Hey James, I found your channel a few days ago and it's exactly what I needed. You are first person that really got me hooked on learning digital art. Some of the works are still way to complex for me (I started learning a week ago, never painted in my life before), but I just realized you have playlists with tons of great "simpler" (by that I mean more specific, focused on one aspect) tutorials too. Right now I'm starting the How to draw skies series. Thank you for awesome tutorials and resources!
I jumped at this one! I’ve drawn a lot of your paintings (thank you, by the way, for making me look good - all the family are amazed by the results from following along with you!) but I’ve been trying lately to get my head around water and waves on my iPad and found it hard. Perfect timing with this one! Lots more please! 👍
Some days I really wish Procreate had decimal points instead of trying to guess what side of 2% you’re on when adjusting a brush’s size. It would be a great addition to the next Procreate update.
Thanks for doing these! I've really started to understand why you're doing thing you're doing as opposed to just copying it with no insight as to why. You've got a great approach that allows the whole thing to feel really low-stakes, but still come out with great education outcomes. It's amazing how something that looks like blocky garbage is only a few highlights away from looking "right" and by following your work, I'm starting to get a sense of what is missing from where. Cheers!
Thank you so much for this tutorial, I learned so much and I surprise myself with a nice result I would of never thought I could draw that ! I'm going to do other tutorials very well explained
I'm also new to digital art and still feeling a bit intimidated by the intricate combination of layers, colours, opacity, brushes and sizes. I can't imagine ever being able to get these combinations right without guidance. But I've been able to get my use of graphite, with different hardness and softness, to a point where I know instinctively what to use and how to use it, so maybe I can get to a similar point with digital art - but there's always the added complication of colour!. I'm going to follow Maciej's example and start with the "how to draw skies" series. thanks again for a fascinating tutorial.
Hi James. I tried and replicated your drawing of the crashing waves step by step on an ipad 9 . However the end result was rather blurry. Anyway your channel is by far the most helpful for those who want to learn how to draw in procreate. Thanks for your effort.
Lovin' your tutorials! This one totally got away on me! LOL Got lost in the layers. Also I'm following along in Krita so I have to adjust some things but learning a lot! Thanks for putting in the time to make these.
I ❤️❤️❤️ this one, James!! I didn’t get to the mountains one yet, but I’m going to skip over and this is my next one. And I will definitely add my birds … Maybe a pelican skimming the wave. Can’t wait.
Hi James, I have just started doing the “Crashing sea wave on beach” tutorial and I’m finding the colour palette ( both if I download the lot or put the codes in one by one) comes out way way different to your colours. For example the sky seems overly grey, and more green than blue. I did the usual checks of the saturation, opacity, and my iPad itself, but I can’t find the cause. Do you happen to know why this might be happening? I don’t seem to have this problem with other UA-cam tutorials. Thank you 😊
I'm sure you get this a lot, but my Soft Brush doesn't seem to behave the same way yours does when using the pencil. Are you using hte default settings or did you mess with it a bit to get the awesome results you're showing?
my downloaded color palette doesn't match your palette that I see on my computer. I am doing the tutorial on the ipad and watching it on my computer. Also, the color disc has a pink tone on the white side no matter what color use such as a blue with no red in it. I wonder if I inadvertently changed a setting. Any thoughts? Thank you!
Hello James just subbed a few days ago, fantastic channel. Was wondering is it advised to use a screen protect if so any recommendations. Also what pressure sensitivity do you use. Is it advised to keep it as low as possible to protect the screen. Many thanks if you reply.👍
frequently even with the same brush your strokes are thinner and have more pointy tapers on the end than I can manage. Is this likely a pressure thing or a speed of movement thing or something completely different? This is the third of these I've done, so I'm still new, but enthusiastic
Hi James love the channel, however have tried several times to subscribe through Patreon and it will not accept payment. Any ideas as I want to download your colour palette for the crashing waves tutorial?
Blimey that's good James. Have you done this from a reference picture or do you just have a feel for what colours you'll need? If the latter, is that due to lots of practice in painting the sea or just some innate skill you've got? Thanks, I enjoy these. I've always struggled getting a eye for colour it feels so I'm looking into it a bit more
Hello is it just me or are the color codes different in the description than the file that was provided? For some reason my colors on my iPad just look slightly different Than yours
I downloaded the exact colors but didn’t get close to the results at all, the colors in the video seem much lighter than the ones I see on my screen, how do I fix that?
Boor, damn.. it´s just too heavy.. I can´t.. Your painting is perfect and I wanted to try the waves, but I can´t. I start and I stop for weeks, then I start again and I stop again for days.. Or.. you are incredible with your artworks! Just awesome!
@@JamesJulier-Artist I tell you what James, it would be great when you decide to do so. Even if you just done one video to each of your social media platforms. I'm sure that each one would soar through the roof with ratings and those videos would stand the test of time. James, now go out and get yourself all dolled up and make one video showing you in it. :-) Have a great day! -Melvin - Monday, March 28, 2022 - 10:05 AM Mountain Time - Colorado Springs, Colorado
Hi James. I love your tutorials. I've just started this one and downloaded your palette but the colours look a lot more dull on my screen. I've tried 3 files - 1 CMYK, 1 RGB and 1 Display P3 but all 3 are very dull in colour. Do you know why this would be?

Your response was exactly what I would have written. I’ve been doing these for years now as well. thank you, James!
The sea and dynamic waves are so cool. I like your detailed explanation.👍

You are brilliant! This is so amazing, just love it.😃
Thank you 😊

It’s probably to do with pressure, I press on very lightly
amazing

These tutorials are really helpful. Hope it's not to bothersome of a request if you could do a water tutorial with no waves and movement?
I’m always open to ideas!
Draw the Apollo moon landing. I think the moon would be a good surface with texture

I have been using a paperlike but it’s expensive and I’m going to try an ESR one next
Lovely
Thank you 🙏
Amazing tutorials. I feel like my brush sizes look a lot different than yours. Is there a setting for brush sizes?
Check you are using the default a4 canvas which is 297mm by 210mm at 300dpi otherwise everything will look different
frequently even with the same brush your strokes are thinner and have more pointy tapers on the end than I can manage. Is this likely a pressure thing or a speed of movement thing or something completely different?

Thank you I always have references even if I often stray from them. I never copy the details, just colours etc
Hello is it just me or are the color codes different in the description than the file that was provided? For some reason my colors on my iPad just look slightly different Than yours
The codes are the same as the file, however my camera makes my iPad colours look different
That's insane!💫🌊
Sorry quick question, is shadow on edges bothering you while zooming in and draw? Is it dealbreaker?
I literally do not notice it at all, even a little bit.
@@JamesJulier-Artist Thank you🙏

The camera shifts the colours a little, but if you look at the picture at the end the colours will match that
My color pallet looks darker I’m not sure if that normal
Boor, damn.. it´s just too heavy.. I can´t.. Your painting is perfect and I wanted to try the waves, but I can´t. I start and I stop for weeks, then I start again and I stop again for days.. Or.. you are incredible with your artworks! Just awesome!

Lol hmm probably not…we’ll see

That’s normal as my iPhone camera usually oversaturates the look of the colours

Could you show tutorial painting anime background? I just want to know how process is.
My style is more photo real not anime sorry
Tried again, failed again but with slight improvements.
Can you draw human face? Or anime face?
It isn’t my preferred subject
holy fuck dude. wow!!
Ha thank you 😊
