I haven't been to Carowinds in 20 years. Just went back this past weekend and the first roller-coaster I hopped on was this one...my beloved Top Gun❤ (imma still call it that idk, lol) magnificent ride
This coaster is still surprisingly forceful and smooth for the majority of the ride. The only time your head whips around I found is on the last barrel roll towards the end of the ride. In my opinion a must ride at carowinds if you haven't been on afterburn before and easily a top 4 coaster of the park.
Best B&M Invert in my opinion. It is ridiculously intense, especially the batwing element, and even the drop and after the vertical loop when you are in the transition before the dive loop, it provides ridiculous amounts of positive gs!!!! This is even my #2 in the park.
So i wonder will Afterburn becomes a national historic landmark from the American Coaster Enthusiast club because for example there's another inverted coaster became a national historic landmark from ACE like Batman the Ride at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee Illionois.

Make a river rapids ride in the Carolina boardwalk section called queen Ann's rapids and it is a pun on blackbeard's boat queen Ann's revenge and the storyline is in pirate times you are in a barge in blackbeard bay where there is a hidden treasure where 2 pirate crews are fighting over it and will the guests get out of the battle? Ride this and find out and the ride will feature animatronic pirates and sea creatures on the ride like the animals on calico river rapids at knott's berry farm and the queue is in blackbeard bay barge company
This thing is still insanely smooth and beautiful for how old it is. Great job taking care of it Carowinds!

well not anymore this thing was glass smooth in 2023 but now has a nasty rattle in every valley especially in the batwing and going into the 0 g roll

This is a great coaster. I'm proud to be a coaster enthusiast and convince my family to go here. Very intense coaster and happy birthday.
This was the first year my 9 year old son was brave enough to ride the After Burn, now it's his favorite ride!
