Glad you liked it Danielle, and thanks for being so active on the channel :) Conceptually, having never used kombucha leather before, I thought the translucent properties would allow for a cool light penetration effect like the ones seen in sunglasses. However I found that the leather dries in a way that is 'smokey' and blurs the translucency, making it only possible to see spurts of light here and there. That being said, the piece takes on a meaning of 'seeing things through naturally created lenses' which goes back to the sustainability conscious mindset to spark a conversation for new ways of doing old things. I wish it were actually practical, but it makes for a good reminder to test the properties of the textiles through experimentation before creating practical and refined pieces.

Could you try to put some pin holes all over the lens so there is an approximate visibility like the old pinhole cameras...? They are super cool 😉
