Today we celebrate female contemporary painting! Feel free to discover the complete top 20 here: www.contemporaryartissue.com/top-20-most-famous-female-painters-today/ Perrier was a bit camera shy today and especially very exhausted from a long summer walk-I guess she has been eating too many treats throughout the winter... Greetings from us both! Chat soon

You know you can stop pandering. We get that there are female painters. You won't get into any trouble by not titling it female painters. Cancel culture is pretty much over.

@@edwardpritchardpemberton4998 Hi Edward, I don't see the issue here. We create top lists based on artistic disciplines, nationality, subject matter, specific genres, gender, and various cross-sections to encounter interesting common threads and trends in art today. So, titled it female painters is kind of crucial, as it is the topic of this survey...

What a great recital! Thank you for sharing! Eisenman is included in our top 20 and sadly Lassnig was not eligible for this list due to her passing in 2014-but definitely worth to be included in this list-as is the case for, for instance, Alice Neel. Thank you for tuning in!

I agree 1000%! I kept waiting for her to appear, yet I feel this entire list should be deemed null and void with her exclusion. Any authority on art with even the slightest semblance of insight and knowledge would clearly include her in almost top 10 list of all current artists, not just those identified as female. This was a MAJOR blunder and oversight by this channel!

So glad Bridget Riley is up there. I had the huge pleasure of meeting her when she agreed to exhibit at the small artist led gallery where I worked. Our colleagues in the big galleries were furious that she chose to show with us over them! She stayed for several days and completely engaged not just with the show but with the community of artists we were a part of, visiting their studios, socialising and even promoting the work of one of their number. Her interest came from her own roots in the artist led movements in London in the 60s. Interestingly she really dislikes the ‘Op Art’ label and sees her practice as deeply grounded in the classical canon. A great artist and a lovely person.

Hi Chris, thank you for tuning in, as always. What a great story once more-as a real artist, she apparently isn't shy to go against the grain. Interesting on the Op Art label-which in my opinion is doing her a bit short as well. Her early works are most definitely Op Art our sang, however she's more versatile than the definition of this movement for sure. Would love to meet her as well and have a chat about it all. Maybe one day! Cheers

Dear Treezy, the pleasure is all mine-so thank you for tuning in. I have indeed been considering taking on embroidery as a contemporary art form, especially when considering its importance in the past decade or two in the art world-so a great suggestion! When it comes contemporary African art; another great topic. We created a top list of the most famous African painters. However, almost all of them reside and work in the major art cities of the world. So a tricky topic, but definitely interesting to approach it from a different angle.

Hello! I wanted to first, thank you for all these videos, apart from learning a lot, I feel like there is an actual chance to be able to work as a full time artist thanks to the detailed instructions, information and resources in your videos.
Secondly, I’d like to request a video, if I may… recently I discovered the concepts of multidisciplinary, multimedia and trans disciplinary artists and I was a bit confused with the terms and how they differ… I would be very grateful if you could explain these terms in a video and how they might relate to video art.
Personally, in my art development I’ve reached a point where I realized that being interested and excited about mixing disciplines like animation, traditional and digital art could be a path to follow, prior to watching your videos I thought I had to narrow it down to one medium and stick to it, but that wasn’t working…
Thank you again for all of this extremely valuable information, I really appreciate it ❤

Well a breath of fresh air and long time coming! Let’s not disparage art history for it’s sins. Rather rejoice if we can however bitter sweet. What is to come could not have come before. The world wasn’t ready for it. It is now and for me as a man it will be wonderful to see women. That art reveals so much if not everything. It could be an opening in the fence that surrounds the feminine mysticism. Contemporary art is not hindered by social pretext that back in the day undermined even male artist. Art elucidates as no other discourse can. The glee of young boys walking through museums instantly understanding their female counterparts better. They may smile and laugh but too, see the import the connection to them that women seeks. That if she can achieve it she can change our thinking toward her. That would benefit everyone.

Yayoi Kusa is certainly a genius and similar to Vincent Van Gogh in painting her hallucinations. I mean it seems to me she is in touch with something or is it something is in touch with her? At any rate as was with Vincent such connections can drive one crazy. It must be terribly overwhelming to be involved with something such as that.

Yes indeed, it is hard to grasp and understand this fully of course. Yes, it has given us greatness in art-with Kusama and Van Gogh. Art is often the outlet or canvas (literally) for humanity's mysteries.

Miriam Cahn embodies the things expressed in my earlier post here. I am taking note the younger generation of women artist don’t seek to inform as she. That the personal way is the most effective i.e., That our stories are all we have. That reality is us referencing us. That without memory to inform us we are not us. The conversation is with oneself for no one else can find our answer. Ms Cahn is my choice of all the others. She refuses male dominated esthetic/themes of motifs, styles, color applications. If women wants to show better, better then what? A testosterone driven folly. I commend Ms Cahn’s face here. This women! Her gut strong! Her mind firm! Her story before death. That we know her existence and the meaning it had for her and us if we are willing to accept it. Her will to power has nothing to do with feminism. That is not her battle. Her battle is with herself same with all great artist. Male or female. Love the honesty. One that most men are incapable of!
