It sounds and reads like gravy! However, ANYONE who has entered military service KNOWS you start at the bottom and work your way Up! That means cleaning bathrooms, bunk areas and kitchens for a few months. THEN....you get your school, training, and squadron assignment! THEN.....It starts all over again! You are a newbie at the bottom and work your way Up! Canada comes off all squeaky clean and great. And I do not doubt that. I flew P3C for 4 years with the US Navy.
YES! Thank you for this comment! Crew Selection is amongst the top 1% of bootcamp candidates. I was selected for Nuclear Submarines with the US Navy but chose ASW
I can only speak for US Navy aircrew. While home You have your Squadron assignments, Your Shop assignments, and your Crew Assignments (If you are assigned to the Ready 1 or Ready 2 which are standby planes that are Ready to Fly) not in that order. Basically while home you go to work 8a-5p M-F. With weekends off. UNLESS....You are flying! So your Crew assignment is too fly...You Fly. Based on Landing and chock times you will get the next day off. So you go to work, report at your shop where the day's duties are discussed. Everyone has an ancillary job. Mine was stocking the Navigational Charts for all the Pilots. Three pilot bags for 9 aircrews that changed twice a month. A LOT of work. DEPLOYMENT: You Fly. Twice or even three times as much! Once you land then you find out your flying again in 12 hours! You Live, sleep and eat with your Crew on deployment. Remember those Ready 1/2? If assigned on deployment? YOU ARE FLYING REGARDLESS! It is a different life. I loved it! Plus you have to train with new equipment and for promotions. Also, getting your aircrew wings is the most important event and takes up a lot of your time.
Can we please get an updated video of this trade? Would love to see something new

He's wearing glasses. Why did they tell me I can't be aircrew wearing glasses? Oh well. Infantry wasn't so bad
Anyone know what a typical day is like on the job in and out of deployment?
