40 years later, this album still holds up. Oh to be 14 again and cranking it all summer long on my boombox.
Come on! Be 14 again every once in a while! 😊👍
Same here.
@@ronaran8420 ha ha ha you are right!
@@JayBuff19I would have been 5 years old would when this concert was played. 😂 I wish I could have been there. But I've been a huge Police fan ever since I was old enough to start hearing their songs, starting around maybe 7-8.
Sting and Stewart are an incredible rhythm section, but the way Andy fills in with the melody and the harmonic flourishes is mind boggling. He’s a master of digital delay.
😀Why do I own 15 guitars, 7 Synths, countless drums, bells, wind chimes and other musical instruments. These guys, that's why. How did they do that?
The best band ever for me. And live, you'll never see better inprov.
Stew, Andy and Stingo are geniuses. These songs are timeless. The best act ever, Full Stop.
Stewart Copeland is my drum God! Never get enough of him!
YES. STEWART FOR EVER ...!!!!GOD!!!!!@
When you become master at your craft, you shine like a bright star, like Sting at the the time. These moments are short and precious and they never return.
icl steward copeland andy summers
But they did return in 2007-2008 with the reunion tour. (5th highest grossing tour ever) Without Stewart and Andy their would be no Sting. One of the best 3 piece bands in history!
well said. everything is fleeting.
@@WThomas66 You're wrong! without Sting there won't be any Stewart and Andy, anybody can be a drummer or anybody can be a guitarist but there's only one Sting. Look at Sting now, without those two he's still famous and popular. So, look at Stewart and Andy now, where are they?just vanished? they need someone called Sting 😏🤥
@@sydkibweterer2719rubbish. Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland are doing quite well scoring movie soundtracks and composing orchestral concerts. The three guys are all exceptional musicians in their own right but the alchemy of the Police is greater than the sum of it's parts.
People forget just how big the police were in the 80’s.. One of the best bands ever in my opinion. And always sounded good live💪🏻🤘🏻🎸
The Police were the biggest band in the world the first half of the 80s. They literally handed the baton off to U2 at a huge charity gig in 1986
@@007ndc I beg to differ. The biggest band in the world at that time was Queen. Uncontested.
And when they came back in 2007 they aged BUT still sounded amazing!!! Long live the police!!!!
@@QuotenwagnerianerBy that point though, for some reason, Queen's popularity had faded in the US and I think they stopped touring there. I think possibly, the Hot Space album was not well received.(I personally really like it).
The Police were playing stadiums as well as large arenas in the US in 83.
I know Queen still maintained a massive fan base in Europe and South America. They did have a miniscule dip in popularity (by their own standards)though until Live Aid and the Kind of Magic album was somewhat of a comeback. I don't really think they regained their popularity in the USA until Bohemian Rhapsody was used in the Wayne's World film.
Yeah, no argument from me here. But the U.S. is not the world, even though some people from there seem to believe so. ;)@@mancuniancandidatem
Best I've ever heard Stewart by far he was at his peak at this point in time. Unreal drummer he's so damn great in this concert!!
Police are great but Jimi Hendrix Experience says hi.
@@JeffreySykes heehe!
Agree!!!
Watch him on Letterman’s drum solo week…and understand he wrote every note of every instrument played…he was fucking great here……nowhere even near his peak….he just gets better as a musician….year after year.
Stewart is my favourite drummer, largely because he's such a minimalist. He's so damn precise, but makes it look effortless.
Holy crap Sting’s voice is amazing here.
Well, he was only 32 here.
Its a time machine , I am a teenager again.
Thanks so much.
I love The Police . One of the best bands ever.
@Anne Woodward You trolling everyone? Let people like what they like.
I saw the Police in Oakland, CA one month after this. Unforgettable show. So happy to see this video! I was 19 then and now I’m pushing 60. Jeez.
Stewart Copeland just kills it here!!!!
I was lucky enough to see The Police on their 2008 reunion tour. To say they were a special band is an understatement.
So did I, unfortunately Andy was really crap and ruined the concert to the point I wanted a refund.
I caught their Seattle show from that tour, and it was incredible. Really enjoyed it.
