I found that the sludge left behind makes a great repair slip.

If you make you terra sig in a plastic jug, peirce it at the divide between the good and bad so that only the good part pours into a bowl, and the sludge stays behind. No siphoning required.

This presentation appears to have borrowed quite a bit from this presentation at NCECA by Pete Pinnell: ua-cam.com/video/hstcxaySyhY/v-deo.html

Sigillata literally means sealed, in fact the terra sigillata pottery is actually sealed compared to terracotta, being less porous and much more apt at containing liquids.
I have not gotten where sigillata = with seal comes from, but maybe I'm wrong.
    Anyhow, nice video, thanks.

The ancient Greek potters from Magna Grecia italy made a metalic green patina, from terrasig. The British Museum has many examples, some scholars call this green a fiance , it's not,

The presenter states that Terra Sig is food safe. That may be true of the base mix (assuming your clay doesn't not contain anything that is not food safe. However, if you add any color (tin or mason stains), then you need to check the associated safety data sheet - the added materials may not be food safe. This clarification is not made in the presentation.
