    Fantastic Earthworks tutorial.
    Thank you, just started with this system in late 2018, lots to learn.

    Some says that you don’t know how to operate, some says that you are the best operator, Me, I say that your video are very good and fun to eatch

    I will say that computers and 3D systems are for good operators to complete their skill. As operator you have to grade by hand like computer. Maybe slower but with the same perfection. Good job @Dirt Ninja

    I thought you had track control on your joysticks

    Gotta be harsh on your swing motor... since it's the action trying to do the cut.. but it looked like a sandy material so maybe no problem.. cheers man

      You just have to be smart about it. I loosen all the material first when digging like this just by pushing the teeth into the ground. You definitely dont want to try and full on dig sideways.

      @@DirtNinja ... right on.. and I do understand that you were also showing a cool aspect of the Trimble system... cheers

    I got the earthworks system in 3d now on my liebherr wheeled excavator. Tried the measure mode out today.. very handy indeed! Can you make in field designs with the 2d?

      Yes you can, you are just limited to your reach length.

    Question time. Ever try a mecalac? Where's your mini ex?

    • @DirtNinja
      @DirtNinja  5 років тому

      I have sat in one but never tried it. The mini belongs to my parents and it almost never gets used in the winter because it cant get through the frost.

    Does your excavator have Joystick steering? I'm not sure if that option is available on the 160 size machine.

    • @DirtNinja
      @DirtNinja  5 років тому

      Yes it does. Im still not 100% used to it yet so I dont use it when im in a tight spot. You cant really see from the video but Im working under electric wires

      @@DirtNinja Yeah I could see the poles, looked likr the wires were right over where you were trying to dig. I noticed you kept looking up.

    Personal Opinion here... Everyone’s entitled to their own opinions
    I really don’t understand the point in all this GPS and swivel hitch stuff. I drive a 130 Hitachi and I can grade roads and dig sewer tracks down hills no problemo. But as I say: Each to their own opinion... I suppose you could say I’m behind the times 🤷‍♂️

      You sound like the guys who hate V plows haha. Always keep an open mind when it comes to new things. We started using Trimble devices a couple of years ago and it saves hundreds of hours on our large commercial jobs. It's all money in the pocket.

    Trimble and CAT 🤦🏼‍♂️ Komatsu/TOPCON has a far better system. Cool video though

    • @petecoutts9935
      @petecoutts9935 5 років тому

      ...Topcon doesn't even have this mode, lol. You can put Trimble on Komatsu, or anything else as well.

    • @Greyhorse15
      @Greyhorse15 5 років тому

      Pete Coutts ummm yeah they do been using Topcon for a long time plus the new update has more features and Trimble/CAT don’t have semi-automatics

    • @petecoutts9935
      @petecoutts9935 5 років тому

      @@Greyhorse15not this exact same mode tho :) I've used them all (my job is to purchase / maintain these systems at a company with 1000+ machines). Unfortunately like most Topcon users you've probably be lied too by your dealer, not your fault! Both Cat and Trimble have had Excavator Automatics for multiple years. Full Autos too, not the "semi" system that Komatsu does, eg you can actually use the full range of the stick and front linkage, and push back in auto, use tilt autos, etc, etc... Trimble also does aftermarket Excavator Automatics on Cat machines that Cat doesn't do at the factory, AS WELL AS Komatsu, John Deere, Hitachi, Komatsu, Link Belt, Volvo, Sumitomo, list goes on. Search UA-cam for "Trimble Excavator Automatics" - and if you ever get a chance to use one, I guarantee you you'll hate going back to the Komatsu.

      Pete Coutts so many things wrong with Trimble like not being able to alter an elevation of a control point on the hand held...Maybe I just didn’t have the latest and greatest from Trimble a few months ago...Topcon is still a better system in my opinion.

    • @petecoutts9935

      @@Greyhorse15 like most systems they're only as good as the dealer that supports them and the training you've had. That being said, Trimble automatics out performs Topcon any day of the week in every condition. Definitely have a go on a machine that has their autos if you get the chance.
