We are watching what strong leadership can accomplish. Every attempt was made to end this war even though Israel was attacked first and there was no cooperation on the part of the attacker. Because of this there was nothing left but to defend themselves and I’m impressed at how precise and quickly Israel accomplished this and continues to get results. I can’t help but wonder what is next for them. It’s clear Israel doesn’t need approval or assistance from the US in this matter. Unfortunately, with our current administration, the US could use their guidance with many of our problems. I’m embarrassed and ashamed how the US has treated Israel during this time. We also lost American lives and showed no concern over it.

Special forces going into Beirut, specifically the Dahieh (a Hezbollah strong hold) and an underground bunker, would have most likely ended with many more civilian death, caught in the cross fire (e.g., the hostage release in Gaza), and with a very low chances of actually being successful. The situation with Bin-Laden residing overground, in a relatively sparsely built area.
