Those rpm’s are just about right given a 1.6 liter 4 cylinder 5 speed. Cheap cars have little sound deadening. Also 30 mpg is just about right. You will never find a 6 speed manual econobox from 2009, it does not exist. You should definitely buy the manual, so you can best utilize that small engine, it will be lighter, faster, stronger and theft proof. Basically, everything this guy says is incorrect. The only real downside to these cars is crash safety and some road noise.
The automatic version gets 45 mpg Highway. And revs half as high. And the Hyundai accent actually has one of the best crash test safety ratings of all compact cars. So you my friend are incorrect. No engine should be revving that high for long distances of travel.
@@badass1g The automatic version doesn't get 45mpg. Probably closer to low 30's in real life. I have a 2010 Hyundai Accent Blue Hatchback. I've gotten 36/37mpg as the max on the car, going about 80 down the highway. There's nothing bad about the RPM's being roughly 3000~ during highway driving, the engine only makes 110hp, the engineers designed it with this in mind. I had considered that it may be nice to have a 6th gear in my car, but, the engine may not actually be more fuel efficient at lower RPMs and higher speeds due to the lower torque (It's called a power band). I have a friend who also has one too, same thing, no issues. One has 163k on it, and the other has 161k. I've hit the redline in 2nd and 3rd gear plenty of times, and the car has never complained once.
Yeah, and it's so noisy in the cabin (my exhaust manifold leak does not help). So I ride between 56 and 59 mph most of the time. I do get over 34mpg though, higher in the summer
Just missing the 6th gear but I love my little bucket normally cruise 80-85 get around 33mpg. It does rev up high but doesn't feel stressed. And what ever gearing it has keeps it from bogging down on inclines
It’s def lower rpm then the manual. Either way they goofed up. Lol the 2012 and newer body style accents have much Improved. I actually own a 2014 and 2018 as I speak lol. Love these cars!
My 2007 Accent 1.4 III MC HB, liquefied petroleum gas with valve saver kit, did 204431 miles. A lot over 4000 rpm. It sounded great at 4700 rpm until the timing belt snapped. RIP buddy... A manual is always better than automatic.
Thank you.!..... Glad I scrolled down more and found this video man. An old Fox I once had was like that. Volkswagen had a 4 gear manual box design on these ..... Rev fest anywhere I went. Like you said, you feel for the engine. Ironically my first car was Hyundai's first model. Pony.!.... A joke really.! It will remain my last Hyundai 😂 I'll hunt down another Civic I guess .....
the poor man's miata because of its low weight. also, due to its gearing, it has a surprisingly good 0-30 time which is fun for city driving.
Yea it was zippy around town
@@robertulrich3964 I would take that hyubdsi over the miata
For several reasons

I'm feeling the same 😂 Just bought this thing to go to work i'm doing 75mi per day with it all highway crusing 75mph. Hope it last 4 years 😂
All I can say is make sure your oil is in good condition and topped off at all times to keep your chances better with the high revving 😅
@@badass1g I'm taking good care of it 😎
@@kevlav10 mine did 412 000 kms and I drove it yo the junk yard
I’ve got a 2015 Rio. I often get 40-45 mpg

I didn’t have the patience to drive that slow hehe people would honk at me on the freeway if I did that.

The automatic also rides around 3000RPM at highway speeds from my experience. Definitely not designed for efficiency at highway speeds

Don’t really know much about cars what you think about getting one 163k miles I see one in my area for 2,900 …I just want a work car
You can find a better deal. Keep looking 👍

Hard to save the valves when the timing belt snaps 💔. Why not just slap a new head on and keep it going?
@@badass1g There is a moment you should stop putting money in an old car.

It's a small engine
It's peek torque is 4000 rpm
Has to Rev to get power.....but yes a 6 speed with better overdrive would be nice on the flat grades
Hey genius its a hyundai?
Is that a statement or a question my genius friend?!
under powered, That's why ✌✌
It's because USA dont have the best version of this accent. The 1.5 CRDI vgt turbo diesel.
Amen!
