"Side baffles"? Nope. They're called "passive radiators". They work similarly to vents (help to improve bass at lower frequencies). Passive radiators are better than vents for small boxes that you want to keep waterproof... :-).
@ Brian Steele - passive radiators are for allowing the displaced air that is moved from the cabinet/case during a woofer's throw to be accounted for without needing an open port. The only time a pass. radiator thrusts outwards is when the woofers are returning to the coil. So they serve no other purpose. Ported or radiated cabinets have no difference in how a woofer responds. The crossover, impedance, wattage, cone surround design and compound and throw distance are all that affect a woofer's performance.
@@Twitch_Moderator PRs and vents make a SIGNIFICANT difference to how a woofer responds. At their resonance frequency, the woofer moves only a little, and significantly less than if the cabinet were just a basic sealed cabinet, As a result, the efficiency of the system around the resonance frequency is increased, sometimes significantly so. Your understanding of how PRs work is unfortunately not correct.
I have the Tribit Micro 2 & Soundcore Motion Plus. The Tribit sounds great for a Micro speaker and love the option to "Turn of Auto Power Off" also has power bank feature plus built in mike that allows taking calls on it. The Sound core Motion plus with 30watts sounds great but it lacks Mic, Cannot turn off Auto turn off,,,,so every time the TV is turned on by remote, need to manually turn this speaker on. and no power bank function. So am looking to sell the Soundcore and getting Tribit instead.
I have never seen your videos, i saw so many reviews of these speakers but yours is my favourite, i heard everything i wanted to know. Did you also play with the Soundcore EQ app? Or with an external EQ? Because a lot of users say that it can improve the bass a bit, and did you had the latest firmware running for the Motion boom plus?
Good video thanks for posting. I ended up buying the motion boom plus. I am very shocked at how far technology has come. It produces a very good sound for the money spent and has some volume when I want it louder. I also got a second one to run Tws, even though each box is stereo left and right. I just wanted the option of two boxes, one left and one right. I was blown away again at the quality of sound for the money. I’m sure the other box is great too.
I have the Tribit. And..... i love it! I was deciding between the two when i made my decision. The Stormbox Blast is FAR better than its 200 bucks cost. But now i think ill pickup the Soundcore MB+ as well. Its amazing technology has come this far that these brands can offer this level of excellence for affordable prices, Hell, i was gonna wait for the JBL boombox 3. I dont need to now. Thank you Tribit and Anker/ Soundcore......for making kick ass products affordable! I also have the stormbox micro 2, and the soundcore q30 headphones. Now along comes the Motion x600 from Soundcore. I may need that as well. Jeez
I have the tribit blast, great speaker that punches above it's cost. My favorite speaker is my soundcore motion+ vocals are amazing for a smaller speaker.
I prefer Soundcore Motion Boom Plus because if I walk with my dog which I always do, MB+ is much lighter. I'm not also more into loudness. I prefer Quality although I'm sure Tribit does good in an Open area or Outdoor.
Not sure if these comments are monitored anymore.i have a 1954 truck and looking for a Bluetooth speaker which do u recommend. For a small truck cab. I appreciate you
Great review! 😛 I have the Soundcore Motion + and thoroughly enjoy it, so l don't need to choose one of these. But I think they both offer different things. I would probably prefer the more detailed sound of the Soundcore speaker. But I also totally understand if someone would want the pure power of the Tribit. 🙂 Take care Aaron and thanks for the entertaining coverage as always!
Thanks Philip! It's crazy what these speakers can do nowadays. The downside is when people take them on hikes and camping with complete disregard for nature and people around them. [Getting off my soapbox now.]

If u are into the heavy bass like rap crap blk listener trash boom boom music , then Tribit storm blast is for u, Boom plus is more crystal clean sound & great bright highs, detailed sound & got bass to it too just NOT over shattered like Tribit blast, good for old school rock/pop & jazz listener ....BUT Tribit blast is $151 and Motion boom plus for $125 right now , u cant f*n beat that ....i bought both lol
The wrong speaker has the shoulder strap I had the Tribit but after a few weeks of trying to make it work I decided to return it. Sound was great but it was just too heavy for my needs. I needed a speaker I could lug around with me without it being a workout. The Soundcore MBP fit that bill
@@omegarad123 Especially since you can use some random cord around the handle as a shoulder strap, this is what I do with my Blast and it's easy to carry around that way
tribit stormbox blast is basically the better speaker with better batterylife. better bass and the rest you can fix with an eq. only contra is the more than double weight. unfortunately it has one missing feature, what makes it a no go bluetooth box for me. YOU CANT CHARGE THE TRIBIT WITH A ORDINARY POWERBANK. Why???? A portable speaker that you cant charge on the way is no real portable speaker for me. Thats why the soundcore motion boom plus is the better speaker.
Um... many newer vehicles do have AC outlets and older vehicles can use affordable AC/DC inverters so really not an issue unless you really don't like the product or just not having knowledge of vehicles or electrical systems.... And a high output phone charger is needed for the sound core, not uncommon today though but screwed without one on charge time....
i had the soundcore for about two weeks before trading it in for the tribit, after finding a great deal on it (about 150€). its such a great speaker for the price!
@@gearupaaron oh definitely! the thing is HEAVY haha. But imo battery life and deeper bass compensate well for it :) Great video btw, love your content !
The tribute suffers at producing good bass at higher levels while and wider sound, also I noticed the souncore was much clearer at 100 percent and very loud at 60 ft away while the tribute was not that loud
I had it blasting at a city demonstration with hundreds in the streets. The Blast was pumping bass atmax volume the whole time and sounded killer. I purchased a motion boom plus and returned it as the bass really didn't match up at any volume. The midst and highs were more crisp on the Anker, but that alone wasn't enough for me to keep it.

Not to be mean, but you comment on the sound quality but you cannot benchmark sound quality outside. You can benchmark the loudness. But the only people that care about how loud a speaker goes are children and teenagers. As an adult, we care about the quality and clarity of sound. So for the next time, when you benchmark audio performance, do it inside where we can get proper samples of the frequencies and how the speakers respond to each genre of music.
Thanks for sharing! You're right, I oughta add in an indoor piece next time. These kinds of speakers are outdoor speakers and since that's how most consumers will use them, that's the way I tested it. Thanks again for watching! 👍
I disagree, this test is not perfect but the speaker is a outdoor speaker not a indoor. There are way better options for indoor. Outdoot listening test are hardare to replicate then indoor because the ennviroment changes. But you can still 100% have criticall listening outdoors, the sound profile changes a bit on the speaker but still.
I work in a warehouse and are allowed to bring my speaker (JBL X 3) in. loudness is a plus. Especially the louder the environment gets. I am not saying clarity doesn’t matter cause of course it does. I actually appreciated the outdoor sound test he performed. i want to be able to hear my music loud and far but also clear and close.
