    As an avid lifetime fisherman, mainly boating, it is my goal to fish that wall one day

    Do you/ can you use the same rod/reel and test for both halibut and striper? I live a few minutes from the rock wall and want something to keep me busy while I have a line with cut bait waiting for some bigguns to bite. Awesome videos!

      Thank you! I do use the same set up for both species. At the ARW, due to strong wind, current and deep dept, I use a swimbait rod rated for 3 oz, and usually throw 1-2 oz swimbaits.

    nice catch man!!! Only thing this video is missing is the funky music! But in all seriousness, don't pack up your stuff! It's crab season now!

      I actually tried to get into winter crabbing a few years ago. Except I found out its illegal to crab in SF bay. I think it's legal after you pass the golden gate bridge, correct me if I'm wrong.

      @@wellthoughtoutfishing1534 Its illegal to keep dungenous crab in the bay but outside the bay they can be kept. For rock crab they can be kept from inside or outside the bay

    Congrats o PB
    I have been there twice; caught skunks twice. I used to live in Oakland.
    What is the season for striped bass there?

      Thanks! I've got skunked here lots of time.
      Some will say you can catch stripers here all year. But really, fall is when big numbers will swim through heading back up into the delta.

      @@wellthoughtoutfishing1534 How much longer do you think they will be in the Bay near ARW? Through December?

    • @wellthoughtoutfishing1534
      @wellthoughtoutfishing1534  Рік тому

      From previous years, I stop consistently catching them after mid November. Usually the drop in temp, the beginning of rain storms, and the disappearing of smelt from the bay will signal the end of the striper season for me. I did still see some schools of smelt on the inside of the wall, but nothing like a month ago.

      @@wellthoughtoutfishing1534 Is that timing for Stripers or Halibut. I heard stripers are around Alameda year long. Halibut best April-May. I have no experience of my own to add on either. AND, by the way super nice catch and a tough landing from the rocks!

    Do u let the swim bait hit the bottom then do a slow retrieve bouncing off the bottom