@@goranekstrom708 dont be so hard on the man, i was there too, and from my musical point of view he wasnt that bad, at all, i ve heard really bad ones, be thankful u got the chance to hear them once more, just like Rush, can u go see them again? No right! . .
To me it was more Sting that ruined it. He just could not stick to the melody.
Ihr seit Dummschwätzer....
You gotta love how they walk on stage and one minute later they're playing an incredibly tight song. Sting is all business. What a band.
Copeland was a master of pushing the beat. It gave their music an unmistakable liveliness.
A forward momentum.
It is hard to put into words why some drummers bring bands to another level, Copeland certainly did.
Cocaine is a hell of a drug
@joesaxon6566 Then give your cocaine to nowdays drummers, that way maybe they could save music from the sh!t that has become.
The Police and Rush , the BEST three piece bands EVER!!
Cream?
@@jakubbielak7273 ELP?
Hüsker Dü (Nirvana doesn't exist without them), Cream , ZZ Top
Brmc
Police is Police
A week later they sold out Shea Stadium and they said to each other, “It doesn’t get any bigger than this”. And Sting decided on that night that it was over for him in the Police after the tour ended.
And I was there that night!
@@marcsaunders8599 Me too!
And Philly and Atlantic City. ❤️
Stewart Copeland is the greatest drummer.
Wrong!
Bill Bruford is the man.
@@ricardooliva4034 Well! Their are many drummer that you can say are the greatest. But I do agree that Bruford are better then Copeland
if it was rating pure energy and drive... yeah. He may win. otherwise.. not nearly the greatest, and the conversation is kinda sad in all cases. Most musicians, and I've heard most of the drummers (the only ones you likely know) say that they hate the fan hero worship when the words "best and greatest" come in. Because as musicians, they know the truth. They're NOT~
So, i will restate your comment:
Stewart Copeland is my favorite drummer.
And the guy who likes bruford... same thing. I've heard more than one producer that worked with him a lot say how bad his meter is.. and it is true. But still amaazing at his little slice. As a drummer, producer and Bruford and Copeland lover, it's all sad the hear that stuff. They do what they do. Let them have their super tiny slice of drumming. So many ca do, and or are better than them and the things that "drummers" are. More true today.
Let the world to be, state your own thing without messing with others words and thoughts. Cheers.
@@morbidmanmusic you say all this and not even offer a name for rubuttal. But yet you "restate" my thoughts. Lol.
Sting's vocals are unreal...such a unique band...what huge band has no "normal" guitar solos? Copeland was controlled chaos...pure energy...
I went to the Police 1983 concert ❤❤. What a concert. Simply magnificent
oui oui
It must of been INSANE in such a small venue ! ! ! !
I was only 5 years old when this was recorded. I had to wait untill the 2007 Réunion your. 😊
I saw them in a bar in the 70's
This was the night before an enormous stadium gig with 60,000 tickets sold. It was a secret concert that was announced on the radio starting around 3 pm and by 6 pm the Spectrum was full....the sound in that place was about as good as you can get, having been specifically designed for live music....I did not see the show but I heard the announcement on the radio...oh and it was free
That is unheard of today . How great a free concert with the police!!!
I was there.
I loved Le Spectrum. very cool concerts in a magical space...I bet the artists who played it remember it well.
Sadly on that night at the SPECTRUM i wasn't there shocks the POLICE were 3 on stage and sounded like 13 now that's a BAND ❤❤😊😊jpp Québec city
they usually have a few backstagers helping
And by now, everyone in this episode is 40 years older... Some are in old folks homes, some dead... That's how fast it goes !
Frightening AF 😢
I'm 62 now lol love Police always have, Sting lived few miles from me when he was born.
I think Andy Summers' guitar is what makes this band (I love Sting and Stewart is one of my favourite drummers)
you are correct.
Sting and Stewart are pretty tight though?
@@alanrobertson5602 of course! Stewart is one of my favourite drummers 👌
El soporte musical-coros, también tienen mucho que ver con el desarrollo y armonía de las canciones, en este concierto las primeras canciones estaban con mascaras, debe ser la estrategia del concierto. Police gran equipo.
