The one who suggested this song and this band is the real MVP. Rhapsody of Fire is one of the pioneers in symphonic metal (the album where comes this song was released in 1998), and Fabio Lione is one of the most versatile vocalists in metal. You could take a look on their other classic Dawn of Víctory or the wonderful The Magic of the wizard's Rhyme where they had the honour of receiving the only and one Sir Cristopher Lee as guest vocalist.
Yay, Rhapsody. One of the older symphonic power metal bands. Many bands were able to create an album that can be tied together by a single theme or a narrativ, but not as many can do it over multiple albums - Rhapsody is one of those that can pull it off. The fantasy saga, this band came up with, spanned over five albums. You mentioned The Lord of the Rings and so I suppose you might have watched the movies. Do you remember Saruman? Well, he was played by Christopher Lee with his booming deep voice. You could say, he was the fan of this band and was actually featured on one of their albums. There is, actually, a music video in which Christopher Lee sings together with Fabio Lione (the singer whose voice you heard in this song) and they are surrounded by an orchestra.
es una de las canciones más hermosas y espectaculares que compuso la banda... pero no es solo la unica... tienen una larga lista de maravillas musicales
YAY! Thanks for doing this, I've always loved Rhapsody, one of the founders you could say of Symphonic metal. Technically, the intro is a separate song called "Epicus Furor", these two songs are the first two on the "Symphony of Enchanted Lands" album. Rhapsody, who later changed name to Rhapsody of Fire, often had an intro like this on their albums. They created two sagas in this LOTR inspired fantasy world they created, each spanning 4-5 albums. Sadly, they split in two halves 2012, one part remains as Rhapsody of Fire, the other became "Luca Turillis Rhapsody". All of their music is like this, very complex, very inspired by classical music (they even include snippets of classical pieces in some songs) and phenomenal vocal arrangements. Also on each album the final song tends to be a monumental song of over 10 minutes. Later in their career, they called their music "Cinematic metal", which is a very appropriate name for it I think! In my mind, Luca Turilli is a composer genius none the less than Tuomas Holopainen. Further suggestions would be "Unholy Warcry", or as stated already "Magic of the Wizards Dream" with Christopher Lee! Rhapsody of Fire released an album last year, and it is OK, but it does not have the quality of what they did before the split in 2012. There is only one of the original members left in that band and they do miss the touch that Luca Turilli added.
Funny thing sabout this song, the South Korean baseball team Doosan Bears use it as a stadium song and it sounds incredible when the crowd sings it, it's worth checking out!
Luca Turilli - Black Dragon would be another great choice to react, not to cheesy, over the top, but more compact arrangement, the former guitarist/founder of Rhapsody.
Uma das melhores músicas do Rhapsody. Mano, lembro quando fui no show que nem consegui cantar a música pq eu tava chorando feito um bebê. 😫😫 Queria ver ela reagindo "wings of Destiny".
Symphonic metal meets a story of fantasy & adventure. Great reaction. Great song choice. On occasions, saying less is saying more. Loved it. I suppose I’ll have to make you another medal…lol. Seriously, great post.
This is the first reaction to Rhapsody i've ever seen! Wow! What a delightful reaction indeed 😍 They've had so many great pieces composed - Legendary Tales, Symphony of Enchanted Lands, Dawn of Victory and Power of The Dragonflame are the first great albums come to my mind. You can always feel that Italian classical vibes in their tunes. Also King of The Nordic Twilight by the band's founder and guitarist Luca Turilli is an astonishing work that should be checked out. When it comes to symphonic power metal, Rhapsody is among the greatest bands of the genre 🤟
Finally! Someone who does a proper reaction including the intro as well 😁. May I recommend to do a similar reaction with Rhapsody - Lux Triumphans + Dawn Of Victory (intro and song together)? :)
Great Reaction 😁😍 I loved Rhapsody for so long. When Tarja left nightwish i turned my back to them and rhapsody became my favorite band. There is a version of this song with great cinematics from world of warcraft but sadly without the intro. Thank you very much for your reaction
The 3 first albums are a trilogy from the same history. Every song its a part from thar story. Also. Listen "nigthfall in the middle earth" of blind guardian. All the album its about the silmarilion, and its an amazing album
1999 first time i heard rhapsody on their first album legendary tales. I still remember my first reaction as if it was yesterday i wish to experience that feeling again of how amazing this was. A huge impact. Rhapsody only not that of fire legal crap they had to embrace after. To me they will always be RHAPSODY
Check out the chorus of this old russian pop song "gazmanov esaul". It was released much earlier than Emeral Sword but the chorus is almost equal melody-wise🙂
I'm so glad that you experimented this! My comment arrives two years after this video was published, yet I'd like to tell you that the feeling that you are describing could be much more intense if you would follow the complete Saga composed by the five first albums of Rhapsody, in fact it is 'The Emerald Sword Saga'. This song is deeply enshrined in my heart and everytime I see a person like you reactioning for the first time and then speaking about it, it is like a blessing to see and hear! Much love to you, enjoy Rhapsody, it has been truly unique!
