I saw them do this live, I think at the Whisky A-Go go, probably 1979 or 80. They had the coolest stage show for every song. In this one, they formed a line along the front of the stage, facing the audience, wearing long trenchcoats, and super creepy semi-transparent masks that had paint or wax dripped on them.
@@BobEmrich I think Danny also wrote a song parody before Al did. “California Girls” or Chedrania Girls as it was originally called. It changes the lyrics and makes it about alien girls.
I finally found an oingo boingo comment section that didnt have you in it. It was in the soundtrack for Tony hawks american wasteland. Apparently it has who do you want to be today in it as like track 33 or something like that. I think that was the first one i had found. Usually you're in them it was almost surreal
@@bringme1kscrubscribers10 Have you found a Danny Elfman interview I haven’t commented on? I just discovered one where he sort of revealed that he’s a closeted amateur astrophysicist on top of being an amateur radiation biologist... apparently his brain is too defective to read music faster than he can write it but he has the mathematics of the singularity of a black hole committed to memory and he put it in a score improvisation...
THANK U for all your Mystic Knights uploads. Making rips ;) I'd love to get a collection of rare Mystic Knights recordings in the best quality floating around - can somebody DM me and point me to a link or I'll pay you for your troubles if you dropbox (or otherwise) their collection 4 me. Thanks in advance. Wish they'd release some live and studio in high quality.
@mannsam63 Search for the Yiddish Charleston from Forbidden Zone. That's Richard. Other than that, I don't know if he sang in the Mystic Knights. All the recordings I find of theirs, Danny sings lead, unless the lead is a woman, or the whole group sings ensemble. But perhaps those are the only recordings made available?
Both! Danny and Richard Elfman formed the Mystic Knights back in the 70's as a performance art troupe. Danny then split off the band and shortened the name to Oingo Boingo, then later to just Boingo after a couple of lineup changes. The essential weirdness is the same, though. And knowing another Elfman, I can say that insanity runs in the family!
I don't care that this was made in the 70s, this deserves to be in Fallout.
Indie Devs 9001
agreed
YES YES YES
I was going to comment the exact same thing!

Me too! Crazy concert!
so jealous dude
Wtf lucky😭💔
Goddamn. So freaking good. Met Danny Elfman one time and is still the highlight of my life. What a cool dude.
Try the Forbidden Boingo torrent. That's the free-share album of unreleased Oingo Boingo songs.
Great track and can hear it's influence on Cardiacs and Mr Bungle.
Absolutely, good call
true although you could make the argument that essentially any band ever had an influence on mike patton if youre good at talking out your ass haha
They won the freaking gong show! Who cant love them?
This sounds like something Weird Al would write. It reminds me of "Pancreas" for some reason.
i would not be surprised if Al got some of his songwriting inspiration from Mystic Knights since the timelines match up very well

I was just thinking the same, really reminds me of them!!
This should have been the first song on mtv

Devious idea for this song

Really catchy
O Love Dany Elfman
Why does this sound so clear? Can you upload the album you got this from?
Duck and Cover!
Did Richard Elfman sing? Did he sound anything like Danny?
It's Danny singing.
So would you say this is a separate band from the oingo boingo? Or is it the same?
