It's all a nice looking facade. Once you step behind it you will realize that it's a cold empty shell surrounded by judgmental fake puppets. No one dear to think for themselves, everyone dresses the exact same and follow a strict boot camp-like social code and whatever you do, never ever criticize anyone or anything they say or stand for straight to their face.

"Sergels Torg" is "Sergel's Square" in english. Sergel's square is a central public square in Stockholm, sometimes referred to as "The Slab", hence the opening lyrics in this song; "Over the slabs of Sergel's Square". It is widely associated with drug dealers and homeless people, hence the expression "end up at the slab", meaning that you're addicted to drugs. This song seems to be about lost love and separation, and maybe Sergel's Square is meant to be some kind of metaphor for failure.

i disagree. i think there is an aesthetic quality of the Swedish language that gets lost in translation to English, and the song is absolutly not the same anymore. Kent famously did two English translated albums and i found them a bit flat compared the Swedish verision.
I was in the audience of this one Finnish show called Bettina today and Veronica played this song there. She played it even three times(to make a flawless performance). I think i will never forget that moment! :333

Doesn't matter where she's from, but I gotta say that the Swedish language has a certain charm to it. And Veronica made this song sound like magic. I'll be stuck on this for some time now.

Still obsessed with this song
Her lyrics are actually often quite simple. The genius (at least if you ask me) of it all lies in the various idiomatic expressions, word-play and old - as well as more recent - cultural references that may be hard to both translate and understand if you weren't brougplay and old, as well as new cultural references that may be hard to undht up in Sweden. But if you still would like a translation, I would glady provide it for you.

This was my best attempt to make a translation that also matches the syllibles and length, so English speakers can sing along. The literal translations end up being too long or short for most lines to match.
