I agree the reduced image resolution of the photos, is a head scratcher. It takes the fun out of the camera shooting a panorama and being able to zoom in to see more detail.
Yes indeed, it's very strange. I guess they thought that the Pockets aren't really for photos anyway as people will use phones. Still it feels a bit of a backward step..
Thanks for all your videos about the Pocket 2 and 3, they helped me make my decision to buy a new camera. I looked at both the Pocket 2 and 3 in a store recently and actually decided to get the 2 even though it is a much older model because it is smaller and more discreet. I live and make walking videos mainly in a third world country and not really comfortable using a new iPhone on a gimbal in many areas. For me the Pocket 3, especially with the screen set horizontally, loses the advantage of being discreet, imo it is not much different from carrying a phone on a gimbal around. While I am sure that the 3 is a better video camera, especially at night, the 2 is good enough to make decent UA-cam walking tour videos at 4k, imo. If I really need a night camera or if I am somewhere where being discreet is not required, such as in Japan, South Korea or Singapore where there is no street crime, I will use an iPhone 15 (which has a one-inch sensor like the Pocket3) on a gimbal, but in developing countries and even in less safe areas of western countries, I like the discretion of the Pocket 2. Hi - that's great, I'm glad they were useful. I think this is a very wise decision as the Pocket 2 is still a very good camera for making walking videos and it's definitely much more discreet than Pocket 3. The difference in quality isn't huge so being safe and not sticking out in third world countries is more important. Vlog is a very small market. OP3 is the best family camera. It is very easy to take smooth 4K video with great video quality for every family. The users can record their life journey to review 5, 10 or 20 years later. OP3 makes the current camera into industry junks.
One accessory I miss with the Pocket 3 is the extension handle available for the Pocket 2. The joystick and buttons on the extension handle make it easy to control shots where the Pocket2 is held high (e.g., for group or crowd shots). I hope some sort of remote accessory is developed for the Pocket 3 that has a physical joystick and buttons.
Yes that is true - I have the extension handle but actually it never got much use though. For the Pocket 3 I sort of fudged one by putting it on a selfie stick with a mobile phone clamp at the bottom to control the Pocket . It's pretty much does the same thing as the extension rod did, but less glamorous!
Cheers thanks for your videos - Do you have a video showing best night settings for using the Pocket 2 as a night time walking video. I currently use the Pocket 2 at 4k 60fps at full auto but looking at getting some sharper night footage..thx
Hi - thanks for the question and comment. No not yet - though I will add it to my list of videos to do for you as that is a good suggestion. I think at night 60fps might be a bit fast which will mean needing to do a shutter speed of at least 1/120 to keep up with the frame rate. Try reducing to 30 fps and that should mean the shutter speed won't need to be so fast and that might sharpen up the footage a bit. You may also find that reducing the resolution down from 4K to 1080p for example could result in better looking footage as 4K needs a lot more light and processing power.
For me personally the pocket 3 is an awrsome camera and paid for itself after just 3 weeks of use on my channel😁. Keep up the great work more low light walking videos on the street with every setting for best results. I use my iphone pro max for photos. I agree with the charging the screen in the case and not being able to see the charging. Do you have nd & black mist filters that you could show what conditions to use for best results?
I think the service center for Europe at least is the Netherlands - or was where I had to send my DJI for service, so it's normal not to have one in each country

There is no dji service center in my country and I am worried about screen flip issue?