Copeland was an outright beast on the drums
He still is. - check out Gizmodrome.
Sheer brilliance.... their perfect performance and meaningful lyrics gives me goosebumps! The best western culture had to offer these days... skill, craftmanship, spirit, high energy and pleasure combined!
He drum s like jazz musically trained wow!?!
After The Beatles, The Police was the most great band in history of pop-rock music.
Wrong way around pal.
Agree with Rodrigo.
Beatles and Police are totally different species in every way, it's like saying "after apples orange are the best"; a total non-sensical comparison.
I'll never forgive myself for missing this. Tickets were free but you had to phone to a local radio station to get them. My friend and I didn't have tickets, but we briefly thought about going anyway, then we said "Aahh... no!" The next day, we read that, when it was show time, organisers realized that they had not given enough tickets so they let in people who were in the street in front of the venue (Le Spectrum.)
Pure nostalgia!
For a brief, i'd forgotten my age.
The talent that this trio had is something to be recon with.
High quality!!!
Thanks for the journey
Music has the ability to take you back in time.
One of the rare times where Sting seems to be in a relatively good mood during a live show! Actually cracked a smile a few times…
Probably because they were playing in a much smaller venue. By this time they were selling out stadiums and arenas everywhere, playing a club like Le Spectrum was probably a nice break from the massive shows.
Cool, thanks for posting!
We all saw The Police, three days later, Aug 5th, 1983, in Toronto at the CNE Stadium.
Great line up, Blue Peter, King Sunny Ade, Peter Tosh and Simple Minds!!!
I'm staring at the poster, here in my office, as I listen to this.
Went to all of The Police Picnics, a a couple Sting shows too, Great Great Band!!!
Glad you're enjoying this one, thank you for stopping by!
The Police the best band ever!!!
Police are one of very few bands who “batted 1000”, meaning they were 5 for 5; each one of their albums was fantastic.
You must be a real fanatic, as I doubt even the band would claim that. Lots of filler tracks on every Police album.
@@musicandfilms9956 wrong. Only one bad/filler song, “Mother”
The Other Way of Stopping? Be My Girl - Sally? Just a couple of additional fillers (and I'm a Police fan-atic since 1983).🤨
Every little thing they did was magic.
In 1983 there was no live record of The Police. I recorded that concert from TV show on VHS and every day after school I used to played guitar on it trying to reproduce Andy Summers' playing. I still remember the girl dancing in the audience at 18:16
Great music times, nowdays they look even further away. Andy is an amazing guitarist, he should have more credit. Cheers man!
I got very lucky and saw The Police live in Chicago at Wrigley Field just before cell phones invaded society. I have been to Montreal three times for Footbag Competitions, twice to compete and once just to hang out with fellow kickers and see the level of play. It would have been an outstanding upstanding everlasting experience to combine the two experiences together. Taking nothing away from Chicago but Montreal is unforgettable. Just as The Police live are too.......❤❤ Thanks for the memories Montreal........
Copeland on Message in a Bottle is a mind-blowing driving force.
Obi Wan, the force was strong with these ones!
In 1983 itwas the album of the year....!!! So many souvenirs!!!!
They were on top of their game in this show and we're just fantastic sounding all around, great great concert for ages,..thanx for sharing this
Sting counting how many people in the beginning as the producers were afraid there wasn't going to be enough people as it was a secret surprise show!
Stewart!!!!!!! What a legend.
What a band !!!
All the audience footage from this wound up in the officially released police synchronicity concert live in Atlanta. Filmed by the same people. This is a better concert. Stimg’s voice is so much better here than in the officially released one.
It’s sad, on these soundboard recordings you don’t get the full effect of the delay on stings voice and stews drums, it was one of the best things abt the concert and tour bootleg tapes
Yes. I remember the first time I ever saw a clip of them live playing Walking On The Moon. the echo on from the drum sound was magical.
Can't believe this is 40 years ago!
I was a senior in high school and saw them on this tour. Good times!
