My oldest is in public school this year and that has really helped me wake up earlier and get moving with our day. I can relate to this about waking up earlier! It is hard to adjust. I enjoyed hearing how things are going

So sweet that Emma and Jack work so well together! Those are the best moments!! And the idea of a set, morning walk sounds like such a great idea! I love that. I also try to get my kindergartner to have all of her work done by lunch. It just seems to flow better that way🙂 Thanks for sharing your update!!

It is really nice to see them work so well together! And finishing by lunch is a great idea for your little one!

We are late risers around here and I recently started waking my 5th grade daughter up at 6:45 and she gets all of her independent work done before the little kids wake up. It’s been going really well! She actually gets done faster at that time of day. No distractions. 😊

Yes, the no distractions is huge! We still have breaks in our day, and my older kids are still working in the afternoons, but the work that I am doing with them is done, and that is what I really needed.

I enjoy our discussions with our teens also. You see the fruits of your labor from the early years. 🌻

Lol I totally feel you on the kids being early risers thing. I always try to tell my kids to sleep a little longer but I can easily see it working out the way it has for you all. Ours days go smoother too when everyone is up and we’re knocking things out early.

I definitely have prioritized sleep over the years, those early years of babies and toddlers really got me 🤣 But, I think everyone is happy now to have their specific pockets of time to work on passion projects. And my youngest is thrilled to be done so early that she has the rest of the day to play and enjoy.

It's a newer thing for us, but I am definitely enjoying it! It reminds me of when I only had littles 😊

I love the 8 am time frame. We were meeting at 8 or 8:30 in the past however this year we are meeting at 11:30 because of my teens schedules. I was glad to see you in this collab. I enjoyed hearing your update. 🌻

I also don’t want to be doing homeschool all day… I’ve always made my kids up start at a certain time, because I just can’t be on all day :)

I think it kind of crept up on me as the kids got into upper middle/high school, I all of a sudden had all of this time in the morning that I needed for various things. But, now with the workload so large, it just isn't possible anymore 🤣

Yes, too much free time does allow you to waste too much time in the end...there's a fine line between too much free time and too much structure....

Absolutely! I'm not opposed to have more downtime in our days, but I think that we have to have some boundaries. Or at least I do! My kids are great at getting their work done, but I don't want to have to be thinking about it when I am also getting dinner ready 🤣 This seems to be working quite well for us. It probably helps that we have had so many break weeks too, essentially just little spurts of focused work, and then a break week 🤷🏼‍♀️