One of the best power metal songs...Rhapsody, its interpretation is so sublime. Fabio Lione's voice is iconic and gives epicness to the song. The guitar solo the best of the best
Hey Sabina. When I was in Australia in the Year 2000 this album was released 18 month before. Then I used a Minidisc Walkman and had the first two albums on repeat most of the day. especially "Emerald Sword" with all the Symphonic and Baroc background sound overlayed with power metal was mind blowing to me. As you say all the layers of music crashing down with such a speed! I still love it to this day. If you like to hear a Masterpiece in my opinion then listen to : Gargoyles Angels of Darkness from the Album "The Power Of The Dragonflame". Enjoy that spanish Vibe in the beginning. thank you so much for this reaction. brought back lots of memories.
The first time I ever heard this song was in a demo video for Tribes 2 (who remembers Tribes 2?) and Emerald Sword was the track. So they won two ways: I got into Rhapsody with a sickness, and I played YEARS of Tribes 2 till it fizzled out. We need more Tribes and more Rhapsody.
Oh my,, you've done this one? One of ma fav! Plus there is fantastic cover of this song, done by E Hyuk. He's South Korean singer and he does a lot of covers for truely amazing songs like this one, Emerald Sword
"How can they time it and keep it up?!" That's what she said! 😆 Sorry, immature, yes, but it was RIGHT THERE. I couldn't resist. I got to see these guys play this live twice and imagine this with every single person in the building 100 percent engaged singing every word of the song at the top of their lungs as passionately as they can. Yeah, that's some next level goosebumps stuff.
I read The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings back in the 70’s and thought to myself that they would make good movies but back then I wondered how could they possibly make them and do them justice. Well add a few years and with the advancement of technology it’s made it all possible. I too enjoy this genre and really liked this piece. Good suggestion. ❤️🤘🎸🇦🇺
Surprised this is what you were recommended based on the information given. My first thought would have been the entire Nightfall In Middle Earth album by Blind Guardian. Which is an absolute masterpiece of storytelling AND music. Would recommend even if you're not going to react to it. Too good to pass. (And yes it is based on Lord of the Rings).
If you haven’t dived further into this band, I have some recommendations. While this song is hands down the best, Queen of the Dark Horizons is another epic piece you can enjoy without being confused by the plot of the saga. Their best album, by far, is Symphony of the Enchanted Lands 2. If you like the Hobbit then you’ll really enjoy that one since Christopher Lee (Saruman) provided a lot of narration for the album.
How curious, just in the Blind Guardian reaction I left a sugestion for the live version in Montreal where singer Fabio Lione gives the crowd a vocal warm-up before this song. Rhapsody are an immensely impessive band, for the virtuosity, for the dedication it took to lay out a saga over 10 or eleven albums that make a narrative whole, the 20 minute gorgeous pieces that close the albums... Glad you liked Fabio Lione so much, Sabina. He's just as capable of singing something slow and sentimental, as in Il canto del vento. ua-cam.com/video/6NQ5rwwxxGY/v-deo.html If you want to see what all these musicians minus one are up to these days, check out Zero Gravity, Turilli/ Lione Rhapsody. ua-cam.com/video/1-DlF1H9Vro/v-deo.html
fun fact: the drums in the first and second album (the one u heard was from the 2nd) are electronic computer keyboard drums, although the album photos features a drummer, but he joined the band after the recordings, but the first album doesn't have any drummer at all in the photos
I love Rhapsody, but if you want some musics about The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, you need to hear Blind Guardian. They even has a song called The Bard Song - The Hobbit. Its another amazing powermetal band.
don't know if you listen to other bands from different countries but saurom/saurom lamderth is one of my favorite top bands from spain, it is in spanish but their first few albums were all LOTR based!
Fabio Lione one of the best singers in the world!!!, please react more of this band. I recommend one called The Last Winged Unicorn or Lamento eroico where you will hear the great vocal power of Fabio.
Every time I hear that song I promise myself not to sing Meanwhile every time I stand up with hand rising high grasping imaginary sword and: 🎶FOR THE KING, FOR THE LAND, FOR THE MOUNTAINS....🎶
Now, try the song Orphan of Life by Adrian Benegas feat Herbie Langhans and Sascha Paeth. Its a TRUE BANGER too. Trust me, as a symphonic metal fan, you will love it
Nice reaction! As good as Rhapsody's version is, you should do a reaction to Dan Vasc's cover and also react to Dawn of Victory by Dan, with guest vocals by Fabio Lione, who was lead singer of Rhapsody.
Did you ever reacted to Tina S (guitar) or Junna (drums) (2 very young ladies, who play Dragonforce - Trough fire and flames as a cover)? If not this is something else. i personaly suggest to watch these 2 one by one, but there is a video with both of them ua-cam.com/video/ikAcH5U0r4c/v-deo.html .These 2 ladies are totaly worth it for getting an award for pure talent on a young age.
Please give us a sign, when you are ready for a complete different but spiritual experience, which will pull off your socks. Try the first metal in human history : Heilung with the song "In Majdian". Would love to see your reaction on that.
It's so great you chose to listen to Epicus Furor + Emerald Sword. Many people are shocked by the song beginning so swiftly (and I think Rhapsody should not have split them at all to begin with).