Thank you for posting. I have never watched the full Montreal show. It’s quite an entertaining counterpoint to the Atlanta video, which obviously went through extensive post-production and dubbing. I really enjoyed the rawness of Montreal- classic Police live power. I know the Police were not happy with this performance, and that’s why they recorded Atlanta. I can hear the mix is dodgy, at times. It would be interesting to know if this video was a rough cut that was never finished. Anyway, thank you. I feel like I watched a new Police release. I just wish Sting would cut the BS and just give us another magical Police album.
I've never seen a better performance by the band. Wow. Studio-like vocals by Sting. Less ad-lib. And that phone call recording at the end was just hilarious.
The genius. I’m so impressed I Iose words to describe how wonderful their music is… Thank you.
Damn, I knew Stuart was good, but this is amazing!!! 😍
When they came back to Montreal in 2007 for come back tour at the bell center i got to see them!! AMAZING!!! My number one group!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks for the post!
They need to remaster this and release it , there’s no known videos from that era
Music industry these days are only interested to reggaeton and garbage like that; the real good music is not a great business anymore.
The Police is the Best Bands ever !
#Retired4You
Thank you for this Heart & all the Best to you !
#Retired4You
Cool! Great upload really enjoying this concert! 👍
Superchannel featured this concert back then. I had cable running into our home receiver, and recorded this and the interviews on a BASF 90 minute cassette.
Thank you for sharing!! Great show, great album, great three-piece!
i was at this show!
Amazing!!! I love them!!!!!
so many songs over 150 bpm. Synch 1 200+ bpm. Stewart is great physical shape.
Perfect musical simplicity!
I swear some of those crowd shots were inserted into their Atlanta show video. I recognized that guy from the opening tune. I mean, unless he followed them to Atlanta and did the exact same facial expressions.
As others have commented, many audience shots are identical. Which from which show?
I remember missing this on tv and DESPERATELY hoping it to rerun.
brilliant band , all three super talented
Sooooooo good. Grew up obsessed with this album, learned to so much musically.
There is no mystery here, it is just one bloody great song after the other non stop, very hard to match.
Thanks for posting. I had no idea this existed. ❤
Jesus Christ what a treat! Very nostalgic
What a find! My favorite group growing up.
Synchronicity Amazing tour!!
That was a great concert.
Recorded for early Pay TV ("First Choice" Rocks and a Japanese partner) with Blue Peter as the opening act
Fantastic❤️❤️👍👍👍my first concert 1983 in France...57 years today Always Police fan 😀🇲🇫🎸
Why is this not an official release it’s bloody awesome probs was a laser disc in Japan at some stage
Three geniuses.
I saw this tour in Vancouver, unforgettable.
Peak of their powers. Saw this show at the Orange Bowl in Miami. Amazing! The Fixx and The Animals opened. Fantastic too.
Choruses on walking in yer footsteps are just great
I saw them three months later in November '83. It was great!
Thanks for putting this up, the police are my favourite band
Same here! Police was my first favourite band! Thanks for the visit and comment!
Peak Police. So great to be able to experience this!
Muy Bueno !!!
that was the time of the police ,and sting best of all my evrytime favorite style/album
Genial!!!
best live rendition of every breath you take
Fantastico avevo solo 15 anni ma già li ascoltavo
I saw this incredible tour at the orange bowl in Miami. Amazing show. I remember the animals and the fixx (awesome also) opening.
This is where I belong
Concert fabuleux au Spectrum de Montréal, production audiovisuelle exceptionnelle, et la touche finale avec cette auditrice de CHOM. Un classique.
Saw them in 83 in KC with Stevie Nicks opening. Amazing.
great memories of Ingelston Market, Edinburgh 1983.
Que lindo es ver a Police en vivo , yo lo vo vi hace mucho tiempo en Obras Sanitarias y en el estadio de River ,inolvidable !!!
Just chillin watching the footy and listening to The Police.
Un concierto espectacular, aquí esta la mejor interpretación en vivo de “Synchronicity II”.
King of pain amazing lyrics 👍🏻
I remember seeing this concert on much music as a special on NYE one year
perfect!
sincronicity I and II best versions i,ve heard live, to me the best creation of the police
