Hi @theMurderUnicorn This is a really great tutorial, containing sooo much information and help! Thanks a lot for this detailed tutorial-series in CDDA ! Although I´m not native English speaker it´s very good to understand and follow. Helped to understand key-binding, playing and handling issues that might occur. I play it only for a few days and always have a quick look into these videos to get better prepared. Just thank you a lot for your efforts. Good work!! Melanie
Oh, I had to watch this video 3x to squeeze all the good game info out of it. You're saving a lot of profanity & throwing-things, thks. But I think I'll do a little profanity & throwing a fews things anyways (it's kinda fun sometimes, you might give it a try).
Pretty useless info but good to know: Cooked meat has more "available" calories than raw meat not as a measure of combustible or energy (Joules), but because cooked meat being more easily digestible, generates more calories.
I wish the Forest Generation was better than this just... Shotgun of random plants, trees, and everything every which way. In reality, a lot of forests usually contain only a couple types of Trees that will dominate the landscape, until the terrain either changes elevation, or the soil changes composition. The Underbrush of a forests varies *wildly* depending on where it is, how humid the environment is, and what lifeforms call it home. I would love to see specific kinds of Forests in CDDA, I think. Large Pine forests with little underbrush, but plenty of mushrooms. Or Oak Forests thick with foliage, berry bushes, and wild critters. I guess that would be a pipe dream without reworking the entire world generation system to be less grid-locked, huh.
roasted walnuts lasts 180 days roasted hazelnuts lasts 150 days roasted hickory nuts lasts 180 days Shelf-life seems about right to me I'm a nice guy & vegetarian in real-life. Although I'll probably be a psychopath in the Cataclysm DDA game, I still will stay a vegetarian (nut-etarian), thks. Just because it's all just a computer game, I not going to throw all my moral standards ty to-the-wind.
I was actually thinking about acorns, specifically, as they last forever (though I haven't checked in a while) and can be cooked into acorn meal which has a lot of calories. So, once you get to the point that you can accrue a lot of acorns (autumn) you pretty much are set for life with food. There's other stuff like that, which last forever and have good calories, but acorns are everywhere.

Dandelion greens didn’t show up because your survival skills was to low for the recipe.
I love that this game doesn't force you into a certain way
Survival is the darkside of life itself, its the natural law of trying to survive, 🤣