Eternal Glory and Symphony of Enchanted lands is also fantastic.
Actually, just listen to the entire Symphony of Enchanted lands album, lol.
YES! Epic, over-the-top,beautiful, cheesy, fantasy themed power metal! We love it! :D
Yes!!!
It couldn't be cheesy if you're nerd enough!!
My first metal band ❤️ I saw them live with Fabio Lione. He is one of the best singer in the world, and he is a lovely person too.
È vero, abita accanto a casa mia xD
Rhapsody is one of the few rare bands I can enjoy 100% of their songs. There's not even only one bad song.
es verdad, todas , pero todas son excelentes canciones. puedo disfrutar todos los disco de principio a fin
Im glad there is someone that calls them RHAPSODY as it should.

The magic of the wizard's dream
They actually wanted to do film-scores! 😊
I saw them live a month ago. It was beautiful.
It is a saga spanning over 4.5 albums it's simply amazing

And by my opinion the voice, of Fabio Lione too.......the new Singer, Giacomo Voli is great.....but for Rhapsody music, Lione is the top
Metal and classic music in a perfect ARMONY. This band is EPIC, Great reaction!
Funny thing sabout this song, the South Korean baseball team Doosan Bears use it as a stadium song and it sounds incredible when the crowd sings it, it's worth checking out!
symphonic powermetal has got to be one of the most epic genres of metal ever to grace my ears, idk about anyone else but i absolutely adore it

Uma das melhores músicas do Rhapsody. Mano, lembro quando fui no show que nem consegui cantar a música pq eu tava chorando feito um bebê. 😫😫 Queria ver ela reagindo "wings of Destiny".
Hola., Sabina. Te sigo desde Argentina 🇦🇷. Tuve la suerte de ver dos veces a Rhapsody. Una super banda que suena espectacular. Sos preciosa. 😁👍
Symphonic metal meets a story of fantasy & adventure. Great reaction. Great song choice. On occasions, saying less is saying more. Loved it. I suppose I’ll have to make you another medal…lol. Seriously, great post.

There's an awesome live version (In Quebec) of this. Not sure if I ever saw an audience enjoying their selves as much at a gig.
Finally! Someone who does a proper reaction including the intro as well 😁. May I recommend to do a similar reaction with Rhapsody - Lux Triumphans + Dawn Of Victory (intro and song together)? :)
i hear this song in 1997 bloow my mind i have luck to see this band very times live in argentina
Love the hair, very fitting for Rhapsody, something I did not expect on your channel hah. I second the person below who suggested Unleash the Archers!
I'm full of surprises! ❤😂
The best epic chorus ever!!
Great Reaction 😁😍 I loved Rhapsody for so long.

I see Rhapsody, I click and watch the video instantly!
Flames of Revenge has always been my fav Rhapsody song
