  • We start our big hike to Jade Mountain in Taiwan. This is the highest peak in North East Asia and is higher than Japan's Mount Fuji! Watch us collect our permits and make our way to Paiyun Lodge. This is a two day hike and was quite challenging since we got hit with altitude sickness near the top. Please like and subscribe for new travel and lifestyle videos every Sunday!

@Dadum Was rough but also rewarding. We felt much better the next day after resting at the lodge 😄

You have all my sympathy! I backpacked with my dad for the first time (and last time) at Jade Mountain when I was in high school maybe 20 years ago. We didn’t stop at the lodge though but went past to another ridge line? And camped at a smaller very rough shelter. I did well up to maybe an hour past the lodge then the altitude sickness hit me. I probably had to stop and rest every 10 feet and threw up once or twice. Then the next day we went back and over the peak to the weather station where we stayed again for a night. And finally back over the peak and down the mountain. I think the altitude sickness faded by the second day but it was so rough.
While I liked the hike to the lodge and when I was going back down the mountain, that was honestly too rough of a hike for me.

@yfllll Wow thanks for sharing. The altitude really makes it a rougher hike and you do need to take it easy and listen to your body. Altitude sickness should not be taken lightly! 😅
