Just get decants and samples enjoy the journey and discovery then if you want the full bottle purchase it or not.

Not enough 'frag comm' UA-camrs recommend this, I'm totally with you. Just find an aesthetically appealing box and store samples in there. A sample library also doubles up as a fantastic self-education tool, which for all fragrance lovers is extremely valuable. I love testing things out and then heading over to Fragrantica to see if my guesses at notes was right and how other people interpreted the composition and so forth. A couple of big bottles just doesn't offer the same opportunity for education and understanding to someone who really wants to explore and learn more about fragrances and indeed, themselves. However, not everybody is as enthusiastically invested in the 'world of fragrance' and is happy to just spray and enjoy an olfactory accessory for what it is and desire absolutely nothing more from their purchase, I get that too. People who appear often in frag comm comment sections are not those people; we're cut from a different cloth and the sense of smell, neurologically, aesthetically, intellectually and psychologically means something more to us. ☺🤓

1:15 i hope people listen to these words of wisdom! Peter, im glad you said it. How it is because most fragrance reviewers won't say it.

Just spend 2 hours in a local perfume store and true budget fragrances. While most aren’t mind blowing, there are real gems in between!

Really good advice and also unusual from a fragrance content maker. Appreciate it!

Just being honest. Better to buy some Decants first and then check if you really like that perfume.

Just saw young people in my surroundings spending far too much money, while still being broke. Let’s fix that!

What you failed to mentioned is that you pay more for the brand AND quality. And yes Niche perfumes are better, tried a lot of dupes which never worked. Of course you can only buy them if you have the money, but that's the case with all things

    • @olfactoryambition

Yeah, the very very best perfumes are usually also the most expensive ones. However, I argue that there are a lot of great options that are very affordable

No way. There are plenty of dupes which smell more luxury and last longer.

Designers has the worst value for money
You can buy niche for 150-170 USD for 100 mln and you are getting amazing quality and performance and you can buy a clone for 20 USD and you also get more that you paid but collection of reformulated designers scents for 90-130 USD each that lasts 4-5 h with 7 sprays is 🤯

    • @olfactoryambition
      @olfactoryambition  7 місяців тому

Sounds a bit like generalization. I honestly believe it always depends on the individual perfume. My Pradas for example are great.

      @@olfactoryambition agree
For example Prada or Swy intensly/absolutly or Guarlain homme ideal are great

You are so right . My son 25 , working in a hotel wear avon and joop . It more than enough. I will never buy perfume more than 100 Euro

In my opinion some of the very best perfumes are only available with the more expensive brands.
However, there are enough affordable and excellent options to choose from.

Sometimes it's worth every penny though. My husband wore Heritage by Fragrance du Bois on a holiday during an extremely hot and humid summer. On me this fragrance is the most hideously overpriced bar of Cussons soap and nothing more. On him it was glorious. I could not stop smelling his neck as he leaned in to quietly talk to me on a train ride. I don't know anything else like this one and I highly recommend guys give Heritage a try during the upcoming summer of 2024. Another expensive alternative to a cheaper designer fragrance is London by Widian. I prefer it to TF's Ombre Leather and again, hope you'll test it out too if you like slightly sweet ambery leather fragrances.

London is a great alternative to LV - Ombré Nomade.
Personally, I’m with you and in love with my expensive perfumes. But I also know too many young people who just overspend on a consumable

@@olfactoryambition And I'M with YOU on that last point totally. I am aware that our conversation would head into another philosophical and economical exploration altogether so we'd no longer be talking about a contained and focused issue like fragrance construction and marketing anymore but a far more deep rooted cultural and psychological problem. I loved your point about the LV bag and the cringe offered by conspicuous consumption. I wince to behold all the insecurity in society, all compelling young people to waste money on logos and trendy products. Just this tacky, sad fixation on logos and a weird social media hypnosis compelling them to follow trends, ergh, I don't get it. When people understand quality (which most often comes with age unfortunately) they usually choose 'stealth wealth' in every capacity. I buy quality construction and beautiful execution of timeless design. No visible logos at all, anywhere, on anything. That being said, I draw the line at certain price points. I wonder how you (and your viewers) feel about many niche fragrances being priced the way they are mostly due to ridiculous packaging and presentation? Now THAT'S a waste of money and I REALLY don't get the people who see value there. But each to their own.

i think "Lost Cherry" by Tom Ford is an exception, you will not find many other cherry dominant fragrances. So i feel that its justified. Also cherry is my favourite scentnote.

If you want more cherry in your life, I highly recommend Late Harvest by Fort & Manle. If you like TF's Tobacco Vanille, that sweet 'grandpa's vintage pipe tobacco vibe', then you'll LOVE this one too. Memories by The Gate is another 'cherry cola tobacco' one which is a little bit less expensive.
