in the OST. It sounds Haneda like but only seems to be heard on English version.

When I'm finally finished with my "Star Fleet" remaster project, I'll probably have a go at trying to remaster TB2086 with the recent Japanese DVD.
